DME is known as an excellent alternative fuel that provides low particulate matter(PM) than diesel fuel under same engine operating conditions. Spray characteristics of Diesel and DME fuel in common rail injection system were investigated within the high pressure chamber by using the particle motion analysis system. The injector used in this study have single hole with the different orifice diameter of 0.2, 0.3 and O.4mm. The injection pressure was<br/> fixed at 35MPa and the ambient pressure were varied from 0.6 to 1.5MPa Macroscopic spray characteristics such as spray angle and spray penetration were measured.<br/> Same trends is obtained both Diesel and DME fuel for spray angle and spray penetration at all used orifice diameter. As ambient pressure is increased, spray angle is increase but spray penetration is decreased. Spray angle was measured at 30d_0 downstream of the nozzle tip for DME ,and 60d_0 downstream of the nozzle tip for Diesel fuel.

N/A It is important to improve the efficiency of the existing small scale burner which used in agricultural product dry system and gardening dry system. In order to economize fuel Consumption and decrease the exhaust emission especially CO₂, the better design for the small scale burner is needed. Spray characteristics are the essential element for the design. Macroscopic spray characteristics such as spray angle and breakup length were measured. SMD which is contained the Microscopic spray characteristics was measured too. SMD was measured at 8㎜, 12㎜, 16㎜ downstream of the nozzle tip for both Hago and Danfoss nozzles by the Malvern Particle Sizer.
