        Nowadays the number of obesity is on the increase, resulting from excessive calorie consumption and insufficient exercise as well as from the falling of both physical fitness and all physiologic functions. In this respect, the researcher wanted to know the influence of obesity on respiro-circulatory function and the systems of nerve and muscle. Method For this study, 12 obesity group (average age:15.4 ±0.8) and 12control group (averageage:15.5 ±0.44) were chosen. Through the skinfold thickness method by subscapular and triceps, % fat was calculated to judge the degree of obesity. Respiro-circulatory function and maximum muscular strength were each measured by using treadmill and the Versatile Muscular power Measuring Device. Dynamic relative muscular endurance, whole body reaction time and sargent jump were also examined. Further, in order to know the effect of redundant fat on physical fitness, measurement was carried out with an 11kg weight attached to some of the control group. Result 1. As for % fat, the obesity group was 31.4%, the control group 15.2% and the weight-attached group 32.4%. 2. In respiro-circulatory function, absolute value of VO₂max per LBM showed a significant gap, while that value per body weight revealed the inferiority of the fat group. The obesity group was significantly high in maximum respiratory and low in maximal tidal volume. No change was noticed in other parts of the functon. 3. No difference was seen in absolute maximum muscular strength of upper arm and leg, but, in relative strength, control group were meaningfully low. A significant difference was also shown in dynamic relative muscular endurance of upper arm. 4. Obesity group were significantly inferior to others as for the whole body reaction time and sargent jump. Conclusion As for respiro-circulatory function, obesity exerts no influence on maximum ventilation, muscular strength, and absolute maximum oxygen intake perlean body mass. But the lowering of the lung function result in the reduction of tidal volume ability and the increase of respiratory rate. The obesity were inefficient in sargent jump and whole body reaction time because of their weight of excessive fat.

        Inflammasome-Dependent Peroxiredoxin 2 Secretion Induces the Classical Complement Pathway Activation

        Peroxiredoxins (Prxs) are ubiquitously expressed peroxidases that reduce hydrogen peroxide or alkyl peroxide production in cells. Prxs are released from cells in response to various stress conditions, and they function as damage-associated molecular pattern molecules. However, the secretory mechanism of Prxs and their roles have not been elucidated. Thus, we aimed to determine whether inflammasome activation is a secretory mechanism of Prxs and subsequently identify the effect of the secreted Prxs on activation of the classical complement pathway. Using J774A.1, a murine macrophage cell line, we demonstrated that NLRP3 inflammasome activation induces Prx1, Prx2, Prx5, and Prx6 secretion in a caspase-1 dependent manner. Using HEK293T cells with a transfection system, we revealed that the release of Prx1 and Prx2 relies on gasdermin-D (GSDMD)-mediated secretion. Next, we confirmed the binding of both Prx1 and Prx2 to C1q; however, only Prx2 could induce the C1q-mediated classical complement pathway activation. Collectively, our results suggest that inflammasome activation is a secretory mechanism of Prxs and that GSDMD is a mediator of their secretion. Moreover, secreted Prx1 and Prx2 bind with C1q, but only Prx2 mediates the classical complement pathway activation.

        Spontaneous Uterine Rupture in a Greyhound Bitch during Parturition

        A 6-year old, Greyhound bitch was presented with vaginal hemorrhage and dystocia. Physical examination revealedsevere vaginal hemorrhage, abdominal pain, pale mucous membranes and the presence of solid structures to abdominalpalpation. A hematological test revealed a marked hemorrhagic anemia, and abdominal radiography and ultrasonographicexamination showed two dead fetuses in the uterus. Median laparotomy revealed a rupture of the left uterine hornadjacent to the bifurcation, region of weakened uterine wall in the right uterine horn, blood clots and uterine fluids inabdominal cavity without septic peritonitis. The bitch underwent ovariohysterectomy and recovered without complication

        The purpose of study was to investigate the effect of 12wks before and after running exercise of obsese in D high school in Pusan city, exercise group(7) performed 12wks running exercise and control group(7), before and after subjects performed the maximal exercise test on treadmill's 12wks running exercise. Through the comparision and analysis of change respiro-circulatory and serum lipids the results of this study were as follows. 1. In 12wks before and after running exercise, physique and body composition of exercise group was found to have a great decrease in %Fat(6%), Fat(kg)(6%), Triceps(7%) and to have a significant in crease in %LBM(6%). 2. Respiro-circulatory Capacity of exorcise group at the maximal exercise, was found to have a great decrese in VE(5%), RR(8%), RQ(5%). 3. In 12wks before and after running exercise at rest time, in seam lipids of exercise group was found to have a great decrease in TC(8%), TG(29%), LDL-C(7%) and to have a significant in crease in HDL-C(20%), FFA(74%). 4. At rest time, the control group was found to have a little decrease in TG, HDL-C, LDL-C and to have little change in TC and FFA. 5. In 12wks before and after running exercise at the maximal exercise, in serum lipids of the exercise group was found to have significant decrease in TC(18%), TG(23%) and to have a significant in crease in HDL-C(20%), LDL-C(25%), FFA(23%) and TG and HDL-C were found to have a significant change. 6. At maximal exercise, was found to have little change in the control group.

        Unilateral Hydroureteronephrosis caused by Adhesion of the Ureter following Ovariohysterectomy in a Bitch

        A 10-year-old spayed female Yorkshire Terrier visited for a physical checkup. The bitch had a history of ovariohysterectomy for treatment of pyometra a year ago. On physical examination, the dog was bright and alert. Complete blood counts, serum biochemistry and blood gas analysis results did not show any deviations within normal ranges. Radiographic and ultrasonographic examinations revealed unilateral hydronephrosis and hydroureter of the right kidney and ureter, and obstruction of the distal ureter was observed. On the basis of these results, nephroureterectomy was performed. During the operation, the adhesion of the distal ureter and surrounding tissue cells were observed without the evidence of the ureteral ligation. The distal ureteral obstruction was presumed to be adhesion caused by fibrous tissue formation between ureter and retained broad ligament, or incompletely removed blood clots following ovariohysterectomy. This case report describes the occurrence of hydroureteronephrosis caused by adhesion of the distal ureter following ovariohysterectomy in a bitch.

        Initial Experience with Retroperitoneal Laparoendoscopic Single-Site Surgery for Upper Urinary Tract Surgery

        Purpose: To report our initial clinical experience and perioperative outcomes of retroperitoneal laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (RLESS) for upper urinary tract surgery. Materials and Methods: Between June 2009 and October 2010, we performed RLESS in 23 patients for various indications including radical nephrectomy (n=4), nephroureterectomy (n=2), simple nephrectomy (n=10), and renal cyst ablation (n=7). RLESS was performed with a homemade single-port device with a conventional rigid laparoscopic instrument and laparoscope. The parameters analyzed were age, body mass index, operative time, estimated blood loss, transfusion, time of oral intake, visual analogue pain scale score (VAPS), length of hospital stay, and complications. Results: One case of simple nephrectomy was converted to open nephrectomy because of severe adhesion and inadequate surgical exposure. RLESS was completed in 23 patients. Mean operative time was 168.7±29.2, 227.5±50.0, 230.0±56.5, and 70.5±8.9 minutes for simple nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, nephroureterectomy, and renal cyst ablation, respectively. Estimated blood loss was 113.0±149.8, 170.0±156.8, 400.0±141.4, and 22.8±16.0 ml. The time to oral intake after surgery was 1.4±0.5, 1.2±0.5, 1.5±0.7, and 1.1±0.3 days. The mean VAPS score was 1.1±0.2, 2.1±0.5, 2.0±0.5, and 1.0±0.0 of 10 (range, 0.8 to 2.6). The hospital stay was 4.6±1.5, 3.7±0.5, 6.0±1.4, and 3.2±1.7 days. No major perioperative complications were observed. Conclusions: The initial outcomes of our experience suggest that RLESS is a technically feasible and safe procedure for upper urinary tract surgery. Prospective comparative studies with conventional retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery are needed to confirm the potential benefits of RLESS.

        Treatment of Prostatic Calculus causing Urinary Retention in a Dog

        A cross breed dog (6-year-old, 6 kg, intact male) was referred with hematuria. The dog had been treated for years owing to the urinary bladder calculi. On abdominal radiography, prostatic calculus was demonstrated in the prostatic area. In addition, ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT) scan would confirm that the part of calculus protruded within the prostatic urethra. The patient underwent a prostatolithotomy and traumatic prostatic urethra was carefully sutured and the omentum was filled with the prostate lumen. A crystallographic analysis of the stone showed 80% magnesium ammonium phosphate (struvite) and 20% carbonate apatite. The leakage of the urine was not observed post-operation and the hematuria improved and there was no specific problem at the 6 months follow-up.
