The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of circuit training workout on the body composition and physical fitness of 2nd grade middle school boys (equivalent to 9th graders in US), who are still in growth phase. After categorizing the students, who have volunteered to participate in the study after school, into controlled (workout group) and comparison groups, the 16 students in the controlled group partook in circuit training workout program. Paired t-test, two-way ANOVA, and repeated measure one-way ANOVA were performed on the collected data. As a result, the members in the controlled group displayed significant loss in weight, body fat, body fat percentage and BMI. As for physical fitness, they improved in cardiopulmonary endurance, muscle strength, flexibility and reflex. The result clearly indicated that circuit training workout had statistically significant impact on improving body composition and physical fitness of male middle schoolers. It is highly recommended that schools encourage circuit training workouts during PE classes in order to promote healthy body composition and physical fitness of middle school boys, who are stillin growth phase.

Vol.25 No.2

This study was carried out to investigate how the repetitive loaded exercise in a hot environment affects the body temperature, thermal sensation and rating of perceived exertion. As a result, the following conclusions were obtained. Changes in body temperature appeared the highest immediately after exercise in both two groups in the mean skin temperature and a significant increase in body temperature was shown in the second exercise compared with the primary exercise(p<.001). Furthermore, it appeared that there is the main effect according to each group and the measuring time(p<.001, p<.05). Temperature of the tympanic membrane showed a significant increase in temperature in both two groups immediately after exercise, and significantly increased in the second exercise compared with the primary exercise(p<.5). In addition, it appeared that there are the main effect and interaction effect between the group and time interval for measurement(p<.001, p<.05). In the changes of thermal sensation and Rating of perceived exertion of the exerciser, thermal sensation significantly increased immediately after the exercise with no difference in both two groups compared with a steady stage, and decreased in the recovery stage again and were restored to normal level(p<.05). Furthermore, appeared that there is only the main effect according to the group(p<.001). The change of Rating of perceived exertion of the exerciser showed a significant increase cumulatively by the measurement time in both two groups(p<.05), and it appeared that there is only the main effect according to the measurement time(p<.001). So, to integrate the result so far, a detailed approach through the application of a variety of thermal environment and exercise methods is to be required for the further study later.
