한국 정치문화 현상에 대한 연구를 보다 심도 있게 진행하기 위해서는 한국의 전통사상과 문화의 특수성에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 하지 않으면 그 목표를 달성하기 어렵다고 하겠다. 특히 전통의 힘이 강력하게 작용하는 경우에는 더욱 그러할 것이다. 이러한 측면을 유념하면서 본 연구는 조선왕조실록에 기록된 정치설화에 관한 이야기를 분석해봄으로써 조선조 정치사를 보다 심층적으로 이해해 보고자 시도하였다. 군주 관련 정치 설화에 관한 『조선왕조실록』의 각종 기록은 무엇보다 먼저 군주와 왕실에 의한 정치적 지배를 정당화하는 기능을 수행했다고 할 수 있다. 천명에 의해 개창된 조선 왕실이 백성들의 복종과 지지 속에서 계속 존재하기 위해서는 천(天)과의 연계성을 계속 확보할 필요가 있었고, 이에 따라 왕실에서 군주의 탄생과 등극을 예고해 주는 신이한 정조와 꿈들이 왕조 내내 계속해서 이어졌다. 문맥적 상황으로 볼 때, 하늘(天), 해(日), 꿈, 상서(祥瑞), 신이(神異) 등을 바탕으로 하는 군주 관련 정치설화의 현세지향은 건국의 신성화와 왕통의 정통성을 목적한 것이라고 할 수 있다. 그리고 군주 관련 정치설화는 단순히 권력의 정당화 과정만을 의미하는 것이 아니라, 천명의 대행자로서 군주를 신성화시킴으로써 국가통합의 상징으로 만들고자 했다. 이와 같이 조선조 정치과정에서 군주 관련 정치설화가 담고 있는 정치적 의미를 분석하는 작업은 군주와 왕실, 그리고 지배층의 정치의식과 통치론을 이해하는 데 하나의 방법론이 될 수 있을 것이다. This study aimed to analyze the influence of political tales in political process of the Chosun Dynasty and its political significance. Kings in the Chosun Dynasty were supreme power men. And the Korean tale of ancient times in general describes lives of kings: their birth, growth, marriage, succession to the throne, and death. In other words, it is a biographical description of the mysterious experiences of kings. Especially part in which they get divinity from their birth is common to all. Such a way of description resulted from the idea that the founder of nation should look divine. Korean people believed kings were the existence of divine nature. In this sense we can see that political tales were closely associated with political process.

조선 초기 ‘법조’ 정치원리의 정립

This study aimed to analyze political wisdom of the Chosŏn Dynasty from viewpoint of ‘making a model of forefathers'. And, as for main data for this study, Chosŏn Wangjosillok(Annals of the Chosŏn Dynasty) and Gukjobogam(Precious Mirror for Succeeding Reigns) were used. Gukjobogam was a work that drew examples from the Annals of words of guidance and acts of good government by earlier monarchs for the edification of later ages. In the political system of dynasty, all of the politic, economic, social and cultural problem could be settled by king and ruling class's diagnosis, treatment and order. It is, therefore, a very important subject that, for solving the problem at dynasty system, what kind of political principle was established and what was the limit of that. And legitimacy of the dynasty fairly depends on ‘making a model of forefathers' in political process and policy-making process. Kings and their ancestors laid emphasis on ‘making a model of forefathers', which was inherited-wisdom from forefathers. In the period of Chosŏn Dynasty ‘making a model of forefathers' enabled kings' and ruling class's political leadership to make stronger. Kings and their ancestors had put emphasis on morality. By means of ‘making a model of forefathers' kings could consolidate the dynasty and stabilize the politics.

이이와 조선 왕실의 군주 ‘제가(齊家)’론

The Purpose of this study is to analyze the regulation of royal family in Choseon Dynasty from the viewpoint of Lee Yi. And, as for main data for this study, WangJoSiLok and SeungHakJibYo, which is Lee Yi's private literature, were used. As for national system of dynasty, Royal House is a very important political group. It is, threfore, very important subject that Royal House should be manage successfully by kings. And kings had respect for royal family's rules, which was inherited-tradition in royal family. In the period of Choseon Dynasty, royal family's rules enabled kings' leadership to reinforce. Therefore Lee Yi stressed that kings could make successful efforts to maintain the dynasty by the regulation of royal family.

Focusing on the relationship between the royal family's rules and ruling class's moral law, this study aimed to analyze leadership of kings and ruling class from viewpoint of royal family's rules in Choseon Dynasty. And, as for main data for this study, WangJoSilLok and HongJaeJeonSeo, which is Jungjo's private literature, were used. As for national system of dynasty, all of the politics, economics, society and culture could be realized by king's diagnosis, treatment and order. It is, therefore, a very important subject that, for solving the problem at that time, what kind of governing leadership was used and what was the limit of that. Kings and ruling class had respect for royal family's rules, which was inherited-tradition in royal family. In the period of Choseon Dynasty, royal family's rules enabled kings' and ruling class's leadership to reinforce. Royal family's rules had put emphasis on morality. By means of royal family's rules kings and ruling class could strengthen the dynasty and stabilize the politics. That is to say, kings and ruling class could make successful efforts to maintain the dynasty through royal family's rules.

중종대(中宗代) "법조(法祖)"의 정치원리와 조광조의 경장론

이 연구는 `法祖`라는 개념으로부터 조선 중종대의 정치적 상황을 조광조의 경장론과의 상관관계 속에서 분석하는데 그 목적이 있다. `법조`라는 용어는 기존 학계에서 잘 사용되지 않았던 개념이지만, 필자는 `조상의 아름다운 뜻과 행적을 법삼아 본받아야 한다`는 의미로 조선인들의 정치생활과 일상생활에 심대한 영향을 미친 개념으로 파악하였다. `법조`라는 용어 속에는 오랜 세월에 걸쳐 축적되고, 전승된 조상들의 지혜에 대한 후손들의 존경심과 신뢰심이 내포되어 있다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 후손들이 조상들의 복록을 물려받기 위해서는 옛일을 거울로 삼아 조상들의 지혜와 말씀, 행적 등을 현실의 삶 속에서 깊이 성찰하고 실천해야만 했다. `조상의 행적을 본받음` 곧 `法祖`의 관념은 전통사회의 인간행위를 규율하는 중요한 원칙의 하나였다. 그리고 이러한 `법조`의 관념이 가장 전형적으로 나타난 곳이 바로 정치 분야였다. 성현이었던 선왕들의 각종 정치적 결정이나 정치적 행위, 정책, 선례, 법과 제도 등은 후왕들의 정치적 결정이나 정치적 행위, 정책 등의 기준이나 지침서의 역할을 하게 되었다. 그리고 그 내용이나 절차 등이 오랜 세월에 걸쳐 `가치`와 `안정성`을 획득 할 경우 하나의 관습법 수준에 이르게 되는 것으로 판단된다. 이러한 측면을 고려해 볼 때 조선 중종대에 이르러 조광조의 경장 주장과 `법조`의 정치원리 사이에는 상당한 갈등과 대립의 양상이 보였으며, 특히 임금인 중종이 `법조`의 원리를 너무 고식적으로 적용함으로써 경장, 곧 제도의 개폐 문제에 소극적으로 임하게 되었고, 종국에는 기묘사화를 통해 조광조를 비롯한 신진사대부들이 정계에서 축출되는 정치적 혼란을 초래하게 되었다. The disorganization of Sokyokseo(소격서), the enforcement of Hyunranggwa(현량과), the innovation of political elite recruit, and the revision of Chongkukgongsin(정국공신) Jo Kwang-jo tried to make neo-confucian reformation projects in the viewpoint of political idealism. But Joongjong laid emphasis on `making a model of forefathers`. Which was inherited-wisdom from forefathers. Joongjong thought that `making a model of forefathers` enabled king` and ruling class`s political leadership to make stronger. Joongjong had put emphasis on stability. In the name of `making a model of forefathers` Joongjong opposed Jo Kwang-jo`s reformation conception at last.

조선조 왕실가훈과 국정운영의 상관관계에 관한 소고

이 연구는 ‘祖訓(후세를 위해 조상들이 남긴 가르침)’이라는 개념으로부터 조선왕조의 정치적 지혜를 분석하는데 그 목적이 있다. 그리고 특히 조선왕가의 가훈(家訓)에 주목하였다. 조선왕가의 가훈에는 역대의 군주들이 후대의 군주들을 위해 남겨 놓은 통치상의 지혜가 농축되어 있었다. 오랜 세월에 걸쳐 정립 · 축적 · 전수된 왕가의 가훈은 왕가의 ‘제가’ 문제에만 국한된 것은 아니었고, 일종의 국정운영지침으로서도 기능하였다. 조선왕가의 군주들에게는 옛일을 거울로 삼아 선대 군주들의 지혜와 말씀, 행적등을 현실의 삶과 통치과정 속에서 깊이 성찰하고 실천해야만 하는 의무가 부과되어 있었다. ‘후세를 위해 조상들이 남긴 가르침(祖訓)’과 ‘조상의 행적을 법삼아 본받음(法祖)’ 이라는 불가분의 관계에 있는 두 관념은 전통사회의 인간행위를 규율하는 중요한 원칙의 하나였다. 그리고 이러한 관념이 가장 전형적으로 집약되어 있는 것이 바로 ‘家訓’이었다. 왕가의 ‘가훈’에는 군주의 수신론, 왕실의 제가론, 그리고 국가의 통치론에 이르기까지 역대 군주들의 각종 결정과 행위 등이 집약되어 있었으므로, 이것은 후대 군주들의 각종 결정과 행위 등에 있어서 가장 중요한 표준으로서의 역할을 하게 되었다. 그리고 그 결정의 내용이 오랜 세월에 걸쳐 ‘가치’와 ‘안정성’을 획득할 경우 하나의 관습법 수준에 이르게 되었던 것으로 판단된다. 이러한 측면을 고려하면서 본고에서는 조선조의 역대 군주들이 남긴 ‘가훈’의 내용을 분석해 보고, 또 그것이 국정운영과의 상관관계에 있어서 가진 의미에 대해 고찰해보고자 하였다. 조선 건국과 이성계 설화의 정치적 함의

조선정치사에 대한 연구를 보다 면밀히 진행하기 위해서는 조선의 전통사상과 그 문화의 특수성에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 해야 할 것이다. 전통의 힘이 강력하게 작용했던 왕조시대의 정치를 분석하는 작업은 특히 그러할 것이다. 이와 같은 측면을 유념하면서 본 연구는 조선의 건국과 그 건국주인 이성계에 관한 설화를 현대정치학의 상징조작이라는 개념과 유기적으로 관련시켜 분석해봄으로써 건국기에 있어서 조선의 정치사와 조선인의 정치의식을 보다 심층적으로 이해해 보고자 시도하였다. 무엇보다 먼저 조선의 건국과 이성계 설화에 관한 문헌 기록, 특히 『조선왕조실록』의 각종 기록은 무엇보다 먼저 이성계에 의한 새로운 왕조개창의 천명성을 강조하였고, 또 그렇게 함으로써 이성계와 그 추종세력에 의한 정치적 지배를 정당화하는 기능을 충실히 수행하였다. 곧 조선 왕실의 개창은 천명에 의한 것이었음을 강조하였는데, 일반 백성들의 복종과 지지 속에서 새로운 왕실이 성립하고, 존재하기 위해서는 천(天)과의 연계성을 확보하는 것은 필수불가결하였던 것이다. 이에 따라 이성계에 관한 설화에는 새로운 군주의 탄생과 등극을 예고해 주는 신이한 징조와 꿈들이 문헌 속에서 계속해서 나타났던 것이다. 문맥적 상황으로 볼 때, 하늘(天), 용, 꿈, 상서(祥瑞), 신이(神異) 등을 바탕으로 하는 이성계 설화 설화의 현세지향은 건국의 신성화와 왕통의 정통성을 목적한 것이라고 할 수 있다. 그리고 군주 꿈’ 설화는 단순히 권력의 정당화 과정만을 의미하는 것이 아니라, 천명의 대행자로서 군주를 신성화시킴으로써 국가통합의 상징으로 만들고자 했다. 다른 한 편 일반민중들 사이에 구비전승된 이성계 설화에는 그에 대한 비판적 내용이 다수 등장하고 있다. 명태조 주원장에 비해 용렬한 인간으로 묘사되는 이성계의 모습, 최대의 정적이었던 최영 장군이 일반백성들 사이에 무속신앙화되었던 점, 그리고 민중영웅인 우뚜리의 등장과 제거 등에 관한 설화의 성립 등에서 이성계에 대한 반대자와 비판자들의 정치심리가 뚜렷이 나타나 있었다. 이와 같이 조선의 건국과정에서 이성계 설화가 담고 있는 정치적 의미를 분석하는 작업은 당대의 정치사와 당대인들의 정치의식을 이해하는데 하나의 방법론이 될 수 있을 것이다. This paper aimed to analyze the influence of tales in political process of Choseon Dynasty and its political significance. The founder of Choseon Dynasty, Yi Seong-gye was supreme power men. And the Korean tale of ancient times in general described lives of kings : their birth, growth, marriage, and death. In other words, it was a biographical description of the mysterious experiences of kings. Especially part in which they get divinity from their birth was common to all. Such a way of description resulted from the idea that the founder of nation should look divine. So Heaven planned to place a person as a founder of nation. Yi Seong-gye was selected by Heaven, too. Korean people believed Yi was the existence of divine nature. And it offered political legitimacy to Yi. In this sense we can guess that Korean tale of political man was closely associated with political process.
