        Metastatic renal cell carcinoma in the thyroid gland: ultrasonographic features and the diagnostic role of core needle biopsy

        Purpose: The aims of this study were to present the ultrasonographic (US) features of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in the thyroid gland and to evaluate the diagnostic utility of fineneedle aspiration (FNA) and core needle biopsy (CNB). Methods: Eight patients with nine metastatic RCC nodules in the thyroid glands who were treated from January 2002 to March 2015 in a single tertiary hospital were consecutively selected and retrospectively reviewed. US features and clinical history were obtained from the institution’s medical database. FNA was performed nine times on eight nodules and CNB was performed six times on six nodules. The diagnostic utility of FNA and CNB was evaluated. Results: All nine nodules showed mass formation without diffuse thyroid involvement. On ultrasonography, metastatic RCC nodules were solid (100%), hypoechoic (100%), and ovalshaped nodules with a well-defined smooth margin (88.9%) and increased vascularity (100%, with 55% showing extensive vascularity). No calcifications were noted in any nodules. Lymph node metastasis and direct extension to nearby structures beyond the thyroid gland were not found. One FNA (11%) was able to confirm metastatic RCC, whereas all six CNBs confirmed metastatic RCC. Conclusion: Metastatic RCC appears as oval-shaped hypoechoic solid nodules with well-defined smooth margins, no calcifications, and increased vascularity on ultrasonography. Characteristic US features along with a previous history of RCC should raise clinical suspicion, and CNB should be performed to make an accurate diagnosis.

        PLS 시행 전후 경기도 유통 농산물의 잔류농약 실태 비교 분석

        본 연구는 2019년 1월 1일부터 전체 농산물에 확대 적용된 농약 허용물질목록관리제도(PLS)가 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 2018년부터 2020년까지 경기도 유통 농산물 검사 자료 28,693건을 대상으로 잔류농약 실태를 조사하였다. 전체 검사 실적 대비 기준 초과 비율은 2018년 1.0%, 2019년 1.2%, 2020년 1.2%로 나타났고, 잔류농약 검출 비율은 2018년 12.9%, 2019년 25.1%, 2020년 37.3%로 증가하였다. 2019년 기준초과 114건 중 55건이 일률기준(0.01 mg/kg) 적용이었고, 2020년 기준초과 115건 중 66건이 일률기준 적용이었다. 이를 개선하기 위해서는 비의도적 오염, 미등록 작물에 관행적 사용, 부정 농약에 대한 관리가 필요해 보인다. Fluquinconazole은 비의도적 오염이 원인이었고, diazinon, chlorothalonil, methabenzthiazuron은 미등록 작물에 관행적 사용이 원인이었다. Chinomethionat은 과거에 폐기된 농약 성분으로 밀수 농약 사용이 원인이었다. 본 연구 결과와 이후 모니터링 자료는 앞으로 제도 보완 및 현장 관리 강화를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. In order to confirm the impact of the Positive List System (PLS) being applied to all agricultural products from January 1, 2019, we analyzed 28,693 points of inspection-related data on agricultural products distributed in Gyeonggi-do from 2018 to 2020. The ratio of cases exceeding the standard for the total inspection performance was 1.0% in 2018, 1.2% in 2019, and 1.2% in 2020. Out of the 114 cases exceeding the standard in 2019, 55 were applied on a Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) of 0.01 mg/kg, and out of the 115 cases exceeding the standard in 2020, 66 were applied on a MRL of 0.01 mg/kg. To improve this, it seems necessary to manage unintentional pollution, conventional use for unregistered crops, and illegal pesticides. Fluquinconazole detection resulted from unintentional contamination, and diazinon, chlorothalonil, and methabenzthiazuron detection resulted from conventional use in unregistered crops. Chinomethionat is a pesticide component that was discarded in the past and its current use has been attributed to the smuggling of pesticides. This study and future monitoring data can be used as reference data for system supplementation and on-site management reinforcement.

      • 1P-763 Microbiome analysis of methanogenic communities in 14 biogas plants with different feedstock and seasons

        Comparative microbiome analysis of bacteria and archaea compositions and dynamics in 14 commercial biogas plants fed with different organic wastes was carried out by next generation sequencing technology. The dependency of bacterial and archaeal communities on the substrate type and process parameters was observed. Methanosarcinaceae and Firmicutes were abundant in the high methane production plant (>1㎥CH<sub>4</sub>/㎥d), whereas Methanosaetaceae, Proteobacteria, and Chloroflexi were predominant in the low methane production plant (<0.3 ㎥CH<sub>4</sub>/㎥d). The results in this study suggest that the application of bacterial and archaeal microbiome adapted to specific feedstock might enhance or depress the anaerobic digestion of such waste materials if the operation conditions were maintained properly, or not.

        개선된 사람 혈장중 세파클러 농도 정량법을 이용한 세파클러 캡슐의 생체이용률 측정

        After establishing improved HPLC analytical method ofcefaclor in human plasma samples, a bioavailability study of cefaclor capsules was conducted according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). The standard calibration curve using an HPLC with UV detector was constructed in a range of 0.0324--16 μg/m1. The 6% perchloric acid instead of 6% trichloroacetic acid was used to precipitate plasma protein. The HPLC chromatograms were precisely and accurately resolved when spiked with human plasma spiked with cefaclor and cephalexin (internal standard). Twenty healthy male Korean volunteers received two commercial cefaclor capsules, Neocef ' capsule (Jinyang Pharm. Co., Ltd) or Ceclor" capsule {Lilly Korea. Co., Ltd.) at the 250 mg cefaclor in a 2 x 2 crossover study. There was a one-week washout period between the doses. Plasma concentrations of cefaclor were monitored for 8 hours after oral drug administration. AUC, the area under the plasma concentration-time curve from time zero to 8 hr (13 points), was calculated by the linear trapezoidal rule method. C,,,a" (maximum plasma drug concentration) and Tmax (time to reach Cma,) were compiled from the plasma concentration-time data. Analysis of variance was carried out using logarithmically transformed AUC, and Cmax. No significant sequence effect was found for all of the bioavailability parameters indicating that the cross-over design was properly performed. The 90% confidence intervals of the AUC, ratio and the Cmax ratio for Neocer/Ceclor" were 0.9049 S S < 1.0304 and 0.9776 5 S 1.226, respectively. These values were within the acceptable bioequivalence intervals of 0.80-1.25. Thus, our study demonstrated the bioequivalence of Neocef"/Ceclor" with respect to the extent of absorption.

        개선된 HPLC분석법을 이용한 세파클러 모노하이드레이트 250 mg 캡슐의 생물학적동등성

        A bioequivalence study of CKD $Cefaclor^{(R)}$ capsule (Chong Kun Dang Pharm Co., Ltd) to $Ceclor^{(R)}$ capsule (Lilly Korea Co., Ltd.) was conducted according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). Twenty four healthy male Korean volunteers received each medicine at the cefaclor dose of 250 mg in a $2{\times}2$ crossover study. There was a one-week washout period between the doses. An improved high-performance liquid chromatorgraphy (HPLC) analytical method with UV detection was used to determine plasma cefaclor concentration in human volunteers for 8 hr after oral drug administration. The area under the plasma concentration-time curve from time zero to 8 hr ($AUC_{0-8hr}$) was calculated by the linear trapezoidal rule. the $C_{max}$ (maximum plasma drug concentration) and $T_{max}$ (time to reach $C_{max}$) were compiled from the plasma concentration-time data. Analysis of variance was carried out using logarithmically transformed $AUC_{0-8hr}\;and\;C_{max}$. No significant sequence effect was found for all of the bioavailability parameters indicating that the cross-over design was properly performed. The $90{\%}$ confidence intervals of the $AUC_{0-8hr}$ ratio and the $C_{max}$ ratio for CKD $Cefaclor^{(R)}$ and $Ceclor^{(R)}$ were $0.9400{\leq}{\delta}{\leq}1.0345$ and $0.8858{\leq}{\delta}{\leq}1.1021$, respectively. These values were within the acceptable bioequivalence intervals of 0.80-1.25. Thus, our study demonstrated the of CKD $cefaclor^{(R)}$ capsule was bioequivalent to $Cefaclor^{(R)}$ capsule with respect to its bioavailability.

        경기 북부 지역 유통 엽경채류의 농약 잔류량 분석

        This study aimed to investigate pesticide residues in 160 stalk and stem vegetables marketed in Northern Gyeonggi-do. The QuEChERS method using GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS was employed to analyze the residues of 341 pesticides in the samples. The maximum or lower than the residue limit was recorded in 75 samples (46.9%), while 4 samples (2.5%) exceeded the maximum residue limit (MRL). Thirty-nine kinds of residual pesticides were detected including fungicides (14), insecticides (22), herbicides (2), and plant growth regulator (1). Carbendazim and pendimethalin were the most frequelntly detected pesticides. Fenitrothion, procymidone, and diazinon exceeded MRL in garlic chives, and Welsh onion. This indicated that these vegetables along with water celery should be constantly monitored.

      • Performance comparison of two newly isolated Methanothermobacter for Power-to-Gas system

        Power-to-Gas(P2G) is the one of systems storing electricity. Using this system, load fluctuations due to utilizing renewable energy can be appropriately coped. In this system, surplus electricity produced from renewable source can be converted into hydrogen by water-electrolysis and produced hydrogen would be utilized to methane along with carbon dioxide. In this study, two hydrogenotrophic methangen that are applicable to biological methane production was isolated from sludge and the performance for methane production was evaluated in same condition. Minimal medium such as basic anaerobic medium was utilized for cell maintenance and methane evaluation. Carbon dioxide and hydrogen were supplied as a carbon and energy source at various ratio and rate. Produced methane and cell growth was analysed using GC-TCD and spectrophotometer by time course, respectively. Based on these results, methanogen suitable for P2G system could be selected.

        잡곡 농산물의 잔류농약 안전성 조사

        In this study, the pesticide residues in 106 commercial cereal grains were monitored from Februaryto July 2021. For the investigation, 40 domestic and 66 imported products from large, small-to-medium sizedoffline and online distribution channels, were collected and analyzed by using the multiresidue method for 341 pesticideson GC/ECD, GC/NPD, GC/MSMS, UPLC/PDA, HPLC/FLD, LC/MSMS. Pesticides were detected in total of 8samples (7.5%), of which one was from big box retailers, two from small and medium-sized distribution stores, andfive from online shopping mall. Five (4.7%) samples were found to have pesticide residues greater than the maximumresidue limits (MRLs). The detected pesticides in kidney beans (1 case), mung beans (6 cases), and sorghum (1 case),were MGK-264, chlorpyrifos, thiamethoxam, malathion, piperonyl butoxide, and pirimiphos-methyl. Specifically, anexcessive amount of thiamethoxam was found from the imported mung bean (5 cases). 본 연구는 2021년 2월부터 7월까지 잡곡 106건을 수거하여 잔류농약 실태조사를 하였다. 대형, 중소형 및 온라인 유통매장을 중심으로 국내 잡곡 40건과 수입 잡곡 66건을 수거하였고, GC/MSMS, GC/ECD, GC/NPD, LC/MSMS, UPLC/PDA, HPLC/FLD를 이용하여 다종농약 다성분분석법으로 잔류농약 341종을 분석하였다. 잔류농약이 검출된 잡곡은 대형유통매장 1건, 중소형 유통매장 2건, 온라인 유통매장 5건으로 총 8건(7.5%)이었고, 5건(4.7%)에서는 농약잔류허용기준을 초과하였다. 이들 잡곡에서는 MGK-264, chlorpyrifos, thiamethoxam, malathion,piperonyl butoxide, pirimiphos-methyl 등 6종의 농약 성분이 검출되었다. 검출된 잡곡은 강낭콩(1건), 녹두(6건), 수수(1건)이다. 검출된 잡곡 중 농약잔류허용기준을 초과한품목은 수입 녹두(5건)로 미얀마산이었고, 초과한 농약 성분은 thiamethoxam이었다.

        경기 북부 내 직거래 농산물의 잔류농약 실태조사 및 위해성 평가

        In this study, we investigated pesticide residues in 207 agricultural products distributed by direct trade in the northern area of Gyeonggi Province. A total of 94 general agricultural products and 113 eco-friendly agricultural products collected from local grocers and cooperative stores were analyzed by multiresidue method for 263 pesticides using GC (gas chromatography)/ECD (electron capture detector), GC/NPD (nitrogen phosphorus detector), GC-MS/MS (tandem mass spectrometry), LC (liquid chromatography)/PDA (photodiode array detector), LC/FLD (fluorescence detector), LCMS/MS. All samples showing pesticide residues were general agricultural products collected from local food stores. The pesticide residue levels of 14 samples (6.8%) were below the maximum residue limits (MRLs) and one of them (0.5%) exceeded the MRLs. Sixteen pesticides were detected from samples of the following produce items: spinach, young cabbage, perilla leaves, mallow, cucumber, chives and water dropwort. The safety of the detected pesticides was assessed by monitoring the daily intake estimate (EDI) and the daily intake allowance (ADI) based on the amount of pesticides detected. The ADI percentage range (the ratio of EDI to ADI) was 0.0134-61.6259% and there was no health risk connected with consuming agricultural products in which pesticide residues were detected.
