Here, we report on the structural and the optical properties of polycrystalline NiO thin filmsprepared by using the thermal oxidation of metallic Ni. After the deposition of the Ni films, theywere placed in a thermal oxidation furnace at different temperatures (400, 500, 600, 700, and 1000C), resulting in mean crystallite sizes between 6 nm and 40 nm. From the optical absorptionspectra, we determined the energy gaps of these films. Interestingly, the energy gaps were in therange of 3.13 3.29 eV, which were smaller than those of the bulk.
Growth-temperature-dependent Ferrimagnetism in Mn3Ga Thin Films

We report on the growth of and the modified ferrimagnetism in DO22-structured Mn3Ga thin films epitaxially grown on GaSb(001) substrate by using molecular beam epitaxy. We have observed that the magnetic properties strongly depend on the growth temperature. The net magnetic moments of the Mn3Ga films grown at 30 ◦C and 200 ℃ are 0.23 µB/Mn and 0.75 µB/Mn atom, respectively. The as-studied Mn3Ga film is found to exhibit a relatively small coercivity around 400 Oe, which differs greatly from the hard magnetic properties of bulk Mn3Ga.
Structure and Magnetic Properties of Cu-doped Bi2Te3 and Sb2Te3 Single Crystals
Duong Anh Tuan,Jeongyong Choi,신유리미,조성래,박현민,김원동,황찬용,Dang Duc Dung 한국물리학회 2012 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.61 No.10
We report on the structure and magnetic properties of Bi1.985Cu0.015Te3 and Sb1.988Cu0.012Te3 single crystals prepared by the temperature gradient solidification method. The crystals structure was rhombohedral and the lattice constants decreased with the addition of Cu. The hole carrier conduction was observed in Hall effect and thermopower measurements. The carrier densities and thermopowers at 300 K were 1.538 × 1020 cm-3/ 218.5 μV/K and 1.132 × 1021 cm-3/36.8 μV/K for Bi1.985Cu0.015Te3 and Sb1.988Cu0.012Te3, respectively. We could observe a strong diamagnetism with weak ferromagnetic hysteresis, indicating a mixture of non-magnetic and ferromagnetic ordering between Cu-ions in Bi2Te3 and Sb2Te3.
Magnetism and Transport Properties of MnAs/GaAs Hybrid Structure
Duong Van Thiet,Dang Duc Dung,신유리미,조성래 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.62 No.10
Epitaxial [MnAs(20 ˚A)/GaAs(tGaAs)]4, tGaAs = 100, 200 and 300 ˚A, hybrid multilayer were grown on GaAs(001) substrate using molecular beam epitaxy. Compared to bulk MnAs, the enhancement of the Curie temperature about 340 K was observed. By decreasing the GaAs spacer layer from 300 to 100 ˚A, the magnetization was found to increase from 48 to 163 emu/cm3 possibly due to enhanced exchange interaction in narrower space layer, while the coercive field decreased from 690to 494 Oe. We have observed the variable range hopping conduction for all samples.
