        Intranasal Administration of Melanin-Concentrating Hormone Reduces Stress-Induced Anxiety- and Depressive-Like Behaviors in Rodents

        Major depressive disorder is a complex neuropsychiatric disorder with few treatment options. Non-targeted antidepressants have low efficacy and can induce series of side effects. While a neuropeptide, melanin-concentrating hormone (MCH), is known to exhibit regulator of affective state, no study to date has assessed the anti-depressive effects of MCH in a stress-induced depression model. This study aimed to evaluate the pharmacological effects of intranasal administration of MCH on depression-related behavior in stressed rats and mice. Using a number of behavioral tests, we found that MCH treatment significantly decreased anxiety- and depressive-like behaviors induced by stress. Notably, the effects of MCH were equivalent to those of fluoxetine. MCH treatment also restored the activity of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway and normalized the levels of synaptic proteins, including postsynaptic density 95, glutamate receptor 1, and synapsin 1, which were all downregulated by stress. Interestingly, the protective effects of MCH were blocked by the mTOR inhibitor, rapamycin. These results suggest that MCH exhibits antidepressant properties by modulating the mTOR pathway. Altogether, this study provides an insight into the molecular mechanisms involved in the antidepressant-like effects of MCH, thereby paving the way for the future clinical application of MCH.

        쉴드TBM터널에서 뒤채움 주입이 지반의 단기·장기 침하에 미치는 영향에 대한 수치해석적 연구

        얕은 터널의 시공에 있어 지표 침하는 주요 관리 사항으로 쉴드 TBM 기술을 적용함으로써 굴착 중 지반 변형의 제어를 통하여 침하를 경감시키는 것이 가능하며, 특히 뒤채움 주입은 침하 경감의 목적으로 쉴드 공법에서는 일반적으로 적용되는 기술이다. 투수성이 낮은 지반에서의 TBM 시공에 의한 지표 침하는 터널 시공 중에 발생할 뿐만 아니라, 터널 관통 후에도 장기간에 걸쳐 발생한다. 장기 침하는 주로 터널 주변의 압밀에 의해 발생되고, 이 압밀 과정은 터널 주변에 과잉간극수압을 유발하는 뒤채움 주입에 의해 영향을 받게 되며 결과적으로 쉴드 TBM 터널에서는 뒤채움 주입이 장기 침하에 큰 영향을 주게 된다. 본 연구에서는 쉴드 TBM 공법 중 뒤채움 주입이 지표 침하에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위해 3차원 응력-간극수압 연계해석을 수행하였다. 해석 결과 뒤채움 주입압의 증가는 단기 침하를 경감시키지만, 다수의 경우에서 장기 침하의 감소에 기여를 하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 장기 침하를 최소한으로 제한할 수 있는 한계 주입압의 존재를 확인하였다. For shallow tunnel constructions, settlement of the ground surface is a main issue. Recent technical developments in shield TBM tunneling technique have enabled a decrease in such settlements based on tunneling with ground deformation controls. For this objective, the tail void grouting is a common practice. Generally surface settlements in a soil of low permeability occur during a tunnel construction but also during a long period after completion of the tunnel. The long-term settlements occur mainly due to consolidation around the tunnel. The consolidation process is caused and determined by the tail void grouting which leads to an excess pore water pressure in the vicinity of the tunnel. Because of this, the grouting pressure has a strong effect on the long-term settlements in the shield tunneling. In order to investigate this effect, a series of coupled hydro-mechanical 3D finite element simulations have been performed. The results show that an increase in grouting pressure reduces the short-term settlements, but in many cases, it doesn't lead to a reduction of the final settlements after the completion of consolidation. Thereby, the existence of a critical grouting pressure is identified, at which the minimal settlements are expected.

        Dome structures show the different performance according to shapes and load conditions. So, the stiffness performance evaluation of dome structures considering various conditions is required. Therefore, this study adopts the rib and schwedler domes as example model and analyzes the stiffness performance according to the variations of height, rings and load conditions.

        수분노화된 금속/KClO4 산화제 기반 고에너지 물질의 화학반응역학 변화를 유발하는 주요인자 확인

        To minimize such loss due to aging, research on energetic materials is being actively conducted though, there are difficulties in identifying the comprehensive aging mechanisms as they focused on the respective materials. In this study, thermal and surface analysis were performed on energetic materials composed of metals(W, Ti, and Zr) and KClO4 oxidizer to solve the blind spots of this aging study. It was newly found that the metals in the hygrothermally aged compounds can cause significant changes in performance. For example, the growth in the thickness of the oxide film on the metals led to an increase in the average value of activation energy(Eα). In addition, the standard deviation of Eα tends to dependent on the type of metal, which is due to the difference in electronegativity. 고에너지 물질의 노화로 인하여 성능 감소를 최소화하기 위해 현재 노화 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있지만, 개별 재료에 집중한 연구가 대부분이며 일반적인 노화 메커니즘 파악에는 미흡한 상태이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 맹점을 해결하기 위해서 금속(W, Ti, Zr)과 KClO4 산화제를 기반으로 하는 고에너지 물질에 대하여 열/표면 분석을 수행하였으며, 이를 통해 고습도-고온 조건하에 노화된 해당 물질에서 보인 열역학적 특성 및 화학반응인자의 변화를 확인하였다. 그 결과, 금속 원소의 상태가 화학반응인자의 상당한 변화를 결정하였다. 즉, 금속의 산화 및 산화막 두께의 증가는 활성화에너지 평균값의 상승을 초래하였으며, 금속 원자의 전기음성도는 활성화에너지 값의 표준편차의 변화를 이끌어냈다.

        Investigation on Influence of Tail Void Grouting on the Surface Settlements during Shield Tunneling Using a Stress-Pore Pressure Coupled Analysis

        For shallow tunnel constructions, settlement of the ground surface is a main issue. Recent technical developments in shieldtunneling technique have enabled a decrease in such settlements due to tunneling under ground deformation controls. However,surface settlements are still considerable. The objective of this paper is to investigate ground behavior due to grouting of the tail voidin shield tunneling. Tail void grouting is a common practice in shield tunneling that reduces ground movements and changes in thestress state of the ground due to tunnel excavation. In order to investigate the influence of tail void grouting, three dimensional FEsimulationswere performed for the simple case of a tunnel heading in homogeneous sandy soil below the ground water table. In asensitivity analysis, the initial relative density of the ground, which determines the stress-strain relationship, was changed. Focusingon the stress and volume change of the tail void grout with time, the simulation results were evaluated with respect to the deformationand stress state of the ground. Surface settlement depends both on the volume loss due to tunnel construction and on the volumechange of the ground around the tunnel. Additionally, such volume change is influenced by pore water pressure.

        하드웨어/소프트웨어 통합설계를 위한 FDS 분할 알고리즘의 성능개선

        하드웨어/소프트웨어 통합설계를 위한 대부분의 분할 알고리즘들은 스케줄링을 고려하지 않기 때문에 분할결과를 스케줄 하였을 때에 시간제약을 만족하지 못한다면 재분할 해야하는 오버헤드가 있다. 분할 단계에서 스케줄링을 함께 고려하는 FDS를 응용하는 기존의 방법들은 분할 될 노드를 선택하면서 그 노드가 스케줄 되어야 하는 제어구간을 결정한다. 분할될 노드의 선택은 한 노드를 분할함으로써 상승하는 비용 또는 시간과 그 노드의 스케줄로 인해 다른 노드들의 스케줄을 방해하는 정도를 함께 고려한다. 이때, 다른 노드들의 스케줄을 방해하는 정도를 의미하는 유도 힘은 자신과 종속성을 갖는 노드들의 모든 제어구간에서 계산된다. 본 논문은 FDS를 응용하는 분할 방법으로서 노드의 스케줄 긴박도와 상대적 스케줄 긴박도를 정의하여 분할하는데, 노드들의 모빌리티 중에서 처음 제어단계와 마지막 제어단계에서의 상대적 스케줄 긴박도 계산만으로 분할을 결정하기 때문에 기존의 FDS 응용 방법에서의 유도힘 계산에 소요되는 시간복잡도를 개선한다. 벤치마크들에 대한 실험 결과는 기존의 FDS 응용 방법과 비교해서 개선된 알고리즘 실행시간을 보인다. Most partitioning algorithms for hardware- software codesign do not consider scheduling. Therefore, partitioning should be performed again if time constraints art not satisfied in scheduling the partitioned results. Existing FDS-applied methods which consider scheduling in partitioning decide the control step of the node to schedule while selecting nodes for partitioning. In selecting nodes for partitioning, several aspects should be considered together such as added cost or time due to the partition of the node, or the degree of interference due to the scheduling of the node. At this time, the induced force, which means the degree of intereference of scheduling other nodes, is computed all over the control step of the corresponding node and other depending nodes. In this paper, a new FDS-applied partitioning algorithm is proposed, where partitioning is performed using the defined scheduling urgency and relative scheduling urgency of the nodes. Since the nodes are partitioned by the computation of relative scheduling urgencies only at the earliest control step and the latest control step among the assignable steps, the time complexity for the computation of induced force could be improve. Experimental result on the benchmarks show the improvement of execution time of the proposed algorithm compared to the existing FDS-applied methods.

        심박변이도를 이용한 중환자실 입원 환자의 자율신경계 일중변동성에 대한 예비연구

        Objectives A normal circadian rhythm of autonomic nervous system function stands for the daily change of sympathetic and parasympathetic modulation, which can be measured by heart rate variability (HRV). Generally, patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) are prone to sleep-wake cycle dysregulation, therefore, it may have an influence on the circadian rhythm of autonomic nervous system. This study was designed to interpret possible dysregulation of autonomic nervous system in ICU patients by using HRV. Methods HRV was assessed every 3 hours in 21 ICU patients during a 7-minute period. The statistical differences of HRV features between the morning (AM 6 : 00-PM 12 : 00), and the afternoon (PM 12 : 00-PM 18 : 00) periods were evaluated in time domain and frequency domain. Results Patients showed significantly increased normalized power of low frequencey (nLF), absolute power of low frequencey (LF)/absolute power of high frequencey (HF) in the afternoon period as compared to the morning period. However, normalized power of high frequency (nHF) was significantly decreased in the afternoon period. There was no statistically significant difference between the morning period and the afternoon period in the time domain analysis. Conclusions The increased sympathetic tone in the afternoon period supports possible dysregulation in the circadian rhythm of autonomic nervous system in ICU patients. Future studies can help to interpret the association between autonomic dysregulation and negative outcomes of ICU patients.

        Comparison of Aripiprazole and Other Atypical Antipsychotics for Pediatric Bipolar Disorder: A Retrospective Chart Review of Efficacy and Tolerability

        Objective: This study compared the efficacy and tolerability of aripiprazole with that of other atypical antipsychotics by examining patients with pediatric bipolar disorder (PBD) at a child and adolescent psychiatric clinic in a university hospital in Korea. Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 127 pediatric patients with bipolar disorder aged 4-18 years treated at Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric, Yonsei University Severance Hospital between January 2010 and October 2011 to collect demographic and clinical data. Using the Clinical Global Impression (CGI) scales, we evaluated levels of severity of and improvements in symptoms at the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth hospital visits. Results: The mean age of patients was 12.29±3.47 years. The sample included 91 (71.7%) male and 36 (28.3%) female patients. Aripiprazole was prescribed to 62 (48.8%) patients, risperidone to 52 (40.9%), quetiapine to 11 (8.7%), and paliperidone to two (1.6%). Patients treated with aripiprazole had lower CGI-Severity (CGI-S) scores than did patients treated with other atypical antipsychotics at the second and third visits. The CGI-Improvement (CGI-I) scores of patients treated with aripiprazole were lower at the second visit. Treatment with atypical antipsychotics was well tolerated, and no serious or fatal side effects were observed. Conclusion: The present retrospective chart review suggests that atypical antipsychotics may be effective and safe for the treatment of patients with PBD. In particular, treatment with aripiprazole may be more effective than treatment with other atypical antipsychotics in the early phase. These results should be verified in future multi-center controlled studies.
