Vol.16 No.3

The bond strength is one of the most important factor in establishing long-term success of esthetic restorative dentistry. So, various restorative materials have been introduced to improve the esthetic and physical properties. Ormocer (organically modified ceramic) was developed as a result of such efforts. This study was performed to compare the shear bond strength of ormocer based adhesive with that of existing dentin adhesive. In this study $Admira^{(R)}$ and $Admira^{(R)}$ bond of the ormocer system are grouped together for ADM, Single $Bond^{(R)}$ which is an one-bottle adhesive and Z-250TM which is hybrid composite resin of BIS-GMA system for SIN, and $Definite^{(R)}$ of ormocer and Etch & $Prime^{(R)}$ 3.0 which is a self etching priming/ bonding agent for ETC. The results of this study were as follows. : (1) In the comparison of shear bond strength according to different adhesive system, shear bond strength was increased in the order of ETC group, SIN group, ADM group. There was no significant difference between ADM group and SIN group. However, there was a significant level of difference between ADM and ETC groups as well as SIN and ETC groups( p<0.05). (2) Examination by a scanning electron microscope showed a well established hybrid layer and resin tag in both ADM group and SIN group, while ETC group showed a minimal formation of the hybrid layer when compared with ADM and SIN groups. From the above results, it may be reasonable to start the clinical application of ormocer system, and it is recommended that ormocer system should be used along with an ormocer based adhesive because ormocer system showed the lower shear bond strength when it used with other existing self etching priming/bonding agent. The self etching priming/bonding agent showed relatively low shear bond strength, and it is considered that the further study should be needed.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo 음악의 특징: 'Black is Beautiful', 'Homeless'를 중심으로

2021 The Journal of the Convergence on Culture Technolo Vol.7 No.3

Ladysmith Black Mambazo is a group of men influenced by South African traditional Zulu a cappella and American black music. The Jubilee Choir of the United States came to South Africa in the 1870s and influenced South African music while performing. Ladysmith Black Mambazo's music can be the result of the combination of the indigenous Zulu a cappella and the American Jubilee music style. This group participated in Paul Simon's album "Graceland" and became world famous. The album won a Grammy Award for sales of millions of copies. After that, they released their own albums and won 5 times Grammy Awards (nominated 15 times) They inherited and developed Zulu music under the philosophy of "preserving musical heritage". As a samely non-Western country, with hope their spirit, inheriting old one and innovating new one, gives positive inspiration for Korean music, I investigated how their music, 'Black Is Beautiful', 'Homeless' are influenced by the western music and inherited their own traditional music in it.

        안시현,최규채,백연경,김영국,김양도,Ahn, Si-Hyun,Choi, Gyu-Che,Beak, Yeun-Kyung,Kim, Young-Kuk,Kim, Yang-Do 한국분말야금학회 2012 한국분말재료학회지 (KPMI) Vol.19 No.5

We report the effect of the chain length of carboxylic acid on the photoluminescence(PL) of $CuInS_2$/ZnS nanocrystals. $CuInS_2$/ZnS nanocrystals with emission wavelength ranging from 566 nm through 583 nm were synthesized with zinc acetate and carboxylic acids with various chain length. In this study, $CuInS_2$/ZnS nanocrystals prepared using long chain carboxylic acid showed more improved PL intensity. The origin of strong photoluminescence of the nanocrystals prepared with zinc acetate and long chain carboxylic acid was ascribed to improved size distribution due to strong reactivity between long chain carboxylic acid and zinc acetate.

Vol.21 No.3

Recent wildfires are direct results of global warming. Most of the existing wildfire prevention has mostly focused on flame detection. However, it does not provide rapid response. In this paper, we develop deep learning-based “smoke” detection on CCTV for quick reaction. we also analyze real-time multi-channel images to monitor a wide area. The system has an accuracy of smoke recognition over 93% for mAP and can analyze 50-channel images simultaneously. A dashboard S/W and emergency alarm system(SMS) was developed for managers to monitor forest fire smoke in real time. Providing real-time information can reduce the loss of life and property from wildfires and enhance protection of critical facilities. we plan to develop a emergency alarm system(mobile app) in the future. As a result, it is expected that forest fire damage will be minimized by checking the forest fire situation in real time.

Vol.35 No.-

This is a thesis on studies of the historical change of Isicathmiya. Isicathamiya is what the folk music factors which Zulu, one of South Africa tribes, has are reflected on the western a cappella. Although Isicathamiya originated with introduction of American Black gospel, I studied only the music not with evidence spread from mouth to mouth but with the accurate audio materials and recoding in this paper. First I had argued about the history. This is because the music is formed with social and cultural background. I ascertained that politics, economy, social, and culture etc. of South Africa have something to do with Isicathamiya as I examined the origin and the historical process of Isicathamiya. The periodical music history was divided into 4 stages such as a formative period, a transition and development period, and the present period from a newspaper record published in Durban in 1891 to the present time. And I examined the periodical features of Isicathamiya based on the important points among features revealed by a representative musician’ s works in each period. Although Isicathmiya, South Africa``s music genre, was developed under the influence of black gospel, it was developed in its own unique music genres beyond the mere imitation and it is causing a great reverberation in the world music market. This thesis has a significant meaning because it studies Isicathamiya``s characteristics by reviewing its historical transition. In 21st century considering diversity and creativity as important things, the trend to lose the identity of the domestic music owing to accepting western music unconditionally must move toward the succession and development of the domestic traditional music. I studied this thesis, hoping that Korean music will try to create a new style like that of South Africa. I hope that such a research as this will continue.

Vol.39 No.1

This paper illuminates the aesthetic spirit of resistance shown in the music of Joseph Shabalala who is a leader of Ladysmith Black Mambazo that is an all-male a cappella singing group of the Republic of South Africa. Joseph Shabalala, as a leader of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, developed Isicathamiya, which is one of the traditional usic genres of Zulus, in South Africa. He also introduced the music of Zulus to the world after winning Grammy Awards. The name of the group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, originates from the following three words. Ladysmith is a town in KwaZulu-Natal, which is a hometown of Shabalala’s family. Black refers to a black ox that is considered the strongest farm animal in the Zulu language. Mambazo refers to an ax in the Zulu language and includes the meaning of ‘chop down.’ Taken all together, Ladysmith Black Mambazo means that “the strongest axes from Ladysmith chop down any competitors.” Joseph Shabalala formed Ladysmith Black Mambazo in 1964. They initially started out by performing at wedding ceremonies and other gatherings and soon became successful. Afterward, they tried to enter Isicathamiya competitions, but they were not allowed to compete since they were ‘so good.’ Instead, they were welcomed to perform at competitions as an invited choir. Ladysmith Black Mambazo started with 7 members. Since their debut, they have been actively performing and released over 40 albums so far. In accordance with their philosophy to preserve their musical legacy, they have inherited and further developed ‘Isicathamiya,’ a traditional music of Zulus, which features a free format. Especially, Joseph Shabalala expressed in his music the thought of resistance to western imperialism and colonialism during the time when South Africa was a British colony. In Joseph’s Isicathamiya music, there exists a distinctive African mentality that is not normally shown in Western arts. This is because the music expresses his own experience during the colonial period and his desire for independence through so-called ‘the spirit of resistance’ that reflects the mentality of South Africans at the time. In this respect, this paper sheds lights on the aesthetics of Joseph Shabalala through his life, performance and musical activities. Additionally, the twentieth century was an era of postmodernism, when an idea of individuality and originality was emphasized in addition to diversity and cultural pluralism. Thus, this paper also examines Joseph Shabalala’s independent artistic spirit based on his lyrics which reveal the spirit of resistance to apartheid in South Africa and introduce Isicathamiya music of South African Zulus to the world. It is a powerful thing that through works of art or artists’ points of view, a traditional culture of a certain country can have an influence upon people from different countries in the world and can interact with them. Isicathamiya gives a strong humanitarian message to the world by revealing social irrationality that was taking place in South Africa and criticizing militarism that divided people by color. This aesthetic spirit of resistance to the irrational reality appears to be accepted as a trend in the twentieth century.
