        The Rice FON1 Gene Controls Vegetative and Reproductive De-velopment by Regulating Shoot Apical Meristem Size

        Most plant organs develop from meristems. Rice FON1, which is an ortholog of Clv1, regulates stem cell proliferation and organ initiation. The point mutations, fon1-1 and fon1-2, disrupt meristem balance, resulting in alteration of floral organ numbers and the architecture of primary rachis branches. In this study, we identified two knockout alleles, fon1-3 and fon1-4, generated by T-DNA and Tos17 insertion, respectively. Unlike the previously isolated point mutants, the null mutants have alterations not only of the reproductive organs but also of vegetative tissues, producing fewer tillers and secondary rachis branches. The mutant plants are semi-dwarfs due to delayed leaf emergence, and leaf senescence is delayed. SEM analysis showed that the shoot apical meristems of fon1-3 mutants are enlarged. These results indicate that FON1 controls vegetative as well as reproductive development by regulating meristem size.

        Theory and Practice on One of a Kind Furniture in Postmodernism

        This study explored contemporary furniture theory and practice in Postmodernism mentioned as one of a kind furniture based on ideas from the tradition since Modernism. Qualitative conceptual analysis as the principal methodology was used to explore the postmodern furniture adopting or reflecting ornament from the tradition presented as postmodern furniture designers point of view differently and variously. Thus, the examples about one of a kind or one-off furniture were dealt with Postmodern ideas appeared in the doubt over Modernism, Post-Modern furniture ideas from the traditional and Modern architecture, ornamentalism, Postmodern theorists, Postmodern furniture and the criteria. As a result, although one of a kind furniture design appealed newly from and based on the ornament of the tradition has been identified as new design like one of a kind furniture which shows lack of function, the piece with the meaningful ornament makes people happier in their daily life. Hence, one of a kind furniture, a work of art, has been required as striking a balance both function or comfort and aesthetics or beauty which makes the people more enjoyable.

        Critical Discourse of Postmodern Aesthetics in Contemporary Furniture (III) - Consideration of the Ecology of Our Environment in New Design Furniture in terms of the Postmodern Aesthetics of Communication

        이 논문은 우리 환경의 생태계 보호를 위하여 뉴 디자인 가구가 어떻게 창조되고 있는지를 연구하였다. 즉, 오늘날 포스트 모던 시대에 뉴 디자인 가구 디자이너들이 환경 문제의 해결점의 하나로 새롭고 다른 방향으로 자신들의 가구를 창조할 수 있는가에 관한 담론이다. 우리가 안고 있는 생태계 보호를 위한 가구를 디자인할 때 필요한 재사용 및 재활용이 가능한 재료들, 유행을 초월한 가구, 가구의 견고성, 대량 생산 가구 등이 심각하게 분석되었다. 이 분석에 따르면 뉴 디자인 가구 디자이너들은 재활용된 재료들, 주거 환경 및 지속성, 새로운 가구 미학을 내포한 새로운 가구 디자인 철학을 얻을 수 있었다. 대량 생산된 가구는 경제성 때문에 많은 대중에게 접근되는 좋은 점보다는 우리에게 더 많은 쓰레기 더미를 준다라는 사실이 뉴 디자인 가구 다자이너들에게는 매우 심각한 문제였다. 따라서 가구 디자이너들이 양보다는 질에 중점을 둔 가구를 창조하는 것이 필요하다는 것이다. 결론적으로 환경적 책임을 느낀 뉴 디자인 가구 디자이너들은 튼튼하면서 재활용될 수 있으며 유행을 초월한 기능적이면서도 미적인 가구를 창조할 때만이 뉴 디자인 가구론 구입하는 소비자들이 뉴 디자인 가구를 올바른 방향에서 인식할 수 있을 것이다.

        On-line 판매 및 배송용 분화류를 위한 지류 포장 상자의 표준화 연구

        본 연구에서는 최근 급증하고 있는 on-line 판매 및 배송용 분화류를 위한 지류 포장상자의 개발 및 표준화를 시도하였다. 관상용인 란(호접란, 풍란, 심비디움 등), 허브, 선인장 등과 같은 분화류는 해마다 급속도로 판매가 증가하고 있는 실정이지만, 이들의 운송 혹은 배송을 위한 전용 포장 상자가 부재하였다. 따라서 on-line 판매 및 배송용 분화류를 위한 전용 지류 포장 상자를 설계 및 제작하여 포장된 분화류의 고급 브랜드화, 운송 중의 안전성, 운반의 편리성을 도모하였다. 또한 개발된 포장 상자의 허용 하중, 내부 지지대의 적정 설계, 분화류의 다양한 크기에 맞는 포장 상자의 치수 등을 고려하여 표준화 시안을 마련하였다. This paper was a study on standardization and development of paper boxes for packaging flowerpots for on-line sale and delivery. The boxes for packaging flowerpots have hardly been developed so that a standardization for the boxes was required for better packaging than before. Specifically, sales of orchids, herbs, cactus and so on have rapidly growing up every year. As a result, the development of a new design in addition to the standardization of the paper boxes for packaging flowerpots in various sizes were made based on consideration including high class design, safety and convenience during transfer or delivery, the maximum load of flowerpots, design of interior pedestal, and various dimensions for different sizes of flowerpots.

        가구재로써 노령 밤나무재의 효율적 이용에 관한 연구

        This study explored the development of wood furniture made of aged Castanea crenata Sieb. et Zucc, which has been largely planted in the southern area since 1960s and has hardly been used as furniture materials. First, the physical properties of the chestnut wood including specific gravity, stiffness, and shrinkage were compared with Zelkova serrata, Acer palmatum Thunb., Fagus crenata var. multinevis, Quercus, Tagayasan, Prunus serrulata var. spontanea, Juglans sinenis, Pteronrpus santalinus, Diospyros ebenum, and Fraxinus rhynchophylla, which have largely been used in manufacturing furniture. The chestnut wood had appropliate physical properties for wood furniture like other furniture woods. A piece of small table 50 cm in width, 50 cm in length and 60 cm in height by the chestnut tree was created for a current interior space. Since the diameter of the chestnut tree planted since 1960s is below around 30 cm, the top plate of the table had to be put together by an end-joint technique using a small strip. Finally, it is expected that this study will create a greate motivation for furniture designers, furniture studios and furniture companies in Korea to use the woods from the aged chestnut tree in developing furniture in the future.

        환경 친화적 관점에 기초한 현대 가구의 Minimalism적 고찰

        This study was carried out to develop colored-wood furniture using veneer, small-round log and fiberboard to protect forest resources through the study of minimalism. which advocates the environmental issue inherent to contemporary furniture in the postmodern era. Based on the historical and theoretical context of minimalism closely related to the environmental protection, this study suggested the technical way how to produce the environment-friendly furniture with the least use of valuable and natural log. Finally, the color-wooden furniture was developed based on the asceticism, simplification, and repetition of the minimalism in a trend of contemporary furniture design. By soaking a veneer, Psuedotsuga menziesii and small-round log, Pinus densiflora into a very-diluted organic dye, the environment-friendly and colored-wood furniture could be created in harmony with contemporary interior space, which has showed various colors such as yellow, blue, red, and green with a pastel tone. The spring wood of the colored softwood was deeply stained, while the summer wood was lightly done. By utilizing such valueless used woods which have been little in furniture production, it was possible to decrease the consumption of precious raw log such as zelkova, ebony, rose, maple, cherry, mahogany and so on. Thus, it became obvious to be able for contemporary furniture designers to produce beautiful furniture with dyed fiberboard and small-round logs pregnant with minimalism.

        한국 전통 목가구에 내재된 솜씨/기술의 패러다임 전환Ⅰ - 반닫이를 응용한 콘솔 연구

        <P>In the postmodern era, this study explored to change the conventional paradigm of the Korean traditional furniture through the development of unique consoles modified from Korean inherited Vandazi which had been used as a kind of small chests. It was suggested that Vandazi that had been widely used by people from all levels of society since remote age in Korea has not been regarded as contemporary furniture for our modern living style. On the other hand, the console tables, which appeared in Roman furniture and in later European furniture from the Middle Age onward, are easily found in a Korean living life space, which led to their excessive imports from Europe and America. Therefore, so as for Vandazi to compete against the foreign consoles, it had to be modernized by adapting itself to the modern living space for a stand-up living style. In order to achieve Vandazi"s superiority in a furniture market, it was modified in a modern fashion by removing the front and the side of Vandazi for making it easy to receive and pick out things, and also by fitting up tiny metal ornaments called Jangseok. For economic reasons, modified Vandazi was made of old-aged chestnut, which has not been widely used as furniture wood, and cheap ailanthus. In addition, the Vandazi design was simplified by removing unnecessary ornaments for the purpose of saving labor costs. The newly-developed Korean consoles from Vandazi are distinct from the foreign consoles by representing their own identities in Korean furniture with differentiation from the foreign consoles, convenience in use, and economical efficiency. It is expected that the development of the Korean console through this study will make a turning point able to raise a market share of the Korean traditional furniture which has not been regarded as competitive products in furniture market.</P>

        Philosophical Modernity Rooted in Modern Movement with Furniture

        This study explored the philosophical Modernity with the Enlightenment in relation to cultural and aesthetic modernism rooted in Modern furniture, which directly reflected modern culture and society with rationality, science, individualism, progressive, universal truths, etc, using qualitative analysis about the related literature as the principal methodology. A fundamental philosophy of the modern furniture influenced by Industrial Revolution is that the dictates of function and industrial technology must be decided by form. The theory and practice of the International Style in modern furniture came from the modern aesthetics in the philosophy of Modernity. As a result, as influenced through the Enlightenment project and the relationship of individual to society in relation to cultural and aesthetic modernism, and the three modern movements with furniture, which are Arts and Crafts movement, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco, represented the beginning style of modern furniture design toward functionalism or minimalism.

        음악의 느낌을 형상화한 화예 작품 창작 - 輝(휘) -

        The work was created through the self-expressive process in which inner perception of mood and emotion was expressed through the form and colors. The idea of the work was drown from sonic stimuli excluding visual motives where usage of visual motives drown directly were avoided and let the perceptive process of feeling, mood, sense and emotion form a composition. The researcher listened to the music 'MAMBO' from the label that contains concert of 40th memorial of 'El Sistema' and perceived the dynamic and lively breath of music as well as powerful explosion of energy. The researcher tried to describe the emotion of Venezuela and 'MAMBO' with white Edgeworthia chrysantha and LED lights. LED lights were positioned in parallel with Edgeworthia chrysantha and the number of lights were controled. The white flowers of scabiosa were used for the LED lights shine through their petals. The work ended by coloring with green paints at edge of Edgeworthia chrysantha. 본 작품은 청각적 자극인 음악을 듣고 그 느낌을 시각적 구성으로 표현하게 함으로써 음악으로 받은 느낌 자체를 감지적 과정을 통해 스스로형상화하도록 요구받았다. 연구자는 음악적 영감이라는 주제를 대하면서‘MAMBO’라는 곡을 통해, 살아 숨 쉬는 연주가 주는 역동성 속에 폭발적인 에너지를 느낄 수 있었으며 남미가 주는 밝고 경쾌한 느낌을 느낄수 있었다. 이어 행해진 이미지 리서치를 통해 음악과 남미의 느낌을 구체적인 형상으로 찾아갈 수 있었다. 리서치를 반복하면서 표현의 깊이와다양성에 대한 연구가 깊어질 수 있었다. 음악의 느낌을 헤어의 뿌려짐과 같은 모티브로 전개시켜 물결이 일렁이는 것처럼 곡선을 이루는 형태와 좀 더 단순화되고 간결한 형태인 사선을 사용하여 내부의 힘이 외부210 한국화예디자인학 연구 제35집를 향해 곧바로 솟아 품어져 나오는 형태의 두 가지 스케치를 전개시켜최종적으로 ‘MAMBO’의 느낌을 더 잘 살리는, 튕겨지고 솟아나는 형태로 정리되었다. 구성 단계에서는 화기에 스티로폼을 넣고 그 위에 삼지닥나무의 얇은 가지들을 부착하였고 삼지닥나무 중간에 LED전구를 넣었는데 전구의 방향을 다르게 배치하고 빛의 양을 조절하였다. 빛이 있는부분에 하얀색 스카비오사를 꽂아 얇은 꽃잎에 빛이 비추도록 하였다. 색이 화려한 색상의 꽃을 사용하지 않고 하얀색 스카비오사만 사용하여빛이 꽃잎을 투과하도록 작업하였으며 그린계열 색상을 삼지닥나무 끝부분에 채색하여 마무리하였다.
