Photodissociation Dynamics of 4-Aminobenzonitrile+(Water)n Clusters
송재규,박승민,Mi Ae Lee,남상환,Hye Sun Park,Nu Ri Cheong,류설 대한화학회 2008 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.29 No.11
The photodissociation dynamics of 4-aminobenzonitrile+(water)n (4ABN+Wn) (n = 1-18) clusters was investigated using a home-built linear-tandem time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometer consisting of two stages. Massselected cluster cations (n = 8-18) were irradiated by photons with energies ranging from 2.15 to 2.95 eV in the field-free region at the second stage. The average numbers of ejected water molecules were obtained at various photon energies from the photofragmentation mass spectra, from which the average binding energies of water molecules were estimated. Also, the optimum structures of the clusters and binding energies of the water molecules were suggested via theoretical calculations. The local excitation (LE) band observed in the photodissociation spectra of the 4ABN+Wn (n = 1-3) clusters and 4ABN2 + shifted to blue with increase in the number of solvated water molecules.

The effects of molecular weight of o-cresol novolac resins on the physical properties of cured epoxy molding compounds were investigated. The higher the molecular weights, the higher Tg and water absorptivity as well as the lower linear thermal expension coefficient and specific volumes were observed. The equation for the crosslinking density should be corrected by Front coefficient depending upon molecular weight. Intermediate molecular weights gave higher fracture toughness and lower fracture energies.

The effects of catalysts, reaction temperatures, reaction times, CO pressures, and solvents as reaction medium in the synthesis of polyamide with flexible didodecyloxy chain in para position under CO atmosphere were investigated. ODA and p-didodecyloxy-2,5-diiodobenzene were used as momomers in the CO carbonylation. The molecular weight of polyamides were measured by GPC using polystyrene standards. The highest molecular weights were obtained in the condition of PdCl₂(PPh₃)₂catalyst with excess TPP, 10atm of CO pressure, 120℃ of reaction temperature, 2hrs of reaction time, and chlorobenzene solvent.

The roles of coordinating ligands (TOPO, OA, HDA, and TDPA) for the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles are investigated. Various shapes (hexagonal cone, hexagonal plate, and rod) and sizes (5-100 nm) of ZnO nanoparticles are prepared in relation to the coordinating ligands. The hexagonal shapes (≤ 100 nm) are synthesized with TOPO and OA, while smaller size nanorods (5 × 30 nm) are with TOPO and TDPA. The relative intensities of two distinctive emission bands centered at 385 and 500 nm, which are related to the exciton and defect states, respectively, depend on the crystal qualities of ZnO nanoparticles affected by the coordinating ligands. The intense UV emissions with the reduced visible emissions are found in the monodisperse nanoparticles such as hexagonal cones and nanorods, suggesting that the monodispersity as well as the crystallinity is closely related to the coordinating ligands. The blue-shift of photoluminescence and absorption edge is observed in the nanorods, because the sizes of the nanorods are in the quantum confinement regime.
The Effects of Ambient Ions on the Growth of Gold Nanoparticles by Laser Ablation in Liquid
권혜진,Kuk Ki Kim,송재규,박승민 대한화학회 2014 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.35 No.3
Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were synthesized by laser (Nd:YAG, λ = 1064 nm) ablation of a gold target immersed in various aqueous electrolyte solutions (7 mM of LiCl, NaCl, KCl, NaBr, and NaI) as well as in deionized water. The surface plasmon absorption and EDX of AuNPs so produced as well as their TEM images were analyzed to investigate the effects of ambient ions on the growth and aggregation of NPs. The size of AuNPs was reduced by laser ablation in the presence of chloride and bromide ions while it increased drastically when AuNPs were formed in iodide solution. Interestingly, triangular nanoplates were synthesized only in iodide solution. Surface chemistry on AuNPs in various electrolyte solutions was explored to elucidate the role of ions on the size and stability of AuNPs.
