This paper proposes a frequency detection method based on an advanced zero-crossing technique. Zero-crossing method for detecting frequency is one of the most widely used methods today. Although it is simple to apply, it requires extra hardware in implementation due to its limitations in accuracy. The proposed method models the error generated during zero crossing linearization and compensated for it in real time which makes it simple and accurate. The validity of the method and its applicability in anti-islanding detection of distributed generators was confirmed through simulation.

본 논문은 다계 H-브리지와 다권선 변압기를 이용하여 22.9㎸ 배전계통에 직접결합하여 전력품질을 보상하는 UPQC(Unified Power Quality Conditioner)를 제안하고 그 동작을 분석한 내용을 기술하고 있다. 제안하는 UPQC는 스위칭소자를 직결한 방식대신 H-브리지로 구성된 인버터모듈을 직결하는 방식으로 동작전압을 증가시켜 배전전압 22.9㎸에서 동작할 수 있도록 고안되어 있다. 제안하는 시스템의 기술적 타당성을 입증하기 위해 EMTDC 소프트웨어에 의한 시뮬레이션을 통한 분석을 실시하였으며 또한 하드웨어 축소모형을 제작하여 실험을 통한 분석을 실시하였다. 이러한 검증을 통하여 제안하는 UPQC는 실제규모로 용량을 확대하여 배전계통에 결합할 경우 동작이 가능할 것으로 보인다. 제안하는 UPQC는 배전전압에 따라 H-브리지 모듈의 수를 가감하여 설계의 유연성을 확보할 수 있고 직렬주입변압기가 없이 동작이 가능하여 기존 UPQC의 직렬주입변압기에 의한 제반 취약점을 제거할 수 있다.

This paper describes the development of a novel islanding detection method, which uses the signal cross-corelation scheme between the injected reactive current and the power frequency deviation. The existing method, which injects the reactive current of 2.5-5% to the rated current and detects the frequency deviation directly, brings about lowing the power quality due to the harmonic pollution. The proposed method eliminates the weak point of the existing method, because it injects the reactive current less than 1% to the rated current. The operational feasibility was verified through computer simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software, and experimental works with a 10㎸A hardware prototype. The proposed method can detect the islanding status effectively without lowing the power quality of interconnected distributed generation system.

This paper describes the development of a high-performance single-phase line-interactive Dynamic voltage Restorer, which is composed of an H-bridge inverter and super-capacitors. The operational feasibility was verified through computer simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software, and experimental works with 3㎸A prototype. The developed system can compensates the input voltage sag and interruption within 2㎳, in which the maximum allowable duration of voltage interruption is 1.5 seconds. It can be effectively used to compensate the voltage interruption in the sensitive load, such as computer, communication equipment, automation equipment, and medical equipment. The developed system has a simple structure to be easily implemented with commercially available components and to be highly reliable in operation.

This paper describes a single-phase active power filter based on a newly developed digital controller. The developed controller utilizes FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) algorithm to extract the reference signal from the load current, considering the phase-angle delay of each order of harmonics. Optimized technique was applied for whole control algorithm to implement the real-time operation of developed controller. The performance of developed controller for a single-phase active power filter was verified through computer simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC. The feasibility of hardware implementation was confirmed by building and testing a prototype. The developed digital controller for a single-phase active power filter can compensate the harmonic current generated by the power supply for digital equipment.
외란에 강인한 새로운 구조의 3상 Phase-Locked Loop

PLL(Phase-Locked Loop)은 전력품질보상과 전력조류제어용으로 사용되는 전력변환기에서 매우 중요한 요소이다. 이 논문에서는 ALC(Adaptive Linear Combiner)와 PI제어기로 구성된 새로운 3상 PLL이 제안되었다. 동작원리를 이론적으로 도출 및 분석하였고 성능평가를 위해 Matlab을 이용한 시뮬레이션과 TMS320VC33 보드를 이용하여 실험을 실시하였다. 제안하는 3상 PLL은 전압강하, 고조파, 위상각 점프, 그리고 주파수 변동과 같은 전압외란조건에서도 우수한 성능을 보인다.

The wind power is known as the most promising future energy source to obtain the electricity. Induction generator is a simple energy conversion wit in the wind power generation system but it consumes the reactive power from the interconnected power system. Switched capacitor banks are normally used to compensate the reactive power, which bring about the transient overvoltage. This paper proposes a method for compensating the reactive power with STATCOM. A detail simulation model for analyzing the interaction between the wind power system and the commercial power system was developed using EMTDC software. The developed simulation model can be effectively utilized to plan the reactive power compensation for newly designed wind power system.

PLL is a key item of power converter for power quality compensation and power flow control. This paper proposes a novel 3-phase PLL that is composed of ALC and PI controller. The operational principle was investigated through theoretical approach, and the performance was verified through computer simulations with MATLAB and experimental works with TMS320VC33 DSP board. The proposed 3-phase PLL shows accurate performance under the voltage disturbances such as sag, harmonics, phase-angle jump, and frequency change.

The performance of an active power filter(APF) depends on the inverter characteristic, the control method, and the accuracy of reference signal generator. The accuracy of reference generator is the most critical item to determine the performance of active power filter. This paper introduces a novel reference signal generator composed of improved adaptive predictive filter. The performance of proposed reference signal generator was first verified through a simulation with MATLAB. Furthermore, the application of feasibility was evaluated through experimenting with a single-phase APF prototype based on the proposed reference generator, which was implemented using the TMS320C31 floating-point signal processor. Both simulations and experimental results confirm that our reference signal generator can be used successfully in practical active power filters.
