The near-optimal control algorithm for central cooling system has been developed for minimizing energy consumption while maintaining the comfort of indoor thermal environment in terms of the environmental variables such as time varying indoor cooling load and outdoor temperatures. The optimal set-points of control parameters with near-optimal control are supply air and chilled water temperatures. The near optimal control algorithm has been implemented by using Lab VIEW program in order to analyze energy performance for central cooling control system.

In this study, the effects of prediction and reset control of outdoor air temperature on energy consumption for central heating system are researched by using TRNSYS program package, and the control performances with the suggested methods of prediction and reset control of outdoor air temperature are compared with the existing ones. As a result, the value of coefficient of determination R² for the predicted outdoor temperatures is improved and the suggested control method shows maximum 21.8% energy saving in comparison with existing control ones.

The control characteristics for radiant panel heating system with automatic thermostatic valves were researched by computer simulation. The equivalent R-C circuit and radiation heat transfer analysis of enclosure analysis methods were used for the unsteady energy analysis of floor radiant heating system. As control methods for automatic thermostatic valves, room air temperature sensing method, water temperature sensing method, proportional control method and On-Off control method were applied to research effects on heating performance and control characteristics.

In this study, the control characteristics and effects of heating control methods on the heating performance and energy consumption of a hot-water heating control system of a residential apartment were researched by simulation and experiment. The purpose of this study is to evaluate operational strategies for improving an indoor thermal environment and reducing f energy consumption in the radiant floor heating system of a residential apartment.

The fuzzy control algorithm for HVAC system has been developed for minimizing energy consumption while maintaining the comfort of indoor thermal environment in terms of the environmental variables such as time varying indoor cooling load and outdoor temperatures. The optimal set-points of control parameters with fuzzy control are supply air temperature, chilled water temperature and condenser temperature. This study has been done by using TRNSYS program in order to analyze the HVAC system response. As a result, the fuzzy control algorithm with PID algorithm shows good energy performance in comparison with conventional one.

A simulation and experimental study for energy flow dynamics of floor radiant heating system were performed. The study was done under both environmental chamber and a house with several rooms. The unsteady energy analysis method using equivalent R-C circuit and radiation heat transfer analysis of enclosure analysis method with simple structured rooms were used for computer simulation. Also, first order dynamics with time delay in analyzing the return water was considered. The results of temperature changes of the simulation study are good fit with the ones of experimental one.
