        Alleviation of Ultraviolet B-Induced Photoaging by 7-MEGATM 500 in Hairless Mouse Skin

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 7-MEGATM 500 on the improvement of skin aging in an UVB-induced photo-aging model of hairless mice. The dorsal skin of hairless mice was exposed to UVB three times a week for 12 weeks to induce skin wrinkle. After inducing the wrinkle, 7-MEGATM 500 was orally administered once a day for 4 weeks. Skin thickness, skin barrier function, and wrinkle indicators were improved by treatment with 7-MEGATM 500. Both gene and protein expression levels of MMP-3 and c-Jun in skin were significantly decreased by 7-MEGATM 500. Therefore, the intake of 7-MEGATM 500 is thought to have a positive effect on the improvement of skin aging, although further studies are needed.

        Franz Diffusion Cell을 이용한 문신용 염료 내 유해물질의 피부 투과특성 연구

        Objectives: The purpose of this study is to determine the exposure risk to tattoo components by analyzing skinabsorption using the in vitro method. Tattoos are commonly used for cosmetic purposes, and the skin of not onlythe operator but of the people who are undergoing the cosmetic procedure is continuously exposed to hazardouschemicals. Methods: Skin permeation risk determination was conducted by the in vitro Franz diffusion cell methodaccording to the ingredient types of tattoo dyes, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), non-volatileorganic compounds and heavy metals, using hairless mouse full skin and human cadaver epidermis. Results: The major components with good skin penetration for each type of tattoo dye ingredient were clarified. Among the tatto dye ingredients, 1,2-Dichlorobenzene, Zn, Al, Pb and Ti showed good skin penetration. Mostof the skin transmission rates were higher in hairless mouse full skin than in human cadaver epidermis. Conclusion: A possible exposure risk to hazardous substances in tattoo dyes was confirmed from this study. These results are expected to provide a positive contribution to the establishment of management regulations fortattoo dyes.

        Permeation characteristics of thermal paper ingredients using Franz diffusion cell

        The purpose of this study is to examine the exposure risk of thermal paper ingredients by analyzing skin permeation using an in vitro Franz cell. Thermal printer papers are usually used for receipt papers, and the skin of shop assistant is continuously exposed to hazardous ingredients of thermal papers. The skin permeation risk of thermal paper ingredients, including bisphenol A and toluene, was determined using an in vitro Franz diffusion cell method using hairless mouse full skin and human cadaver epidermis. Bisphenol A, a major component in each thermal paper, showed moderate skin penetration. Most skin absorption rates were similar in both hairless mouse full skin and human cadaver epidermis. The possible risk of exposure to toxic substances in thermal paper was confirmed from this study. These is results are expected to contribute to establishment of management regulations for thermal papers.

        햄스터 볼주머니를 이용한 구강점막 자극평가 조건설정

        Objectives: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the optimum conditions for oral mucosal irritation testing using the buccal pouch of hamsters. Methods: Test materials were applied to the buccal pouch of seven-week old male Syrian hamsters (SLC, Japan) four times at one-hour intervals and macroscopic changes were examined at 24 hours after final treatment. After sacrifice, the buccal pouches were removed and prepared for histopathological evaluation. In order to set the exposure time, we performed exposure tests of 5, 12, 18 and 23 minutes using sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) 1% and set the treatment volume from the test results at 2, 3, or 4 ml treatment using SLS 1%, Triton X-100 1% and ethanol. After setting the experimental conditions, seven groups of materials [sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) (1%), Triton X-100 (1%), hydrogen peroxide (3%), ethanol (100%), chlorhexidine (0.2%, 2%), phosphate buffer saline (PBS)] were assessed. Results: Experimental conditions of material exposure time were fixed as 18 minutes from the exposure tests of 5, 12, 18 or 23 min using sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) 1%. Treated volume was set as 4 ml per each pouch from the test results of 2, 3, or 4 ml treatments using SLS 1%, Triton X-100 1% and ethanol. The results in terms of irritation degree were in the order of sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) (1%) > Triton X-100 (1%) ${\fallingdotseq}$ hydrogen peroxide (3%) > ethanol (100%) ${\fallingdotseq}$ chlorhexidine (0.2%, 2%) > phosphate buffer saline (PBS). Conclusion: From this study, suitable conditions for hamster mucosal irritation testing were suggested and this method was verified through materials commonly used on oral mucosal membranes.

        Safety evaluation of Moringa oleifera Ethanol Extract as a Cosmeceutical Material

        As the quality of life has recently increased by the improvement of the standard of living, the desire for beautiful appearance has increased and it brings a huge growth of cosmetic industry. As this result, an interest of consumers about cosmetics which had proven efficacy and safety of the skin has been increased. The objective of this study was to determine the bioactive characteristics of Moringa oleifera ethanol extracts (MOEE) as a cosmeceutical material. To estimate the antioxidant activity of MOEE, the antioxidant activity of MOEE were tested with ABTS+ radical scavenging activity. And the safety of MOEE as a functional cosmetic material were confirmed and its suitability as a cosmetic material was evaluated. The antioxidant activity of MOEE, as determined by ABTS+ radical scavenging activity was confirmed to be slightly weaker than ascorbic acid used as a positive control but MOEE has a significant antioxidant activity. MOEE was judged to be a non-irritant substance in the evaluation of skin irritation using Labcyte EPI-MODEL24 and in the evaluation of ocular mucous membrane irritation using BCOP assay. In conclusion, MOEE has antioxidant activity and it is safe in any circumstance. It is considered that this study provided a practicability of basic data as a functional cosmetic material of MOEE.

        안자극 평가의 대체시험법인 인공각막모델(SkinEthic<sup>TM</sup>, HCE)의 국내 확립 연구

        The objective of this study is to investigate the utility of reconstructed human corneal epithelium model(SkinEthic<sup>TM</sup>, HCE) as an alternative method to eye irritation test. We confirmed the pre-check test method for eye irritation test through condition setting of production for freeze-killed epidermis, possible direct MTT reduction with test substances, and colorant properties in test chemicals. And, we conducted eye irritation test using 8 chemicals listed in the proficiency test of the OECD test guideline 492. Summarizing the results above of assessment, it was confirmed that the SkinEthicTM HCE proves that it is so efficient and trustworthy enough to replace the eye irritation test. Taken together, the results indicated that the SkinEthic<sup>TM</sup> HCE proposed by OECD test guideline 492 is expected to become a well-established method in Korea.

        발아배지 성분에 따른 발아현미 추출물의 생리활성연구

        This study was supposed to determine the bioactive effects of germinated brown rice extract with high contents of γ-aminobutyric acid(GABA). The optimized germination medium containing black garlic, black beans, blueberry fruit, inonotus obliquus mushroom, black ginseng, was confirmed by measuring the GABA content of germinated brown rice according to the change of germination medium condition. To estimate the antioxidant activity, electron-donating ability, ABTS<sup>+</sup> radical scavenging activity and superoxide dismutase(SOD)-like activity were conducted. DOPA oxidase inhibitory efficacy was evaluated for whitening effect, and BCOP assay was used for safety evaluation. Germinated brown rice in normal medium condition increased GABA content by 2.6 times, and other medium conditions with active ingredients increased GABA contents by 4 or more times, compared to the pre-germinated brown rice. Germinated brown rice in all of the medium conditions with active ingredients showed good antioxidation activity, and DOPA oxidation inhibitory effect, especially in medium with blueberry fruit and black ginseng. The safety was also confirmed in BCOP assay. The results of this study expected to be the basic data for the research of germinated brown rice, and provided a practicability as a functional cosmetic material.

      • SVM을 이용한 온라인게임 비속어 필터링 시스템

        최근 온라인 게임 산업이 커짐에 따라 이를 즐기는 유저도 급증하고 있다. 온라인 게임에서는 일반적으로 유저들이 서로를 구분하기 위해 사용하는 사용자 이름과 상호간 의사소통을 하기 위한 채팅을 지원한다. 유저의 수가 증가함에 따라 대화의 양은 더욱 더 많아지고, 선정성, 폭력성을 띄는 언어의 문제로 이어지고 있다. 이는 특히 18세 이하도 이용가능한 게임을 만드는 경우 더욱 중요하다. 하지만 대부분의 게임들이 금지어 리스트에 따른 단어 매칭방식의 비속어 필터링만을 제공하고 있다. 이러한 방법은 금지어로 지정된 단어를 포함한 정상적인 채팅도 막을 뿐만 아니라 일부 음절을 다른 기호로 바꾸어 표기한 비속어는 걸러내지 못한다. 변형된 단어들을 충분히 처리하지 못한다면 비속어 필터링 시스템은 단지 무력하고 쓸모없는 존재가 될 뿐이다. 본 논문에서는 SVM을 이용하여 학습이 가능한 비속어 필터링 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. SVM을 이용하면 사용자 편의성을 해치지 않고서도 보다 많은 종류의 비속어들을 효과적으로 걸러낼 수 있다.
