A research was conducted about the Reynolds number effect on the projectile with an altitude change. The atmosphere conditions change in accordance with an altitude change. It effects the Reynolds number. To confirm how the phenomena affect the trajectory of the projectile, a computer program is designed with an altitude and a range considered. The MISSILE DATCOM which is based on the semi-empirical method was utilized to get aerodynamic coefficients. The result shows that the Reynolds number considerably changes as the altitude change. It causes to change the drag coefficient of the projectile. As the Reynolds number decreases, the skin friction drag increases significantly. It causes to decrease the maximum altitude and the range.

The gas management system for a vertical launching system must be safely managed within a ship. The plenum and uptake are capable of containing and surviving a full-burning restrained firing without loss of gas management integrity. To secure the safety, the pressure characteristics with a supersonic under-expanded jet on a gas management system are numerically investigated using computational fluid dynamics. The results of present analysis and the preliminary design of the gas management system are described in this paper.

This study describes a range sensitivity of a canard controlled missile. An investigation was conducted into the relative importance of aerodynamic parameters on a guided missile. Also this study was analyzed by quantifying their effects on the missile range. To analyze the range sensitivity of a guided missile, a trajectory analysis program of a guided missile was developed. The range sensitivity analysis was conducted on a thrust, weight, drag and lift. The result of the range sensitivity analysis shows that the design parameters with the greatest effect on the missile range are thrust, drag, weight, and lift, in descending order of importance. The thrust on range extension is quite obvious to extend a range of a guided missile. In particular, the drag exhibited greater range sensitivity than lift at a guided flight. The result also shows that missile range could be maximized by applying the appropriate launch angle and canard pitch-up control.
삼각 Ballute이 부착된 발사체의 수치적 공력해석 연구

Numerical flow-filed computations have been conducted around a projectile with a triangular ballute at Mach numbers of 0.3 ~ 0.9 and angles of attack of $0^{\circ}\;{\sim}\;30^{\circ}$. The expansion shape of a triangular ballute has been determined from both the manufacturing dimensions and the wind tunnel test results. It has been assumed that the shape does not alter after the ballute has been expanded completely. The computed results showed a good agreement with the wind tunnel test results. A sensitivity analysis on the aerodynamic coefficients has been performed to evaluate the quantitative effects on the flight performance. Trajectory simulation results were also in good agreement with the flight test results.
