This study investigated the history of organized camping which was originated to address the social problems caused by industrialization and urbanization under the Progressive Movement of America in the 19th century. First, recognizing the value of camping as a venue for spiritual influence, the American YMCA and its leaders initiated organized camping in the late 19th century with a variety of activities, and local YMCA organizations played a key roles in implementing them(led by local YMCA organizations). Second, the YMCA succeeded in organizing camping based on young men’s voluntary participation in camping related to physical work with basketball, volleyball and swimming as such and tried to help them form Christian manliness American society demanded through this process. Thirdly, one reason for organized camping to spread across the globe was the fact that its utility as a critical tool for evangelical movement was reflected. The birth of organized camping in Korea resulted from this evangelical movement of the YMCA as well. 본 논문은 19세기 미국의 혁신주의 운동의 영향 아래 산업화와 도시화가 내포한 사회 문제를 해결하기 위해 촉발되어 조직화된 캠핑의 역사를 고찰했다. 우선 19세기 후반 조직화된 캠핑을 주도한 핵심적인 단체는 미국 YMCA와 그 지도자들이었으며, YMCA는 영적 감화의 장으로서 캠핑의 가치를 인식하고 지역 YMCA를 중심으로 다양한 캠핑활동을 통해서 캠핑의조직화를 추진했다. 둘째 YMCA는 농구, 배구, 수영 등을 중심으로 한 체육 사업과 연계된 캠핑을 통해 청소년들의 자발적참여를 기반으로 캠핑의 조직화를 이룩했으며, 이러한 과정에서 미국 사회가 요구했던 기독교적 남성성을 형성하고자 했다. 셋째, 조직화된 캠핑이 세계적 확산을 경험할 수 있었던 것은 YMCA 해외 선교 확장의 결과이자 복음주의 운동의중요한 수단으로서 캠핑의 효용성이 반영된 결과이다. 한국의 조직화된 캠핑의 태동도 이러한 YMCA의 복음주의 운동의확산 결과였다는 것을 알 수 있다.

Cloning of phosphoglucomutase gene (pgm) in Streptococcus parauberis

Here, we have cloned and sequenced Streptococcus parauberis pgm gene, encoding the enzyme phosphoglucomutase (PGM), which is known to be in association with virulence in other streptococcal species. The PGM of S. parauberis is the most closely related to that of S. iniae based on their amino acid sequences.

M&A(기업 인수.합병)가 활발하다. M&A에 대한부정적 인식이 사라진 듯 하다. 그러나 현실 속에 한 발을 내디디면 커다란 벽에부닥친다. 최근 필자가 만난 한 벤처 기업 CEO는 "M&A에 대한 필요성은 느낀다. 하지만 방법을 잘 모르겠다. 잘 할자신도 없다. 팔때는 헐값에 넘기는 것 같고,살 때는 속아서 비싸게 사는 것 같다"고 솔직한 심정을 털어놓았다. 개인과 마찬가지로 기업도 성장하는 과정에서 만나는 고비와 장애물을 뛰어 넘어 한 단계 업그레이드 되는 계기가 있게 마련이다. M&A는 앞에 놓여있는 장애물을 뛰어넘기 위한 지렛대일 수도 있고,도움닫기에 필요한 뜀틀이 될 수도 있고, 화학적 반응을 촉진시키는 촉매제로도 활용가능하다. 그렇다면 벤처기업이 M&A를 잘할 수 있는기술과 방법은 어떤 것일까. M&A의 기술과 방법은 다양한 전략과 전술을섞어 수십 가지 경우의 수도 만들 수 있다. 그러나 지난 10년 동안기업 M&A를 옆에서 지켜봐온 필자의 입장에서 모든 전략과 전술에 앞선 핵심요소는 최대주주의 '욕심 버리기'와 솔직함 이다. 최대주주가 회사에 대한 솔직한 평가를 내리고,본인의 욕심을 조금만 양보하면 가장 적절한 가격과 조건에 회사를 키울수 있는 M&A가 가능하다.

우리나라 학생선수 육성환경의 변천과정 및 발전방안 탐색

This research was designed to explore a desirable student athletic training plan via arrangement and analysis of materials in the point of historical view how the student athletic system has been changed in variety school physical education policies since the liberation of Korea. At the results, in the legal and institutional aspects, it was continued to make steady efforts to participate and promote student athletes, however, the problem of the disorganized and unified physical education administration organization, the pros and cons in the ‘student athletic system’ itself, cause that the student athlete has to give up their right as a student. Plus, this system has transformed student athletes who are aiming to only victory in the unbalanced development of the school athletic department as a machine to train only. For the better life for student athletes, it was suggested as below: academic support for student athlete; ‘long-term, little, systemic’ improvement efforts of student athlete system; establish cooperative governance of administrative organization, and so on. 본 연구는 우리나라 광복 이후 실시되어 온 다양한 학교체육정책 중 학생선수 육성제도가 어떻게 변화되어 현재에 이르렀는지 역사적 관점에서 자료를 정리, 분석함으로써 향후 바람직한 학생선수 육성방안을 탐색하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 그 결과 법⋅제도적 측면에서는 문서상으로는 학생선수의 학업 참여와 증진을 위해 꾸준한 노력을 지속하였지만, 체계적이고 일원화 되지 못한 체육 행정 조직의 문제, ‘체육특기자 제도’자체가 가지고 있는 명(明)과 암(暗)은 학생 선수가 ‘학생’으로서의 권리를 포기해야 하는 문제를 낳으며 문서상의 노력을 무색하게 하였다. 또한 이 제도는 학교운동부의 비균형적 발전과 각종 대회에서 승리와 우승만을 목적으로 하는 학생 선수들을 운동만하는 기계로 변질시켰다. 향후 학생선수의 더 나은 삶을 위해 역량 강화의 관점에서 학생 선수를 위한 학업 지원, 체육특기자 제도의 ‘장기간, 조금씩, 체계적인’ 개선 노력, 행정 조직의 협력적 가버넌스 구축, 학생 선수를 학생으로 바라보기 위해 관련 주체의 인식 변화를 제안하였다.

어류 병원성 세균 공격 후 마늘, Allium sativum 착즙액의 침지가 넙치, Paralichthys olivaceus의 면역반응에 미치는 영향

This study was aimed to investigate the effects in different immersion doses of garlic, Allium sativum, juice to modulate on the nonspecific immune responses of the olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, artificially prechallenged with Streptococcus iniae BS10 and Edwardsiella tarda KE-1, respectively. The nonspecific immune responses of the tested fish were assessed in term of skin mucus lysozyme activity, the change of bacterial cell counts in organs, the number of lymphocytes and neutrophils in blood, and SOD activity. Almost groups of the prechallenged with either S. iniae BS10 or E. tarda KE-1 fish which had been immersed in garlic juice showed the enhanced skin mucus lysozyme activity, the number of lymphocytes and neutrophils in blood, and SOD activity in the kidney but the decreased the number of bacterial cell in surveyed organs. RPS in the group immersed in 0.25 g/L of garlic juice was much higher than in other immersed test groups. These results suggested that the garlic juice immersion can be effective on enhancement of the nonspecific immune responses and the protective ability of olive flounder to the artificial challenge with S. iniae BS10 and E. tarda KE-1.
