        In this paper, we consider the implementation of connected digit recognition system using tree structured lexicon model. To implement efficiently the fixed or variable length digit recognition system, finite state network (FSN) is required. We merge the word network algorithm that implements the FSN with lexical tree search algorithm that is used for general speech recognition system for fast search and large vocabulary systems. To find the efficient modeling of digit recognition system, we investigate some performance changes when the lexical tree search is applied.

        Removal of Heterogeneous Candidates Using Positional Accuracy Based on Levenshtein Distance on Isolated n-best Recognition

        Many isolated word recognition systems may generate irrelevant words for recognition results because they use only acoustic information or small amount of language information. In this paper, I propose word similarity that is used for selecting (or removing) less common words from candidates by applying Levenshtein distance. Word similarity is obtained by using positional accuracy that reflects the frequency information along to character's alignment information. This paper also discusses various improving techniques of selection of disparate words. The methods include different loss values, phone accuracy based on confusion information, weights of candidates by ranking order and partial comparisons. Through experiments, I found that the proposed methods are effective for removing heterogeneous words without loss of performance.

        분절 특징 HMM의 매개 변수 수의 감소에 관한 연구

        음성 인식에 많이 사용되는 HMM (hidden Markov model)을 개선하기 위하여 분절 특징을 사용한 분절 특징 HMM은 성능이 우수하다고 발표되었다. 그러나, 분절 길이가 증가하고 회귀 차수가 놓아질수록 분절 특징 HMM을 표현하는 매개 변수의 수도 같이 증가된다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 상태에서 관측 가능한 분절의 분산을 분절 내의 모든 프레임에 대하여 공통적으로 표현하는 고정 분산 방법을 통하여 성능의 저하 없이 매개 변수의 수를 줄이도록 시도하였다. 실험 결과, 두 혼합 밀도인 경우 고정 분산을 이용한 분절 특징 HMM의 성능과 시변 분산을 이용한 성능의 차이가 거의 없어, 제안된 방법의 유효성을 입증하였다.

        A Study on the Inter-Korean Cooperation for Establishing the Oriental Stork Ecology Network

        The purpose of this study is to explore avenues for inter-Korean cooperation to establish an ecological network for Oriental Storks on the Korean Peninsula. There were no more Oriental Storks in ROK in about 25 years ago. However the reintroduction of Oriental Storks has been successful. Their release back into the wild is now at the experimental stage. In the DPRK, Oriental Storks are a rare bird. Subsequentely, the DPRK has also recognized the need for their protection and is focusing upon the protection of the wetlands along its western coast. Taking these individual efforts by the ROK and the DPRK as a common task to establish an ecological network for Oriental Storks on the Korean Peninsula, this study proposes a plan for cooperation in three stages such as EXPERT EXCHANGE AND BASIC RESEARCH, HABITAT RESTORATION AND DATA SHARING, and THE REINTRODUCTION OF THE SPECIES ON THE KOREAN PENINSULA. To achieve this, the Korean government, local governments and private organizations will need to provide legal, political, and economic support to promote exchange, cooperation and active human interactions with experts.

        분절 특징 은닉 마코프 모델에서의 경향 공유에 관한 연구

        본 논문에서는 경향 양자화 기법을 적용하여 분절 특징 은닉 마코프 모델 (HMM: hidden Markov model)의 매개 변수 수를 줄이는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 분절 특징 HMM에서 사용하는 분절 특징, 즉 모수적 궤적을 위치 정보와 경향 정보로 분리한 후, 분리된 경향 정보를 경향 코드북을 이용하여 공유한다. 분절 특징에서 위치 정보는 특징의 기준 점을 나타내고, 경향 정보는 분절 특징의 변이를 의미하며 특징의 많은 부분을 차지하고 있다. 따라서 경향 정보가 공유될 수 있다면 분절 특징 HMM의 매개 변수 수를 줄일 수 있을 것이다. 실험 결과 제안된 방식이 기존의 시스템과 비슷한 성능을 보였으며 매개 변수 수를 줄이는 방안으로 고려될 수 있음을 보였다. In this paper, we propose the reduction method of the number of parameters in the segmental-feature HMM using trend quantization method. The proposed method shares the trend information of the polynomial trajectories by quantization. The trajectory is obtained by the sequence of feature vectors of speech signals and can be divided by trend and location information. The trend indicates the variation of consequent frame features, while the location points to the positional difference of the trajectories. Since the trend occupies the large portion of SFHMM, if the trend is shared, the number of parameters maybe decreases. To exploit the proposed system the experiments are performed on TIMIT corpus. The experimental results show that the performance of the proposed system is roughly similar to that of previous system. Therefore, the proposed system can be considered one of parameter reduction method.

        KASS Message Scheduler Design

        The Korea Augmentation Satellite System (KASS), which is under development in Korea as a Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) is expected to broadcast SBAS messages to air space in Korea according to the international standards defined by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA). Around 13 SBAS messages are broadcast in every second to transmit augmentation information which can be applicable to a wide area in common. Each of the messages requires a different update interval and time-out according to the characteristics, purpose, and importance of transmitted information, and users should receive and combine multiple SBAS messages to calculate SBAS augmented information. Thus, a time to take acquiring first SBAS position by users differs depending on broadcasting various SBAS messages with which order and intervals. The present paper analyzes the considerations on message scheduling for broadcasting of KASS augmentation information and proposes a design of KASS message scheduler using the considerations. Compared to existing SBAS systems, which have a wide range of service area, a service area of the KASS is limited to Korea only. Thus, the numbers of ionosphere grid points and satellites to be augmented are expected to be smaller than those of existing SBAS. By reflecting this characteristic to the proposed design, shortening of broadcast interval of KASS message is verified compared to existing SBAS and a measure to increase a speed of acquisition of user navigation solution is proposed utilizing remaining message slots. The simulation result according to the proposed measure showed that the maximum broadcast interval can be reduced by up to 20% compared to that of existing SBAS, and users can acquire KASS position solution faster than existing SBAS.

        성대위축증 및 경미한 성대구증에서 $Artecoll^{(R)}$을 이용한 후두주입성형술의 효과

        Background and Objectives : This study aimed to determine the clinical effect of $Artecoll^{(R)}$ injection laryngoplasty for patients with vocal atrophy and mild sulcus vocalis. Materials and Method : Forty-one patients with vocal atrophy and/or mild sulcus vocalis received transcutaneous $Artecoll^{(R)}$ injection into the vocal folds under local anesthesia. Subjective evaluations including voice handicap index (VHI) and perceptual grading with Grade, Roughness, Breathiness, Asthenia, Strain (GRBAS) scales and objective evaluations including jitter, shimmer, noise-to-harmonic ratio (NHR), speaking fundamental frequency (SFF) and maximum phonation time (MPT) were evaluated before and 3 months after the injection. Results : VHI and Grade, Breathiness and Strain scales in GRBAS showed significant improvement 3 months after injection. SFF and MPT also significantly improved after the injection ; MPT increased and SFF in male patients decreased. Conclusion : Injection laryngoplasty with $Artecoll^{(R)}$ is an effective method for correcting the glottal insufficiency and improving voice quality in patients with vocal atrophy and/or mild sulcus.
