The flow cytometric DNA analysis and the Ag-NORs staining method have been reported to reflect the cellular activities and the proliferative activities of normal and neoplastic cells. These methods have been known to be useful for the diagnosis and for detecting the recurrence after therapy in various tumors. To evaluate the proliferating activity in various grades of transitional cell carcinomas, the author attempted the flow cytometric DNA analysis for the cellular activities, Ag-NORs stain analysis on 40 cases of paraffin embedded tissues (28 cases of Ash grade Ⅱ /Ⅳ, 8 cases of Ⅲ/Ⅳ and 4 cases of Ⅳ/Ⅳ). The results were summarized as follows : 1. It was possible to obtain the cytometric analysis results in only 34 cases among total 40 cases in this experiment: Ash grade Ⅱ/Ⅳ were 24 cases, Ash grade Ⅲ/Ⅳ 7 cases, Ash grade Ⅳ/Ⅳ 3 cases. 2. The mean numbers of Ag-NORs per cell in all grades of transitional cell carcinoma were more than 3. The difference between mean numbers of Ag-NORs and each Ash grade was not statistically significant. However, there was significant difference between law grade (Ash grade Ⅱ/Ⅳ) and high grades(Ash grades Ⅲ/Ⅳ and Ⅳ/Ⅳ) of transitional cell carcinoks(P<0.05). 3. In flow cytometric study, 6 cases were diploidy and the others were aneuploidy. The diploid cases were of Ash grade Ⅱ/Ⅳ. 4. The values of GO+Gl phase, S phase, G2+M phase and proliferation index were significantly different between diploid group and aneuploid group(P<O.05). 5. In low grade carcinomas, the values of GO+Gl phase, G2+M phase and DNA index were significantly different from those of high grade carcinomas( P<0.05). 6. There were significant differences between the degree of invasiveness to the muscle layer in Ash grades and DNA index in flow cytometric analysis(P<0.05). On the basis of the above results, it is suggested that the flow cytometric DNA analysis and Ag-NORs stain technique may be helpful in predicting the prognosis and therapeutic response of the transitional cell carcinomas. However, between flow cytometric analysis and Ag-NORs stain, the direct relationship is still uncertain.

Sequential ultrasonography was performed in 22 cases of intrahepatic hematomas diagnosed by operation laboratory data and clinical manifestation. We analyzed the shape location size of hematoma and change in size and echogenicity by age of hematoma. The results were as follows: 1. The most common shape of intrahepatic hematoma was round. 2, The most common site of intrahepatic hematoma was the posterior segment of the right lobe completely absorbed form 2nd week to 4th week. 4. Echogenecities of intrahepatic hematoma in immdiate ultrasonography after injury showed mainly echogenic or mixed form and then the echogenecities were decreased and nearly or cpmpletely not seen from 2nd week to 4th week.
