        철을 소재로 한 친환경조형물 제작 연구 : 제작과정을 중심으로

        The Environmental formations are stand between nature and human being. Nature and the human create new space where they could interchange to each other. The iron is one of the material which is able to recycle and refine again and again as like as the nature circulates and born again and again. An author has concluded the iron is best for the environmental-friendly material which feels and breaths with the time and space by becoming one with nature. The iron has been using in the facilities like a road, harbors, and the buildings in town for a long time because, it is durable and formative even it cost relatively inexpensive. During the investigation, we have made progress meaningfully about application method and utilization in the environmental formations of stainless steel, one of the iron material that basis of our society. We had mainly used stainless steel, but we have found limits in formational expression from limited colour senses. Therefore we have applied black stainless steel while we were looking for the material which is able to try various colour senses and also it is durable.We have investigate various methods of representation by harmonized arrangement of individually painted closing stainless steel(stabled stainless steel which keeps from rust, rusted stainless-steel and creating black film on the surface stainless steel from inverse conception). Therefore we could have result of durabilities and abundant effects of representation. And it corresponds to aim of creation from the beginning that the way of wise harmonization between nature and the human being. Also the result of inverse conception that rusted stabled stainless steel which keeps from rust, gave us enough pleasure while we were working on this investigation. Finally we have realized creating black film on the surface stainless steel has much room for consideration to be element of formation for the environmental formations or the structures. Because it breaths with environment when it has born even it looks like upward suddenly and spontaneously from the earth which goes against a natural law.

        디지털 시대의 한국공예문화와 비전

        오늘날의 공예는 실용적 제작에 부가된 미적 가치라는 고전적인 개념 이상의 의미를 지닌다 현대의 공예적 생산은 한 사회의 . , 지적?문화적 양상을 반영하며 그 사회가 가지고 있는 가치체계는 물론 가치관의 변화를 추동하기도 한다. 오늘날 공예라 함은, 인간이 창조한 물건 이상으로서의 개념으로, 문화?경제?사회 등 한 사회의 가치를 반영하고 변화 시키는 수단이라 할 수 있으며, 따라서 본 연구는 선미(善美)의 융합이라는 개념으로서의 공예에 초점을 맞추기보다는 ‘상징’을 중심으로 한 다양한 개념으로 변화하는 것에 주목한다. 상징은 그것이 속한 사회의 집단의식과 전통사상, 가치관, 생활 방식의 차이에 따라 의미전달과 해석의 차이를 나타낼 수 있으며 새로운 문화를 형성하기도 한다. 특히, 하나의 공동체 안에 형성되어 있는 가치체계들을 교환함으로서, 매우 효과적인 의사소통의 수단일 뿐만 아니라 사회적인 의미를 담지하는 중요한 역할을 하게 된다. 이에 본 연구는 문화 체계 속에서의 상징의 특성을 고찰하고, 이러한 현상과 한국공예의 현 상황을 통해 가능성 및 개선, 전개방향을 예측해 본다. 또한 문화변동에 관한 연구를 통해서, 공예가 상징생산으로서의 문화 현상이 된다는 가정 하에, 상징생산을 중심으로 한 한국 공예의 문화 그리고 그에 따르는 비전을 가늠하고자 한다. 현재에 와서 생활세계는 기술 혁명으로 점점 가상과 현실이 혼재되고, 디지털이라는 코드는 그것을 뒷받침하는 가장 강력한 원동력이 되고 있다. 인간의 본래적인 삶의 형태인 아날로그적 삶을 지탱하고, 디지털이라는 가상 현실적인 경향들 사이에서 인간의 인간다움을 담보할 수 있는 방법들에 대한 논의가 필요한 시점이 아닌가 한다. 본 연구의 단초는 디지털 혁명으로 일컬어지는 작금의 현실에서 공예에 대한 진지한 문제제기를 위한 예비적인 형태의 질문과 기초적인 대응과 모색이라 할 수 있다. Crafts of nowadays have a meaning more than classical concepts which is called aesthetic value added to functional manufacturing. Contemporary production of crafts reflects intellective, cultural aspects of a society, and it occasionally - also, it pursues and leads the value system and changes of society. Crafts of nowadays are meanings more than objects created by human, and they can be called a measure that can possibly reflect many of values in a society such as culture, economy, politics and change them. accordingly, this research focuses on crafts in change into a variety of concepts with priority given to emblems rather than those as a combination of - virtue and beauty. Symbol might have different communications and interpretations in accordance with the differences in group consciousness, value and lifestyle that each society has had, and happened to form new culture. Especially, by exchanging value systems that are formed in a community, it is not only a very efficient measure to communicate with each other, but also plays a decisive role of including social meanings. In this research, features of emblems in cultural systems will be considered and through these existing conditions and current situations of Korean craft, possibilities, renovations, unfolding directions will be expected. Additionally, through the research on cultural changes, we can recognize that crafts become a cultural phenomenon as a symbolic form of production, and we are going to make an attempt to understand the culture of korean crafts which focuses on symbolic form of production and also its vision in accordance with it. As the time goes to the present, the fiction and reality are mixed up and exist together in the world of our current life because of technological renovation, and the code called "digital" is becoming the most powerful source that supports that sort of situation. Now the discussion is required, in my opinion, on the ways to secure humanity in the era of digital and virtual reality and to support the analog life style that is original for the human. The purpose of this study could be both the preliminary form of questions and accordingly fundamental response and search to raise questions about craft in the face of reality billed digital revolution.

        공동주택 단지내 옥외공간을 위한 환경조형작품 제작 및 설치에 관한 연구

        오늘날 도시를 중심으로 대규모 공동주택단지의 조성과 보급이 크게 늘어나게 됨으로서 주거환경 또한 당연히 문화적 공간이어야 한다는 인식이 크게 확산되었다. 주거공간에서 삶의 질을 높이기 위한 방편으로 여러 가지 복합적 욕구가 증대된 것이다. 독특한 외관의 건물이나 편히 쉴 수 있는 환경, 놀이와 문화예술 그리고 쾌적한 자연을 함께 느낄 수 있는 새로운 복합문화 공간개념이 요구된다. 본 연구는 서울특별시 마포구 하중동 101번지 한강밤섬자이아파트의 공동주택단지 내에 환경 조형물〈지혜의 문〉제작 및 설치에 관한 연구이다. 〈지혜의 문〉의 주제 및 표현은 우주와 대자연 그리고 인간을 조화시킨 문주형 사각기하조형으로 공동주택단지 내 옥외 수변 데크 산책 공간에 설치함으로서 주민들의 활기찬 커뮤니티 공간의 환경 아이콘으로 자리매김할 수 있도록 하는데 그 역점을 두었다. 〈지혜의 문〉은 비교적 한강에 가까이 위치한 공동 주택단지 내 옥외공간에 설치해야 하는 장소성을 고려하여 사용재료로는 연구자가 그동안 선행 연구하였던 흑화 스테인리스 스틸재료를 적용하였다. 흑화 스테인리스 스틸은 조형재료로서 자연부식과 손상에 강하여 반영구적으로 안정성과 관리성, 심미적 측면에 유용한 내기후성 조형 재료이다. 또한 조형물 몸체 상단전후면에 부분적으로 색유리 모자이크기법을 사용하여 자칫 단조로울 수 있는 기하조형의 변화와 주제표현에 심도를 더하였다. 또한 조형특성으로는 전체 형태를 지탱하는 별도의 내부 뼈대 없이 외형구조물 그 자체가 전체구조역학의 강도를 탄탄하게 유지할 수 있는 분할절곡 채결기법을 고안하여 설계, 제작하였다. 이러한 방법은 야외 조형물의 특성상 돌연히 발생하는 손상이나 훼손에 대하여 부분수리 및 교체가 가능한 장점이 있다. “환경조형물〈지혜의 문〉”은 공동주택의 주거커뮤니티를 형성하는 조성목적에 걸맞게 심미성과 실용성을 함께 적용함으로서 주민들의 정서적 친근함과 문화적 공동체의식을 자연스럽게 향유할 것을 기대하였다. With a rapid increase in the creation and distribution of large-scale multi-housing complexes in the city today, people have widely believed that residential environments should be a cultural space. There have been increased various multiple desires as a way of upgrading the quality of life in the residential space. A new concept of multiple cultural spaces has been demanded, in which people could have buildings with unique appearances, comfortable environments, and enjoy diverse entertainment, culture and arts, and pleasant nature. This study examined the creation and installation of the environmental sculpture entitled 〈Gate of Wisdom〉 located within the multi-housing complex of Hangang Bamseom Xii Apartment, 101, Hajung-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul Metropolitan City. The theme and expression shown in 〈Gate of Wisdom〉 constituted a quadrilateral stainless form harmonizing the universe, Mother Nature and humans, and it included a strolling space near the water's edge outdoors within its multi-housing complex, thus focusing on its role as an eco-friendly icon of vigorous community space for citizens. In light of the location of 〈Gate of Wisdom〉 that had to be in outdoor space within the multi-housing complex relatively close to Han River, black treated stainless steels that had been studied previously by the artist were used. Black treated stainless steels were weather-resistant sculptural materials with semi-permanent stability, manageability and aesthetic advantage, resistant to corrosion and damage. In addition, the change in its seemingly monotonous geometric sculpture and the depth of its subject matter expressions were improved by partially applying a colored glass mosaic technique to the upper parts of the front and back sides of its sculptural body. Besides, in terms of its formative characteristics, a partition bending connection technique was devised and employed in a way that the external structure could firmly maintain the strength of the entire (structural) dynamics without having additional internal frames that would support the entire form. This technique had an advantage of partial repair and replacement for the damages that could occur suddenly, such as in some cases of outdoor sculptures. It is expected that “environmental sculpture 〈Gate of Wisdom〉” will naturally provide its residents with emotional intimacy and a sense of cultural community thanks to the applications of aesthetics and practicality appropriate to its purpose of creating the residential community of the multi-housing complex.

        신철기문화엑스포(Neo-Iron Expo) 개최 방안 연구

        문화예술 활동은 근본적으로 생명활동이기에 삶을 증진하는 중심에너지이다. 본 연구에서는 21세기 인류의 보편적 삶이 개인의 행복과 다중의 만족을 지향하며, 밝고 건전한 문화예술 활동의 장을 중심으로 전개되어야 한다고 전제하였다. 또한, 융복합시대 문화장으로서 조형디자인의 사회적 역할과 그 의미에 관한 진전된 논의를 위하여, 지난 2007년에 연구 발표한 「21세기 신철기문화의 중요성과“Neo Iron Age Movement”문화정책 제안연구」와 2008년 학술세미나 〈철기문화의 의미와 새로운 지평: Neo-Iron Age 문화예술 운동 제안〉을 보다 구체화하고, 그 실천 전략을 모색하는데 연구의 초점을 두었다. 선행연구에서도 제시한 바와 같이 ‘신철기문화엑스포’의 개최 목적 및 의의는 산업과 경제논리를 중심으로 형성되어 온 철의 쓰임새와 그 역량을 문화예술과 융합시킴으로써 사회문화 전반에 걸친 의식 전환이라는 거대한 동반 상승효과(synergy)를 이룰 것이라는 점이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 먼저 지구의 생명력과 철의 상관성을 인체 및 동식물에서의 작용을 통해 살펴봄으로써 철에 대한 인식이 물질 차원에서 정신의 차원, 즉 하드에서 소프트로 전환되어야 하는 당위성을 제시하였다. 다음으로 현시대의 사회문화 현상 전반에서 드러나고 있는‘융복합’의 의미와 문화 실천장으로서의 엑스포의 역할 변화에 관해 살펴보고, 새로운 문화장(the filed of culture) 형성을 위한‘신철기문화엑스포’(Neo-Iron Expo)의 개최 의미와 실천 방안을 모색하였다. 또한 세계에서 첫 번째로 열리게 될 신철기문화엑스포(Neo-Iron Expo)의 개최지 선정을 위한 두 지역의 타당성을 비교 분석하였다. 이와 같은 과정을 통해 신철기문화엑스포가 새로운 패러다임을 여는 신인류의 출발점임을 선언하고, 철의 생명력과 문화예술의 생명력 융합을 통해 생산과 소비의 인식을 전환하며, 과학과 기술의 연구 방향을 확고히 하고, 지구 생태 환경을 개선하는 실천 강령을 도출하는 장으로서 그 역할을 할 것이라는 점을 밝히고 있다. 아울러 미래 세계평화와 인류복지를 선도하는 국가 아젠다로 제안하고 있다. The cultural/artistic activities can serve as core energy that improves people’s lives since the former is fundamentally vital activities. The premise of this thesis is that human lives in 21st century should seek for personal happiness and many people’s satisfaction based on bright and healthy field for cultural/artistic activities. Moreover, for further debate on the social role of formative arts design -a cultural sector in the technology convergence era- and its meaning,‘A study on the importance of the Culture of the Neo Iron Age in the 21st Century and the Development of Cultural Policies in“The Neo Iron Age Movement”’ that was reported in 2007 and‘The meaning of Iron Culture and new era: a proposal of a campaign for Neo-Iron Age Cultural Movement’that was the topic of a seminar of 2008 were further analyzed, and it was focused on researching strategies to fulfill them. As proposed in advanced studies, the main goal and meaning of organizing Neo-Iron Expo is to change people’s thinking in overall social and cultural sectors –to create a huge synergy effect- by blending iron’s use and capacity that were formed based on commercial/economic thinking with culture/arts. First, this thesis represents the necessity for the ideas about iron to be transferred from a material level to a mental one -from Hardware to software- by looking into the correlation between the earth’s vitality and iron based on their effect in the human body, animals and plants. Next, the meaning of“technology convergence”–a buzzword in current social/cultural sectors- and the changing role of expo as a medium for cultural practices are analyzed. The meaning of organizing“Neo-Iron Expo”for forming the new field of culture and plans for fulfilling them are researched. Furthermore, the validity of selecting between the two regions for hosting Neo-Iron Age Expo –the first expo ever in the world- were compared and analyzed. Through these procedures, Neo-Iron Expo was announced to be the start of new humankind that opens a new paradigm and is clarifying it changes awareness of production and consumption, consolidates the direction of science and technological studies through the convergence of iron vitality and culture & art vitality and will play a role as a venue of practicing code for improving ecological environment of the earth. In addition, implementation direction as the national agenda leading world peace in the future and welfare for mankind is being suggested.

        21세기 신철기문화의 중요성과 “Neo Iron Age Movement" 문화정책 제안 연구

        Korean people loved culture and were superior in handling materials. Particularly in ancient times, the whole area of the Korean Peninsula was rich in iron and the culture of the Iron Age flourished in the region. What is more, the culture of the Iron Age became a driving force for the modern industrialization of Korea in the 20th century, which was a marvelous success unprecedented in world history. With the rapid progress of globalization and informatization, each country in the world is competing for the development of original and creative cultural contents. This means that the identity of national culture and local culture is increasingly important as a driving force of future national industries. The present study purposed to establish the cultural identity of Korea in a new way and to suggest policies and execution plans for the establishment of cultural identity. This is a part of national policies for exploring new cultural identity, and cultural identity will be a strategic keyword for enhancing pride in our culture and leading the culture of the world. In addition, this study examines the current cultural identity of this country as a suzerain state of culture in the new age for developing stepwise execution plans, and reviews the meanings and historical and philosophical values of the culture of the Neo Iron Age, which is the origin of today’s digital civilization, from the viewpoint of the history of human civilization. The 21st‐century Neo Iron Age Movement is a movement of arts and culture in the 21st century for the peace of human beings, going beyond the instrumental concept in the progress and utilization of materials including iron in the historic age, and it mean the transition from the age of labor products to the age of cultural products. This will open the future of new paradigm that realizes harmony between material and spirit and respect for the environment and human life. A huge synergy effect is expected from the combination of traditional industrial and economic logic with cultural and artistic activities. 우리민족은 문화를 사랑하고 물질을 다루는 능력이 뛰어났다. 특히 고대에는 한반도 전체에 철이 풍부하여 화려한 철기문화를 꽃피웠다. 또한 철기 문화는 20세기 한국 근대산업의 원동력이 되어 세계에 유래 없는 성공신화를 이루었다. 세계화와 정보화의 급진전에 따라 각국은 독창적이고 창의적인 문화 콘텐츠를 개발하고자 노력하고 있다. 이것은 민족문화와 지역문화의 정체성 확립을 국가 미래산업의 원동력으로 보는 것이며, 그 중요성이 날로 강조되고 있음을 의미한다. 본 연구는 한국의 문화정체성을 새로운 방식으로 규명하고 이를 확립하기 위한 정책과 실행방안을 제시하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이는 새로운 문화의 정체성을 탐구하는 국가정책으로서, 우리문화에 대한 자긍심 고취와 더불어 세계문화를 선도할 수 있는 전략적 핵심 키워드가 될 것이다. 또한 새로운 시대의 문화종주국으로서 단계별 실행방안을 개발하기 위하여 현시대의 문 화 정체성을 종합적인 시각에서 조망하고, 동시대 디지털문명의 시원이 된 신철기 문화의 의미와 시대 정신적 가치를 인류 문명사적 관점에서 연결하여 재조명하고자 한다. 21c Neo Iron Age Movement 의 문화정책 제안은 역사 시대의 철을 포함한 물질의 진보와 활용에 대한 지금까지의 도구적 개념을 넘어 인류 평화를 위한 21c예술 문화 운동으로, 노동 상품 시대에서 문화 상품 시대로의 전환을 의미한다. 이는 곧 물질과 정신의 조화, 환경과 생명존중이 실현되는 새로운 패러다임의 미래를 열게 될 것이다. 지금까지의 산업과 경제 논리의 중심에서 그 시각을 문화 예술 활동과 융합시킴으로서 거대한 시너지 효과를 이룰 것으로 기대된다.

        함평 운기일주대황금박쥐 조형물제작에 관한 연구

        This study describes how the theme emerges and the shaping process takes place for a golden bat (copper-winged bat) figure created for the opening of 2008 Hampyeong World Butterfly & Insect Expo, Korea. The golden bat has been designated as a protected species by the Ministry of Environment and endangered species. In 1999, natural habitats where groups of them go into hibernation were discovered at an abandoned gold mine in Hampyeong-gun in Jeollanam-do. Throughout the world, this place is one of the world's largest habitats for hibernation in a group. The making of Hampyeongcheonji-Ungi-Ilju Great golden Bat sculpture is especially significant in that, in the face of global warming and extreme climate changes caused by excessive consumption of fossil fuel resources, nature conservation and being eco-friendly have gained more importance globally. The golden bat is a rare animal which dwells only in environment-friendly habitats with limited human access, so its domestic habitats have remained off-limit to the general public even though people want to observe such sites and to have ecological experience there. In particular, the preservation of environment-friendly ecosystem and educational purposes definitely call for creating an image and shaping a sculpture of a golden bat. The past three years of artwork commissioned by the Hampyeong-gun county governing body has produced this piece of plastic art, to coincide with the launch of Hampyeong World Butterfly & Insect Expo. Against this historical and cultural backdrop, the need to keep research record on how the artwork is created leads to the preparation of this paper. Before embarking on producing a figure, in advance, basic academic research was focused on the properties of the ecology and shapes of general bats, and golden bats. In addition, data on bats' images, folklore, stories, and specific examples of images that appeared in both East and West ranging from ancient era to modern times were collected and a cultural comparative study was conducted, through which multiple interpretation and approach were attempted. The comparison of bats' representative meanings in the positive sense and their public images in legends of both East and West and literary works led to the exploration of their new images, providing theoretical backgrounds that encompass cultural differences between the East and the West. The review of bat patterns in Korean artifacts made a comprehensive survey of images of bats in Korean culture. In addition, the sophisticated drawing of how bats move ecologically in reality and the life-size model which was anatomically precise laid a foundation for the final formation. The overall scheme in composing a shape adopts the holistic approach to golden bats' symbolism and cultural meaning. The concept of the universe scheme set up in this scheme transcends time and space, and detailed formative factors and the total concept consist of development process and origin of human civilization. In the sense of symbolizing the harmony and immortality of the universe, the overall outer structure adopted silver as its material while only gold was used in creating the golden bat sculpture.

        오복포란(五福抱卵) 조형물 제작에 관한 연구 : 난생신화와 기복상징을 중심으로

        A myth derived from Greek mythos is a story of divine creatures out of the ancients' experiences which is passed down for generations. There are many kinds of myth: universe myth regarding the birth and end of the universe; astrogeny myth regarding sky, earth, sun, moon, and star; egg-birth myth; culture origin myth; and birth myth. Among others, birth myth in which life, religion, history of each region are reflected tells the events and phenomenon experienced by ancient people by means of metaphor and symbol, connecting their sentiments and spirits from the past to the present and showing the truth of internal psychology of the times. 'Five Blessings' refers to the best lucks humans seek in their whole life, including longevity, wealth, health and peace, love of virtue, and peaceful death. This study aims to investigate the new theme of Fortune-Praying Symbol (GibokSangjing) - especially its expression and value - by interpreting the pioneering spirit for new life as the notions of dream and hope, believing that fortune can be changed favorably, and looking deeper into the inner workings of humans to embrace and cushion against distress. Particularly a bat is an animal best representing five blessings. Combining birth myth with a folk tale of bat is an important setting that can symbolically show the universe' origin and order as well as the circulation of life. It intends to tell the plot and birth of new myth and is a keyword of the Five Blessings Incubation (ObokPoran) sculpture. The Egg-shaped Five Blessings Incubation (Nanhyung ObokPoran) sculpture is made based on the belief that the sculpture serves as a medium to allow for emotional communication with humans, by extending the theme and its scope of expression. It is implicit in the idea that the sculpture not only displays human's desire for esthetic expression of life or plays a symbolic role, but also results in mental process that can purify the minds of audience when they watch and appreciate the sculpture. Accordingly, it can be further interpreted as a tool for healing. This sculpture is harmonized with a number of elements such as a bat symbolizing five blessings, gold representing wealth, and gems meaning permanency and psychotherapy harmonized, and implies that auspicious energy is gained in the shape of egg which stands for a great talent and can be felt and delivered through visual-perceptual contact. Base on such notion, hope the ObokPoran sculpture be interpreted in other studies as a friendly sculpture symbolizing a pray for blessing in which material and spirit are linked together. 신화(myth)는 그리스어의 mythos에서 유래되어 고대인의 경험 중 신성한 존재들에 대해 전해져 내려오는 이야기로 후대에 이르러 신화로 탄생한 것이다. 우주의 탄생과 종말에 관한 우주신화는 하늘, 땅, 해, 달, 별에 관한 천체 기원신화, 난생신화, 인류기원신화, 문화기원신화, 건국신화 등을 대표적으로 들 수 있는데 그 중에서도 특히 민족의 삶과 종교, 역사가 녹아들어 있는 각 지역별 탄생신화는 고대인들이 경험한 사건과 현상에 대하여 은유와 상징을 통해 이야기 한 것으로, 정서와 인간 정신을 과거에서부터 현재로 이어주며, 시대적 내면심리의 진실을 보여주고 있다. ‘오복’이란 장수(長壽), 부귀(富貴), 강녕(康寧), 수호덕(收好德), 고종명(考終命)을 말하며, 사람이 태어나 살면서 누릴 수 있는 최고의 복을 의미한다. 이러한 오복의 발복을 근거로 하여 새로운 삶에 대한 개척 정신을 꿈과 희망의 개념으로 해석하고 인간의 내면을 좀 더 깊이 읽어내고, 그것을 보듬고 완충해 줄 수 있는 새로운 기복상징을 주제로 하는, 표현방법과 그 가치에 주목하여 이를 연구의 목적으로 두고 있다. 복을 나타내는 다양한 상징 매체 중 박쥐는 오복을 가장 잘 나타내는 대표적 동물이다. 탄생신화와 박쥐 설화의 접목은 우주의 근본 질서와, 생명의 순환 고리 등을 상징적으로 표현하게 되는 중요한 설정으로 새로운 신화의 구성, 신화의 탄생을 이야기 하고자 함이며, 이는 오복포란 조형의 키워드라 할 수 있다. 난형의 오복포란 조형물은 주제와 그 표현 범위를 확장하여 조형물이 인간과 감정을 교류하는 매개체라는 개념으로 접근하였다. 조형물이 인간의 삶에 미(美)적 표현 욕구를 추구하거나 혹은 상징의 역할만이 아니라, 형상을 바라보는 시지각 행동이 감상자의 마음을 정화 하는 정신적인 행동으로 이어진다는 개념으로, 보편적 조형 의미를 넘어 하나의 치유적 역할과, 그 도구로 해석되어 질 수도 있다는 데서 출발하였다. 오복을 상징하는 박쥐의 형상, 영원불변과 부를 상징하는 황금, 영속성과 심리치료의 의미를 가지는 보석 등 여러 요소들이 융화되어지며, 대기(大器)를 상징하는 알의 형상 안에서 상서로운 기를 더하고, 시지각적 접촉을 통해 그 기운을 느끼거나 전달할 수 있다는 의미를 내포한다. 오복포란 조형물은 이러한 개념을 근간으로 물질과 정신이 하나로 조우하는 친근감있는 기복상징 조형물 연구로 해석 되기를 희망한다.

        철을 이용한 실내외 환경조형물 제작에 관한 연구

        The development of industry from ancient times to the present has been underlaid with abilities to handle iron. Assuming that the value and utility of iron as a material of formative arts and crafts have not been appreciated properly, the present study purposed to suggest methods of utilizing iron as a formative material of contemporary arts and crafts. For this purpose, we reviewed the basic properties of iron and examined different kinds of iron and iron alloys. In addition, we investigated the strong points and excellencies of iron, looked for methods of creating environmental formations using iron and evaluated the aesthetic value of !fon. Iron is a widely used important material because it has high strength, hardness and tenacity compared to other metals and the properties can be enhanced to some degree through heat treatment. However, because pure iron is too tender and impractical, it is alloyed with other elements. Among alloys, stainless steel has beautiful surface and high resistance against corrosion, so it is usable without surface treatment such as coating and painting and, as a result, it does not cause environmental contamination. Thus the material is considered to have many positive aspects for the environment. Steel material is economically efficient due to the large amount of deposits. Raw material can be mass-produced and it can be formed and processed into final products. Furthermore, its workability such as cutting and welding is higher than other structural materials, so the material is suitable for part processing and assembly industries. However, because iron is easily corroded and oxidized in the air, it needs to have separate chemical treatment such as surface treatment and coating. For this, external materials with improved surface treatment and corrosion-resistance are being developed recently and one of them is weathering steel. Weathering steel is less corrosive in the air and highly corrosion- resistant compared to ordinary steel. In addition, a stable film is formed over time, which prevents the progress of corrosion and reduces the cost of structure maintenance. Because of these advantages, weathering steel is spotlighted as a new material distinguished from existing finishing materials and expanding its application as an external material of construction. In addition, it is an environment- friendly external material in that it can be used as it is without additional artificial surface treatment. One of patterns that can be called 'contemporary' in fine art since the 20th century is the emergence of iron formations based on welding technology, and another is the establishment of the concept of environmental formations. Formations have a direct relation with vanous materials that have their own uruque properties. With the materials, artists express their ideas in natural forms, and one of their important jobs is to discover beauty latent in the materials. The plasticity, permanence and economic efficiency of Iron suggest new possibility of creation in terms of material and technique. In addition, the durability, heavy feel and gigantic scale of iron make it a suitable material of environmental formations in harmony with urban spaces of contemporary society. Environmental formations are structures installed inside and outside buildings to improve the beauty of surrounding environment and to contribute to emotional stability. They enrich the culture of human community and create new spaces for interaction between man and nature. This is a concept compatible with circulation of nature, and IS consistent with the penTlanent circulation of iron in the aspect of the recycling of iron. The author linked the changing process of fonnations to the concept of circulation in living organic bodies through changes over time in color and texture of weathering steel and contrast between weathering steel and stainless steel.

        의식주 생활용품에 나타난 길상문양에 관한 연구

        From the moment of birth, all men are supposed to go through great times and hard times in the course of coping with what lies ahead for them. Whatever position one may hold, every human being has to confront the inevitable times, or the vicissitudes of life. When the most difficult time in one's life comes, some people resort to religion while others seek help from close associates. Also there are people who ward off misfortune in advance to prevent such occasions or wish for good luck as they exchange words of blessing at the beginning of the New Year. Regarding these activities to pray for good fortune, the East is no different from the West. In the realm of patterns, these activities are simplified in auspicious patterns. The target of this study is bat patterns among diverse auspicious patterns. Therefore, this study separates the examination on bat patterns to provide examples of various bat patterns and to go further by attempting classification according to shape and meaning. Another reason for writing this research paper is that recording infinite meanings bat patterns connote can serve as a cornerstone for future research.
