전남대학교 과학영재교육원에서는 영재학생들에게 자기주도적인 발견식·탐구식 프로젝트 학습을 통하여 수학적 원리를 탐구하게 하고, 수학적 구체물을 제작하는 과정에서 수학적 창의성 계 발과 협동심 등을 배양하고, 탐구한 수학적 원리를 발표하는 과정에서 수학적 표현력, 논리력, 의사 소통 능력을 배양시키기 위한 목적으로 생활친화적이고 수학적 자아성취감 고취시킬 수 있는 주제 를 선정하여 수학영재 창의문제 해결 대회를 실시하였다. 대회에 대한 학생들의 만족도를 조사한 결 과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 참신하고 도전적인 주제일수록 학생들의 평가 점수가 높았다. 둘째, 주제의 참신성, 도전성, 흥미성, 난이도 등에 관한 여섯 가지 항목에 대한 평가에서 주제의 난이 도에 대한 평가가 가장 낮게 나타났다. 셋째, 팀워크에 대한 만족도 조사 결과 각 주제에 대한 흥미도 결과와 유사하게 나타났다. This paper aimed to introduce the camp of mathematical creative solving problem for the gifted, who studied in the Gifted Education center in Chonnam National University, and to investigate participated students' gratification. We choose life-related and inspiring mathematical subjects in order to make the gifted seek mathematical principals through self-aspiring and inquiring projects, develop mathematical creativity and team work spirit in making thorough result, and establish expressiveness, logicalness and communication skills in giving presentation on each projects. The results of this study turns out to be as follows: First, the more creative and challenging the problems are, the higher score students got. Second, in six evaluation items on creativity, challengability, interest and difficulty of the topic, the lowest item was the difficulty of the topic. Third, the result of the research in satisfaction of teamwork was relatively similar to the result of the research in interest in each topic.
A METHOD OF COMPUTATIONS OF CONGRUENT NUMBERS AND ELLIPTIC CURVES

We study the concepts of congruent number problems and elliptic curves. We research the structure of the group of elliptic curves and find out a method of the computation of L(En, 1) and L'(En, 1) by using SAGE program. In this paper, we obtain the first few congruent numbers for n ≤2500.
Cell-Free miR-27a, a Potential Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarker for Gastric Cancer

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been demonstrated to play an important role in carcinogenesis. Previous studies revealed that miRNAs are present in human plasma in a remarkably stable form that is protected from endogenous RNase activity. In this study, we measured the plasma expression levels of three miRNAs (miR-21, miR-27a, and miR-155) to investigate the usefulness of miRNAs for gastric cancer detection. We initially examined plasma miRNA expression levels in a screening cohort consisting of 15 patients with gastric cancer and 15 healthy controls from Korean population, using TaqMan quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. We observed that the expression level of miR-27a was significantly higher in patients with gastric cancer than in healthy controls, whereas the miR-21 and miR-155a expression levels were not significantly higher in the patients with gastric cancer. Therefore, we further validated the miR-27a expression level in 73 paired gastric cancer tissues and in a validation plasma cohort from 35 patients with gastric cancer and 35 healthy controls. In both the gastric cancer tissues and the validation plasma cohort, the miR-27a expression levels were significantly higher in patients with gastric cancer. Receiver-operator characteristic (ROC) analysis of the validation cohort, revealed an area under the ROC curve value of 0.70 with 75% sensitivity and 56% specificity in discriminating gastric cancer. Thus, the miR-27a expression level in plasma could be a useful biomarker for the diagnosis and/or prognosis of gastric cancer.
AN APPLICATION OF TILINGS IN THE HYPERBOLIC PLANE

We will construct several types of semi-regular tilingsof a hyperbolic unit disk model by dening geometric features ofthe denition of distance in a hyperbolic plane, area of triangle, andisometry of inversions. We researched the method of regular tilingsand semi-regular tilings of hyperbolic unit disk model and wrote ansemi-regular tiling construction algorithm using Cabri2 programand Cinderella program. Lastly, We want to make a product re-lated to traditional heritage cultural patterns using Photoshop, sowe’ll model the advertising photos of cites; Seoul, Gwangju.
Study on the cholesteric liquid crystal properties of cholesteryl-4-alkoxy benzoate

카이랄성을 갖는 액정화합물들의 경우, 일반적으로, 가격이 상당히 고가이며, 합성 및 응용 과정에서 그 카이랄성을 잃어버리는 경우가 있어 상용화되는데 많은 제약이 있다. 반면 콜레스테롤은 분자 자체가 가지는 카이랄성 때문에 주기적인 나선구조를 갖는 콜레스테릭 액정을 형성하며, 나선구조의 피치 변화에 따라 특정한 파장 영역에서의 빛만을 반사하는 선택반사특성을 나타낸다. 본 연구에서는 가격이 비교적 저렴하고, 광학적 특성을 갖는 콜레스테롤을 다양한 길이의 알콕시기를 갖는 벤조산과 반응시켜 콜레스테릭 에스터 유도체를 합성하여, 알콕시기의 길이가 액정화합물의 특성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 연구하였다.
