Impact of COVID-19 and Associated Preventive Measures on Cardiometabolic Risk Factors in South Korea

Background: During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, preventive measures mandated by government policies have included the closure of exercise facilities and movement restriction, which can lead to an unhealthy lifestyle. We investigated the effect of these preventive measures on metabolic parameters in individuals with cardiometabolic disorders. Methods: In this retrospective, observational study of patients who visited the hospital at least twice a year for the past 4 years, changes in cardiometabolic factors during the COVID-19 pandemic (2019–2020) were compared with changes in the same cohort at the same annual time points during the previous seasons of 2016–2019. Results: A total of 1,485 individuals with a mean age of 61.8±11.7 years were included in the analyses. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of patients whose metabolic syndrome worsened increased significantly by 21% compared with the 2018–2019 season. Body mass index increased by 0.09±1.16 kg/m2 in the 2019–2020 pandemic period, whereas it decreased by –0.39±3.03 kg/m2 in 2018–2019 and by –0.34±2.18 kg/m2 in 2017–2018 (both P<0.05). Systolic blood pressure increased by 2.6±18.2 mmHg in the COVID-19 pandemic period, while it decreased in the three antecedent seasons (all P<0.05). Lipid profiles worsened in the pandemic period compared with the previous years. Framingham coronary heart disease risk score also increased significantly. Conclusion: Nationwide strategies to maintain cardiometabolic health are necessary during contagious disease pandemics like COVID-19 to mitigate the adverse health effects of pandemic-preventative strategies.

The purpose of this thesis is to understand the relationship between the College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) and the Mathematics Level Assessment(MLA) which is conducted in P University. There are high correlations in grades, subject areas and college entrance types between grades of mathematics B-type of the CSAT and scores of the MLA. However, the many students showed substantial differences between the grades in the two tests. On the basis of these analysis results, we suggest plans for improving the implementation of the MLA and the teaching-learning methods about College General Mathematics.

Background: We investigated whether <i>Lactobacillus plantarum</i> strain LMT1-48, isolated from Korean fermented foods and newborn feces, is a suitable probiotic supplement to treat overweight subjects.Methods: In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, 100 volunteers with a body mass index of 25 to 30 kg/m<sup>2</sup> were assigned randomly (1:1) to receive 2×10<sup>10</sup> colony forming units of LMT1-48 or to a placebo treatment group. Body composition was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, and abdominal visceral fat area (VFA) and subcutaneous fat area were measured by computed tomography scanning. Changes in body fat, VFA, anthropometric parameters, and biomarkers were compared between the two treatment groups (ClinicalTrials.gov number: NCT03759743).Results: After 12 weeks of treatment, the body weight decreased significantly from 76.6±9.4 to 75.7±9.2 kg in the LMT1-48 group but did not change in the placebo group (<i>P</i>=0.022 between groups). A similar pattern was found in abdominal VFA between the two groups (<i>P</i>=0.041). Serum insulin levels, the corresponding homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance, and leptin levels decreased in the LMT1-48 group but increased in the placebo group (all P<0.05). Decrease in body weight and body mass index by treatment with LMT1-48 was correlated with increase in <i>Lactobacillus</i> levels significantly. LMT1-48 also increased <i>Oscillibacter</i> levels significantly, which were negatively correlated with triglyceride and alanine transaminase levels.Conclusion: Administration of LMT1-48 decreased body weight, abdominal VFA, insulin resistance, and leptin levels in these subjects with overweight, suggesting its anti-obesogenic therapeutic potential.

We investigated the temperature-dependent photoluminescence spectroscopy of colloidal InZnP/ZnSe/ZnS (core/shell/shell) quantum dots with varying ZnSe and ZnS shell thickness in the 278~363 K temperature range. Temperature-dependent photoluminescence of the InZnP-based quantum dot samples reveal red-shifting of the photoluminescence peaks, thermal quenching of photoluminescence, and broadening of bandwidth with increasing temperature. The degree of band-gap shifting and line broadening as a function of temperature is affected little by shell composition and thickness. However, the thermal quenching of the photoluminescence is strongly dependent on the shell components. The irreversible photoluminescence quenching behavior is dominant for thin-shell-deposited InZnP quantum dots, whereas thick-shelled InZnP quantum dots exhibit superior thermal stability of the photoluminescence intensity.
공연예술 제작환경의 뉴 패러다임 연구: 서경공연예술센터 SKON1관 디지털 트윈 제작사례를 중심으로

본 연구는 팬데믹 이후 공연예술계의 변화 움직임을 살펴보고, 디지털 트윈 기술 기반 가상 공연장 및 가상 공연 콘텐츠 제작 사례를 고찰함으로써 향후 공연예술 제작 환경이 변화해 나가야 할 길을 타진하는 것에 최 종 목적을 둔다. 이와 같은 목적의 달성을 위해 본 연구는 다음과 같이 진행되었다. 우선 첫 번째 장에서는 공연 실황 영상 및 실시간 스트리밍 공연 등 온라인 플랫폼으로 진출한 공연예술계 현황을 살펴보았다. 이후 이른바 메타버스 로 총칭되는 가상공간 영역으로 진출한 공연 사례를 살펴보며 그 한계점을 짚어보았다. 또한 시뮬레이션 등의 기능으로 타 산업에서 중용되는 디지털 트윈 기술의 개념과 공연예술 접목에 있어서의 가능성을 언급하였다. 본 연구의 두 번째 장에서는 디지털 트윈 개념을 적용하여 구축한 가상 공연장의 실제 사례를 제시하고 그 활용성에 관해 논하였다. 다음으로는 해당 공연장에서의 시연을 전제로 제작된 가상 공연 콘텐츠 제작 사례를 살펴보고 해당 콘텐츠가 작금의 공연예술계에 전하는 의의를 제시하였다. 미처 준비되지 않은 변화의 시기, 공연예술은 유례없는 위기를 맞았지만 다른 관점에서 보면 산업의 확산을 꿈 꿀 수 있는 기회이기도 하다. 이와 같은 상황에서 디지털 트윈 기술을 공연예술에 접목하여 제작된 사례를 통해 포착된 공연 제작 환경의 뉴 패러다임은 반드시 받아들여야 할 시대적

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze mathematical errors in descriptive problems of the Mathematics Level Assessment(MLA) which is conducted in P University. We classified mathematical errors, which are easily made in solving the descriptive problems of the MLA, into nine types as misused data, misinterpreted language, logically invalid inference, misunderstood theorem or definition, unmatched solution, technical errors, omission of solving process, ambiguous errors, and unattempted errors. With classifying the errors in nine types, we analyzed the errors of students, who are in intermediate and low level grades, by descriptive problems. On the basis of these analysis results, we suggest plans for improving the implementation of the MLA and the teaching-learning methods about College General Mathematics.
