Carbyne Enriched Carbon: A Maintenance-free Self-charging System

Self-powered system (SPS) will be the promising power source in this modern era where the customized electronics gadgets are ruling the world. However, the impedance matching (energy harvester and storage), high-cost, and long-time durability of SPS in the previous report stop them from further development towards commercialization. The development of new materials with the property of both energy harvesting and storage is the utmost importance to extend the application of SPS. In this work, we report the bifunctional properties of free-standing paper-like carbyne-enriched carbon (P-CeC) as both energy harvester (triboelectric nanogenerator) and storage unit (supercapacitor) in the formulated SPS unit as a first report. The changes in the work function & surface potential of P-CeC film were carefully investigated using KPFM and UPS study. The fabricated C-CeC TENG shows far superior performance compared to the state of art of the polymer-based TENG. In addition, the energy storage performance of P-CeC SSC was systematically studied and evaluated. Finally, the self-charging capability of this P-CeC SPS is demonstrated, which charge 750 mV (380s) with energy storing efficiency of 93.75 %. This result shows that the development of bifunctional materials has great potential for the maintenance-free system towards customized electronics gadgets.

The full-length cDNA encoding Perilla frutescens limonene synthase (PFLS) (603 amino acids, GenBank accession no. D49368) was cloned. To elucidate the role of PFLS in gene regulation, we transiently transformed full-length PFLS into tobacco plants. PFLS mRNA was first detected in the intact leaves of the plants at 6 h, and the LS transcript level increased after 12 h in leaves treated with oxidative stress-related chemicals. The transient overexpression of PFLS resulted in increased transcription of NbPR1 and NbSIP in Nicotiana benthamiana leaves. Thus, our result confirmed that the infiltration of PFLS gene act as a transcriptional regulator of NbPR1 or NbSIP genes in the tobacco.
바이오에너지 자원으로서 강원도 지역에서 수집된 수수의 작물학적 특성 평가

1. 수수 성숙기에 간장 길이를 조사한 결과 6개체(12.2%) 가 300 cm 이상의 길이로 바이오매스가 우량한 것으로 파악되었으며, 10개체(20.4%)정도는 200~300 cm 사이의 평균 길이를 나타내었다. 2. 성숙기의 수수 줄기 직경에는 큰 차이를 보여준 개체는 없었으며, 대부분의 수수 수집종들은 2.2±0.1 cm 정도의 직경을 갖는 것으로 드러났다. 3. 본 연구에 시험한 수수 수집종들은 엽장이 60~70 cm 정도의 길이에 속하는 유전자원이 22 개체가 되는 것으로 나타났으며, 7개체는 70 cm 이상되는 것으로 나타났다. 4. 엽형은 49% 정도의 개체가 협단으로 분류되었고, 대부분의 엽맥색은 백색으로 나타났다. 5. 본 연구에 사용된 대부분의 수수의 수형은 반밀수 타원형이 많은 것으로 나타났으며, 수장은 평균적으로 20~30 cm에 달하는 것으로 나타났다. Forty nine accessions of the Sorghum bicolor (L) Moench collected from different agronomical zone of Gangwondo province, Korea were characterized morphologically on field trial. Plant length, stem diameter, tiller number, ear type, ear length, ear width, leaves length, leaves width and leaf color differed significantly in the cultivated accessions. Out of forty nine test accessions, six accessions (12.2%) showed comparatively taller height, measuring more than 300 cm, while, other ten test accessions (20.4%) were measured from 200~300 cm. There were no significant differences in the diameter of stem in the collected test accessions (2~3 cm). Of the total test accession, seven accessions showed leaf length of over 70 cm, and twenty two test accession revealed leaf length between 60-70 cm. Forty nine of the collected test accessions showed narrow and short leaves with white mid vain. These results provided additional information for the breeding programs and conservation of Sorghum bicolor as a bio-energy crop.

The objective of this study was to establish the optical storage condition in cutting slips of Lycium chinense Mill. We investigated the different influential growth factor of this plant including two soil types (soil and vermiculite) and storage methods (gauze, parafilm, vinyl, and paper). Our result revealed that the formation of axillary bud was highest (4.8 ± 0.75 ea) from the cutting slips stored in vinyl and vermiculite treatment. Root length was long (2.8 ± 0.13 ea) in parafilm storage using soil. Maximum plant height was 135.33 ± 12.81㎝ with gauze storage using vermiculite. The number of leaves was maximum (130 ± 2.5 ea) at 90 days from the cutting slips of gauze storage using vermiculite. Highest number of fruit was harvested (149 ± 16.05 ea) from the cutting slips stored in parafilm and grown in vermiculite. It can be concluded that the storage treatment and soil type influence the affecting to general growth of Lycium chinense Mill.
