Mobile internet access using such devices as PDAs and cellular phones becomes popular as mobile technologies grow. However, the characteristics of small screen devices such as small screen size and pen-based input cause many usability problems. In this study, a human factors experiment was conducted to identify the factors affecting the usability of information search on a PDA. Factors manipulated in the experiment included use of wheel equipment, scroll dimension, and screen orientation. Task completion time, error frequency, and subjective satisfaction level were measured. In addition, various users' behavioral patterns such as scanning routes and mainly used scrolling methods were analyzed. Scroll dimension has a significant effect on task completion time. Scroll equipment and screen orientation affect subjective satisfaction level. The results could be applied to designing information structure of web sites for mobile use by providing vertical scroll and using external scroll equipments.

고령근로자의 작업환경 실태와 건강검진 자료를 분석하여 그들의 건강한 생활과 삶의 질을 향상 시킬 수 있는 정책의 기초자료를 마련하고자 시도되었다. 대상자는 부산, 경남지역에 소재하는 41개 사업장에서 유해인자에 노출되어 작업하는 공정에 있는 50세 이상 근로자 112명(남성91명, 여성 21명)을 대상으로 소음, 분진, 유기용제, 중금속, 작업형태 및 작업강도 등을 측정, 분석하였으며, 건강검진 자료는 일반건강 진단 표를 이용하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 대상자의 평균연령은 54.9(남성 55세, 여성 54.7세)세였으며, 평균근무기간은 8.7년이 였으며, 조사대상 사업장중 71.5%가 50인 이하의 근로자를 고용하고 있는 사업장이 였다. 2. 소음에 폭로 대상자 중 31.3%가 90dB(A)인 노출 기준치을 초과하였으며, 그 외의 분진, 유기용제, 중금속 등의 노출기준치를 초과한 대상자는 없었다. 3. 조사대상자 중9%는 청력이 비정상이였으며, 78.6%의 대상자는 경작업과 중등작업을 하였으며, 52.7%는 전신을 이용하여 작업하는 형태였다.

In order to obtain basic information for the establishment of effective industrial safety programmes in heavy industries & construction companies, accident records for 366 injured workes were collected from January, l989 to December 1991 and analyzed. The results were as follows : 1. The over-all incidence rate of industrial accidents was 2.98% per year 2. Accidents were common in the workers who are in thirties and twenties. 3. According to the duration of services, the workers with jobs on above than 3 years was the most frequent victims (64.2%) 4. According to the view point of working time, the highest incidence was observed just before the end of the work (17:00-19:00). 5. According to the month of year, the incidence was higher in August (14.0%) and May (14.2%), and lowest in January (3.3%). 6. The most common type of accidents was overexertion (24.9%). 7. According to the job, the highest incidence was observed fabrication. 8. According to the site of injuries, the incidence was higher the truck (27.0%) and fingers (25.1%).

The fragility curves for CFRD dams are derived in this study for probabilistic damage estimation as a function of a ground motion intensity. The dam crest settlement, which is a widely used damage index, is used for minor, moderate, and extensive damage states. The settlement is calculated from nonlinear dynamic numerical simulations. The accuracy of the numerical model is validated through comparison with a centrifuge test. The fragility curve is represented as a log normal distribution function and presented as a function of the peak ground acceleration. The fragility curves developed in this study can be utilized for real time assessment of the damage of dams. 본 연구에서는 지반진동 강도에 따른 콘크리트 표면차수벽 석괴댐(CFRD)의 확률론적 피해예측을 위하여 취약도 함수를 개발하였다. 댐의 손상평가에 널리 사용되는 지표인 댐마루 침하량을 손상지수로 사용하여 경미(Minor), 중간(Moderate), 심각(Severe) 손상수준을 정의하였다. 침하량은 댐 표준단면에 대한 비선형 동적 수치해석을 통하여 계산하였다. 수치해석 모델은원심모형시험결과와 비교하여 정확성을 검증하였다. 취약도 곡선은 대수정규분포함수로 나타내어 최대지반가속도를 기준으로 도출하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 취약도 곡선은 댐의 실시간 피해예측에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Ingestion of Citrus unshiu Markovich (CUM) has been widely used as an alternative therapy for thousands years in Korean traditional medicine. Both anti-osteoclastic actions of CUM extracts (CUME) and the possibility for development as a healthy food product were investigated. CUME significantly (p<0.05) and dose-dependently diminished the receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa- B ligand (RANKL)-induced formation of tartrate resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP)-positive osteoclasts. At the molecular level, CUME interrupted osteoclastogenesis based on selective stimulation of ERK and Akt activation. CUME caused down-regulation of osteoclast-specific marker gene expression derived from impairment of c-Fos and nuclear factor of activated T cells c1 (NFATc1) activation. Treatment with CUME caused localization failure of filamentous actin (F-actin) rings during cellularization and, subsequently, mature osteoclasts suffered malfunction of osteolytic activity. CUME has potential for prevention of osteoporosis.
