How does the Strength of Network Ties affect Film Exports?
박남규,김희연 한국경영학회 2008 經營學硏究 Vol.37 No.6
Previous studies argued that maintaining arms-length relationships or weak ties with partners improves performance while others emphasized in favor of strong ties and the roles of trust in relationships. We review the influences of both strong and weak ties, investigate the level of analysis issues in network research, and reexamine the relationships in the Korean film industry. Unlike previous studies, we propose a more refined framework at the project level. With the contingency approach, we argue that the impact of network ties depends on not only their strength but also project characteristics. We propose that strong ties positively affect projects with standard characteristics but negatively influence creative projects in the setting of the film exports. We measured the performance of exported films by two indexes, artistic and commercial success. Our tests show that strong tie networks improve the commercial performance of films (standardized project), while hamper the artistic performance (creative task). We discuss the implications for future research on the strength of network ties and the film industry.
A Historical Perspective on Koreans’ English Language Anxiety Seen through Korea-US Relations
박남규 한국세계문화사학회 2017 세계 역사와 문화 연구 Vol.0 No.45
This paper attempts to explain Koreans’ excessive English language anxiety through the examination of the historical peculiarities of the Korea-US relations. As the fate of Korea has been controlled by the hands of the United States several times in the time lines of Korean history, the relationship between the two countries has become a kind of the dominant/the subordinate or the strong/the weak, and it is presumed that the US has become a kind of fear or an object of reverence in the subconscious of Koreans. It is assumed that Koreans’ excessive English language anxiety is attributed to this peculiar and unusual historical relationship. In order to escape from this abnormal situation, Koreans need to be psychologically armed in the first place, trying to put themselves in the same line with native speakers, which is believed to be possible through the development and application of a higher-order thinking system. The psychological armament education of Korean English learners is as important as the English content education, so it is necessary to devote a certain amount of class time to the psychological armament education.(Konyang University)

This paper suggests the direction of implementing One-Stop Service for solving many problems in Korean port industry. The major contents of this paper are the analysis of current data flow among firms in the port industry and abstract the core function for One-Stop Service. Recently the introduction of Electronic Data Interchange(EDI) technologies into both trading and trade facilitation activities has begun to change the method of document interchange within international transport network. Korea has been aware of the need to embrace EDI strategies in order to maintain a competitive market position with its international trading partners. Since EDI in transport section has been introduced by trading partners via KL-Net from 1994, many partners complained the EDI system, which is cost absorbtion, slow and inconvenience. Specially as the KL-Net and KT-net have been operated independently, and that there is not the central database in KL-Net, users carry the burden of message communication. Therefore, this paper is to propose the conceptual EDI system integration of KL-Net and KT-Net.
Critical Factors for Container Terminal Productivity
박남규,김주영 한국항해항만학회 2009 한국항해항만학회지 Vol.33 No.2
The awareness of the high-value industry for container terminal leads competitiveness of container terminals to keep high fiercely. In regards to competitive factors of container terminal, the most important point among several factors is seemed to be the speed of container loading and unloading on quayside. In container terminals in Korea, the productivity shows big difference even though its condition is similar to each terminal. The objective of this paper is to find the critical factors of container terminal productivity, which is dependant upon the capability, quantity of quay crane, transfer vehicle, and so on. For this purpose, we have researched related literatures, and collected data about container terminals in South Korea. Furthermore, we tested sensitive analysis to evaluate the extent of productivity by changing independent variable. And then we established the regression model to evaluate which factor has had the biggest impact on productivity. The results of this paper can give terminal operators guideline to improve productivity.
Port Capacity Evaluation Formula for General Cargo
박남규,윤대근,Sang-kook PARK 한국해운물류학회 2014 The Asian journal of shipping and Logistics Vol.30 No.2
The objective of this research is to study the evaluation method of berth capacity for general cargo in port. Specially, this study discussed the evaluation formula for general cargo berth capacity. It described the traditional evaluation method and new evaluation method with a sample case using real data of the general cargo berth. The results of the study revealed some problems for traditional evaluation method of general cargo handling capacity. Traditional calculation method does not reflect real situation for the general cargo berth capacity. Also, it does not reflect individual circumstances in terms of input parameter like berth occupancy rate, an annual working day and daily working hour. Finally, this study recommended the applicable and effective formula to reflect real situation on ports which can give direction for developing evaluation of formula for general cargo port capacity.
지식기반형 전문가시스템을 이용한 CIM 데이타베이스의 통합
박남규,김기동,박진우 한국경영과학회 1994 經營 科學 Vol.11 No.2
One of the major issues in the implementation and maintenance of CIM databases is the sharing and exchange of information among the heterogeneous databases. This paper addresses some architectural aspects for integrating the heterogeneous multi-databases using knowledge-based expert systems. We propose a loosely integrated coupling system between databases and knowledge-based expert systems. Especially we suggest the architectural aspects of such a coupling methodology. We also present the structure and knowledge representation scheme for the proposed knowledge-based expert system. A prototype example is included to illustrate the framework and its mechanism for implementation.
