There are many reports on the stability of drugs in powders and tablets. The stabilities of ascorbic acid in the antacid preparations, such as calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, magnesium trisilicate, magnesium alumino silicate, and dried aluminum hydroxide gel under various humidities were examined. From the result of the experiment, it was assumed that the concentration of ascorbic acid, the amount of water-vapor sorption, and the physical character of the antacid ingredients were the main factors, influencing the degradation of ascorbic acid. The ascorbic acid, mixed with carbonates, such as calcium carbonate, was degradaded rapidly, while the preparation with dried aluminum hydroxide gel was slightly degraded after 10 days. A 2% ascorbic acid in the prepation was rapidly degraded than 10% ascorbic acid in the preparation.
경골 근위부 골절에 대한 Blade Plate 내고정술

Purpose: This study demonstrates the effectiveness of the blade plate as an implant for the operative management of proximal tibial fractures. Materials and Methods: Twelve proximal tibial fractures (AO classification, 10 type A and 2 type C) were treated by direct or indirect reduction and condylar blade plate fixation. The condylar blade plate was fixed on the anteromedial surface of the proximal tibia and cancellous bone graft was performed in 4 fractures with severe cortical comminution or bone defect in early cases. At the final follow-up assessment, the patients were evaluated as to subjective symptoms, objective findings, and radiographic findings. Results: All fractures were healed in an average of 13.2 weeks (range, 9.0 to 25.0 weeks). There were 3 major complications of a delayed union, a 6-degree varus malunion, and a reduced range of motion of the knee related with associated multiple fractures of the ipsilateral lower limb, but there were no soft tissue problems, loss of fixation, infection, nonunion, and traumatic arthritis. A few patients complained a prominence of the plate on the anteromedial side of the proximal tibia. Conclusion: Blade plate fixation is a reliable method of stable fixation to obtain good results for proximal tibial fractures by early rehabilitation and good fracture healing, particularly in patients with osteoporosis and cortical comminution.

To make a stable o/w emulsion, the effects of egg lecithin as an emulsifier and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as an auxiliary emulsifier on the physical stability of emulsion were investigated. The oil-in-water emulsion system was manufactured by microfluidizer and evaluated the physical stability. Average particle size and size distribution of emulsion was measured by dynamic light scattering analyzer and interfacial tension was measured. From the interfacial tension tested, critical micelle concentration of the egg lecithin was 0.1 %w/v and optimal concentration for the preparation of emulsion was 1.0 %w/v. The mean particle size was about 0.2㎛ which was suitable for injections. The short-term accelerated stability studies were conducted by centrifugation, freeze-thaw method and shaking of the emulsion samples. The addition of PVP was caused the reduction in the particle size and improved the physical stability of emulsion. These results suggested that a mixed interfacial film comprising the egg lecithin and PVP was formed at the o/w interface and it was effective in preventing phase separation under thermic or mechanical stress. We used antineoplaston A10 (A10) as a model drug which is peptide and amino acid derivative having a action to the living organism against the development of neoplastic growth by a nonimmunological progress. It has a poor solubility in water and there may be a difficulty in formulation of A10. Emulsion formulation study about A10 was performed. Solubility of A10 in emulsion was about five times as high as that in water. From the results of solubility and partition coefficient. almost A10 molecules in o/w emulsion exist in the interface between oil and water.

As the volumes increase fast, the management of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment and the waste from ELV become growing problems in Korea. To more efficiently manage the electrical and electronic waste, from January of 2014, Korean government decided to introduce a target system instead of the EPR system which had been adopted in 2003. The target system newly introduced is similar with the EU WEEE Directive. The new scheme set recycling and recovery target for electrical and electronic waste with a minimum rate of 3.9kg per person per annum in 2014, and the rate is going to rise to 6kg per person per annum by 2018. It is expected to be difficult to achieve the targets without putting more efforts. This study was designed to find the policy means to achieve the targets. Also this study suggests to introduce EPR system to improve the recycling of waste from vehicles and end-of-life vehicles.

Bioequivalence of two terazosin tablets, the Hytrine^(TM) (II-Yang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.) and the Terasin^(TM) (Daewon Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.), was evaluated according to the guideline of KFDA. Sixteen normal male volunteers (21∼30 years old) were divided into two groups and a randomized 2×2 cross-over study was employed. After one tablet containing 2 ㎎ of terazosin was orally administered, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and the concentration of terazosin in serum was determined with a HPLC method using spectrofluorometric detector. The pharmacokinetic parameters (AUC_t, C_(max) and T_(max)) were calculated and ANOVA was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters. The results showed that the differences in AUC_t, C_(max) and T_(max) between two tablets were 6.02%, 3.44% and -3.67%, respectively. The powers (1-β) for AUC_t, C_(max) and T_(max) were 98.05%, 98.34% and 29.81%, respectively. Detectable differences (Δ) and confidence intervals were all less than ±20% except T_(max), AUC_t and C_(max) met the criteria of KFDA for bioequivalence, indicating that Terasin^(TM) tablet is bioequivalent to Hytrine^(TM) tablet.
