Vol.30 No.2

The power conversion efficiency of organic polymer solar cells was enhanced by introducing a ferroelectric polymer layer at the interface between active layer and metal electrode. The power conversion efficiency was increased by 50% through the enhancement of the open circuit voltage. To investigate the role of the ferroelectric layer on the dissociation process of the excitons, non-radiative portion of the exciton decay was directly measured by using photoacoustic technique. The results show that the ferroelectric nature of the buffer layer does not play any roles on the dissociation process of the excitons, which indicates the efficiency enhancement is not due to the ferroelectricity of the buffer layer.

Vol.0 No.61

We can discover an common characteristic in the field of cultural studies regarding depict of modern life in the East Asia. That is the omission of colonialism and the exaggeration of modernity. I suggest that the erasure of colonialism in this research should be read as a symptom. The disappearance of colonialism makes me to raise those questions: How and why is the colonialism invisible? Is the non-colonial representation and imagination related to the reality of colonialism? Does this kind of invisible representation and narrative connote the absence of colonialism? The colonial intervention in the analysis on the cultural sphere of this period can clarify the significance of sensibility and experience that is occluded in the discourse. Furthermore, it makes me to investigates the possibility of new perspective on rereading this period, recalling the colonialism to the everyday life and aesthetics from the political field. I examine how the colonialism can be in/visible through the advertisement of foreign commodity in the Ladies Journal of 1920s. The foreign commodity commercial in the Ladies Journal dose not display the superiority of civilization and empire. But it doesn't imply the coloniality in China does not exist. Rather, the coloniality and empire is becoming into the invisible reality, hence it is covertly disseminated. As a result, the cultural studies on the colonial reality narrates that coloniality looks like being absent or even being described as autonomical. In other words, recent research tendency regarding the cultural sphere in the East Asian can be interpreted as reflecting the reality of in/visible coloniality. My paper examines how this kind of coloniality is more lasting and effective than the oppressed and violent controlling through analysis on the commercial of Ladies Journal. To put it specifically, I investigate that the terms ‘technical skill’and ‘world’ frequently mentioned in the advertisements are not only the primary commodity advertising but also operate as the immanent colonial technology. First, the discussion on technical skill expands into that of “knowledge” and “hygiene”, identifying purchasing commodity into getting knowledge and being hygienic. This transformation process shows how the self-governmentality is established in the colonial reality. Second, another discourse on “world” gives the colonized sensibility of using world best commodity, erasing that of nation. Since the journal often conveys the advanced social theory, it is definitely strange that mentioning “China” in the commercials of Ladies Journals disappears. The colonized public purchases, uses and enjoys the commodity at the very site of erasure of China hence s/he is completed as a cosmopolitan irrelevant to any national sign. The colonized public is redefined as a pleasant and aesthetical subject through the commodity with uncovering the nation. In other words, the disappearance of nation is undoing the colonial reality. In this process, the colonial reality looks like being invisible in the colonial cultural sphere.

Vol.20 No.-

On reading Yu Dafu's novels, the national and the libidinal often appear as the problem which we can't easily solve. My article begins with this problematic condition. Through interpretation of Yu Dafu's early novels, I'll insist the dominant of narrative--the desire, the self, the national and the home and so on--is unevenly disseminated. This particular aspect disturbs the narrative in the articulating the core of novel and at the same time makes the narrative embody the deep meaning and influence. And this concern gives us the new horizon to reinterpretate the national in Sinking("Chenlun") which has the position determined as an example of "nationalism" narrative. In main issue, I investigate the relationship between the individual desire and the national and the texture of novel throung Sinking and Migration to the South("Nanqian"). Through this investigation, I maintain the national is not appear as the absolute concept and is the concept of newly constituting the boundary against the desire of the self, which is all flushed with tension. On the contrary, this tension gives the energy to desire: the self stirs up the national; at once it undermines the boundary of the national. In this point, the desire of the self becomes mechanism of questioning the national. Thus in undermining and negotiating each other, the desire and the national increase the tension. Sinking and Migration to the South respectively experiment on the world of the centripetal force and the centrifugal force. This novels conduct the experiment on the boundary of the national and the critical of the desire. But the narrative shows the hero does not die until he steps on the boundary and goes cross the critical point. The same consequences of two different narrative prepare the basic condition of the home-coming narrative.

Longitudinal Water Proton Relaxivities of Gd(OH)_3 Nanorods, Gd(OH)_3 Nanoparticles, and Gd_2O_3 Nanoparticles: Dependence on Particle Diameter, Composition, and Morphology

2011 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.59 No.3

Gd(OH)_3 nanorods, Gd(OH)_3 nanoparticles, and Gd_2O_3 nanoparticles were prepared and their longitudinal water proton relaxivities (r_1s) were investigated. They are important for application to a highly sensitive T_1 MRI contrast agent. The r_1s did not much depend on either composition or morphology but on particle diameter such that an optimal particle diameter (∼1.7 nm) exists for a maximal r_1 (~ 15.2 s^(-1)mM^(-1)). This is interpreted such that surface Gd(III) ions mainly contribute to the r_1.

Vol.0 No.76

This paper investigates on how Lu Xun treats mourning issue, reading writing on mourning among Lu Xun’s Zawen. Lu Xun recalls the dead of the youth, comrade and friend, writing their lives and deaths. Why and when does Lu Xun remember the deads? What message dose he recall and deliver? How does he mourn their death? What kind of signification and perspective does Lu Xun convey through writings on mourning. Recently mourning issue becomes one of the most important subject which is discussed prominently in academic circles. From Freud to Derrida and Butler, including Zizek and Agamben scholars in academic sphere diversely and keenly deploy discussion on mourning. Freud ‘discovers’ the mourning as a important issue regarding construction of self, whereas Derrida ‘relocates’ the mourning issue as lives and moral level, connecting to the other. Meanwhile Butler revisits it as the common(community) issue, extending it to the social and political problem. This kind of theoretical reinterpretation reveals the mourning issue is not only individual and psychological level but also the problematic with relation to moral and political level. Based on these theoretical development, this paper analyses representative writing on the morning among Zawen written by Lu Xun, that is “commemorating Liu Hezhen”, “Fan Ainong”, “Commemoration for the forgetting”, “Recall to Wei Suyuan’s memories”, and “Momories of Liu Bannong”. This paper clarifies Lu Xun informs the power of mourning writing written by melancholic and sorrowful subject. As for Lu Xun writing on the mourning is not indulged in passive sorrow but the practice which is opposed to the national and public commemoration(紀念) and discovers the way of alternative commemoration(記念). Lu Xun understates himself and makes the other, that is the deads, alive in overall text through new kind of commemorating writing. In this regards, mourning writing written by Lu Xun is not only writing for the other but also writing by the other, since the other speaks and acts in overall text. Mourning writing by Lu Xun shows the route of criticizing and subverting the existent order and logic with a method of memory and recording. It is new scene that sorrow and melancholy with a rage moves forward writing on mourning and makes the dead other alive in text.
