This review paper presents an introduction of contact mechanics and rubber friction theory for sliding friction of elastomer composites in contact with rough surfaces. Particularly, Klüppel & Heinrich theory considers the self-affine (or fractal) characteristic for rough surfaces to predict adhesion and hysteresis frictions of elastomers based on the contact mechanics of Greenwood & Williamson. Due to dynamic excitation process of elastomer composites while sliding in contact with multiscale surface roughness (or asperity), viscoelastic properties in a wide frequency range becomes major contributor to friction behaviors. A brief description and examples are provided to construct a viscoelastic master curve considering nonlinear viscoelasticity of elastomer composites. Finally, application of rubber friction theory to tire tread compounds in traction with road surfaces is discussed with several experimental and theoretical results.
다발성 폐전이를 동반한 재발성 간세포암종의 자발퇴행 1예

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common form of liver malignancy. Spontaneous regression of HCC is extremely rare phenomenon and mechanism of regression remains obscure. 75-year-old woman previously diagnosed with hepatitis C virus-related liver cirrhosis was found to have single mass in liver with elevation of α-fetoprotein level to 10,320 ng/mL. Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) was performed. 27 months after TACE recurred HCC with multiple lung nodules were confirmed. The patient refused any therapeutic modality. The patient underwent follow-up without any anti-cancer treatment. 8 months after recurrence follow up computed tomography scan revealed spontaneous regression of HCC and completely disappeared lung nodules. The patient is currently doing well and without any evidence of recurrence. The causes of spontaneous regression of HCC are not well understood. Proposed mechanisms are ischemic injury, biological factors, herbal medicine, immunological variations. Further studies are necessary to improve our understanding of this rare phenomenon. 고인성복합체의 보강구성 요소에 따른 조적부재의 휨 시험

본 연구는 횡하중에 취약한 조적조 건축물의 내진보강을 위한 시스템 개발을 하고자 조적부재의 휨 시험을 수행하였다. 조적부재 시험체는 보강구성 요소를 다르게 하여 제작한 것으로, 비보강 시험체와 비교하여 고인성복합체와 보강구성 요소인 메쉬, 유리섬유, 용접철망 등을 이용한 시험체가 휨 강도가 증가하여, 조적조 건축물의 내진보강 성능향상에 유효한 공법 개발에 도움이 될 것으로 판단된다.
