      • Brain CTA 에서의 조영제 주입량에 관한 연구

        안형택(Hyeng Thack Ahn),장기영(Ki Young Jang),권영현(Young Hyun Kwon) 대한CT영상기술학회 2010 대한CT영상기술학회지 Vol.12 No.2

Purpose The required scan time to obtain the image of cerebral artery is less than 6 seconds when operating brain computed tomographic angiography(CTA) with a 64-channel(or more) multi-detector computed tomography(MDCT). The contrast media injected out of the brain area is not related to medical imaging in body scanning. Instead of the existing injection method, it is possible to acquire the same quality of image if the contrast media is injected with the speed of 5 cc/sec for 50 cc and controlled by the amount of saline(role of Chaser). Materials and methods A new contrast media injection method has been set by a hypothesis that the heart rate and the speed of bloodstream depending on Schad pulse beat are correlated. The research was carried out by measuring heart rate prior to the test with a sample of 100 brain CTA patients. And visual assessment of the Hounsfield unit to the same three points after a 5 point scale quantitative measurements were analyzed. It was confirmed that there was no quality difference between the existing injection method and the new method tested with 100 case images in common. Results The quality assessment of the new injection method showed 0.227 of MANN-Whiney and indicated there was no difference compared to the existing method. Conclusion The research indicates that it was possible to benefit ‘mitigating reaction depended on volume’ from using a small amount of contrast media. However, it is recommended to use both methods to unstable patients for less-skilled technicians because of difficulties in locating region of interest in carotid artery.
