A Liquid crystalline polymer with a triad mesogen and tetra and hexa methylene groups was synthesized. The structure of the LCP is as follow. TR4, 6 : ◁그림 삽입▷ (원문을 참조하세요) Thermal and mesophase properties were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and on a hot stage of a polarizing microscope. As a result of investigation, the LCP in the melt showed nematic behavior identified by a thread-like optical texture. Tm and Ti values were 225.3℃ and 345℃, respectively.
액정 고분자와 Poly(ethylene terephthalate) 블렌드의 결정화 거동

The blends of liquid crystalline polymers(LCP) and poly(ethyl one terephthalate)(PET) were prepared for the investigation of crystallization behaviors. The chemical structure of LCP(HBH) is as shown below. HBH: ◁그림 삽입▷ (원문을 참조하세요) Crystallization kinetics of the blends were investigated by the isothermal DSC method. The Avrami analyses were applied to obtain the information on the crystal growth geometry and factors controlling the rate of crystallization. The crystallization kinetics for the blends followed the classical Avrami equation up to a high degree of crystallization regardless of crystallization temperature. The values of Avrami exponent, n, for PET in the blends were estimate to be around 2, which indicate that the polymer crystals grow into one-dimensional linear or fiber-like crystallization mode. The crystallization rate, as expected, decreases with increasing the crystallization temperature.
유연한 곁사슬을 갖는 방향족 Poly(ether-ether-ester)의 합성 및 성질

알콕시 곁사슬을 갖는 유연한 곁사슬을 갖는 전방향족 Poly(ether-ether-ester)가 ether기로 연결된 triad diol과 2,5-dialkoxyterephthalic acid로부터 direct polycondensation에 의하여 합성되었다. 중합체의 구조와 물리적 성질은 1H-NMR, FT-IR, DSC, TGA를 이용하여 조사되었다. 연구결과에 의하면, 용매로서 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane(TCE)를 사 용하여 측정된 고분자의 고유점성도는 0.45~0.86 dl/g의 값을 나타내었으며, 질소 분위기하에서 측정된 초기열분해온 도는 378~418 ℃를 나타내었다. 중합체 대부분은 측정에 사용된 유기용매에 용해되었고, 용융전이온도(Tm)는 곁사슬 의 길이가 길수록 감소되었으며 홀수-짝수 효과를 나타내었다. A series of wholly aromatic Poly(ether-ether-ester)s with flexible side chain was synthesized by direct polycondensation from ether linkaged triad diol and 2,5-dialkoxyterephthalic acid. The chemical structures and physical properties of these polymers were investigated by using <sup>1</sup> H-NMR, FT-IR, DSC and TGA. As results of investigations, the inherent viscosities(ηinh) measured at 40 ℃ in 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane(TCE) were 0.45~0.86 dl/g and initial decomposition(Td) in TGA occurred at 378~418 ℃ in N2 gas. The majority of these polymers were soluble in organic solvents used in this experiments at elevated temperatures. Melting temperatures(Tm) decreased with increasing the length of the side chain and showed odd-even effects.
