When a post-combustion CO2 capture process is integrated into coal-fired power plant, the net efficiency of the power plant decreases due to the steam requirements for the regeneration of solvent. This study focuses on minimizing the net efficiency penalty by introducing heat integration in the integrated process. In order to analyze the net power plant efficiency, overall process models are developed with a simulator Aspen Plus®. A pilot-scale CO2 capture process with MEA is modeled and scaled-up to match the commercial capacity. Simulationbased optimization is performed to improve the performance of capture process. The case study is carried out to evaluate several heat integration options and demonstrate how heat integration can minimize the net efficiency penalty. **This research was supported by the Korea Carbon Capture & Sequestration R&D Center(KCRC) through the National Research Foundation of Korea(NRF) funded by the Ministry of Science, ICT(NRF-2014M1A8A1049338).
