As the use of radiowaves becomes widespread, the radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology finds applications in production, management, logistics and marketing of ammunition. Accordingly, the safety of the electric detonator becomes an important issue. In this paper, we measure and model the electric field intensity from a 910㎒ RFID reader for various distances from the reader. From the result, we analyze the safety of the electric detonator. From test resutls, we find that an externally exposed electric detonator will be safe if it is separated from a 910㎒ 0.5W portable RFID reader by at least 160㎝.
