정맥천자 시 리도카인 패치의 적용시간에 따른 통증경감 효과

Purpose: This study was done to assess the influence of application time of Lidocaine patch on pain intensity following venipuncture in hospital. Methods: The participants were 31 adult patients admitted to J hospital in G city. Patients’ anxiety, blood pressure and pulse were measured when no patch was applied and when a patch was applied. To evaluate the pain intensity and physiological index caused by venipuncture, blood pressure, pulse and pain intensity were checked for patients in the no patch group, and for a 5 minutes of application and 30 minutes application patch. Pain was evaluated using a visual analogue scale, anxiety using the Profile of Mood states developed McNair et al. and modified by Lee. Data were analyzed using one-way repeated measures ANOVA with the SPSS 21.0 program. Results: Anxiety and pain were significantly reduced when a lidocaine patch was applied following venipuncture. There was no significant difference in pain intensity whether the lidocaine patch application is for 30 minutes or application for 5 minutes. Conclusion: Results of this study show that application of lidocaine patch can be used as a nursing intervention for pain reduction by showing that there is no need to wait a long time for pain to be reduced.

Workers in the customer service industry including hair and beauty industry workers and department store employees are recently dealing with an increasing need for the supply of excessive services by companies as well as unreasonable demands from consumers. As such, service industry workers who deal with customers are going through not only physical but also verbal and emotional abuse. This study discusses the influences of violence experiences of hair and beauty industry workers on their resilience, an ability to recover, associated with individual characteristics. For such purpose, a total of 247 structured questionnaires obtained from a face-to-face survey of male and female hair and beauty industry workers in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s from Gangbuk and Gangnam District of Seoul Metropolitan City on the influences of experiences of violence from customers on resilience were analyzed. The purpose of this study is to test the influences of violence experiences of hair and beauty industry workers on resilience in association with their general characteristics, and thus analysis of collected data was performed by frequency analysis, testing of reliability with Cronbach’s alpha, descriptive statistics, ttest, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis in SPSS 21.0. The results of this study on violence experiences of hair and beauty industry workers associated with general characteristics suggested that, with respect to age, people in their 20s and 30s had a higher level of internal violence experiences than those in their 40s. As to marital status, married people were found to have a higher level of violence experiences than unmarried people. Married people also showed a higher level of resilience associated with general characteristics than unmarried people, which seems the consequence of differences in their ability to communicate with customers and cope with their work based on their career. Therefore, this study implies that there is a need for the utilization of various educational programs which can help hair and beauty industry workers develop their ability to recover by themselves, as well as protection from their work environment and improvements in their relationships with superiors or colleagues in the workplace due to the nature of hair and beauty industry.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine factors related to the feeling of powerlessness of hospitalized cancer patients. Methods: Study subjects were 150 persons wi수 cancer who resided in a hospital. Instruments were the Family Support Scale (5-point, 11-item), Self- Esteem Scale (4-point, 10-item) and Mental Adjustment to Cancer Scale (4-point, 8-item). Data were collected from July to August 2010, using the structured questionnaires. The SPSS Win version 15.0 was used for descriptive analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson`s correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression. Results: Mean scores of family support, self-esteem and powerlessness were 43.40, 27.04 and 16.52, respectively. Powerlessness was negatively correlated with family support and self-esteem. Family support and self-esteem were significant predictors of powerlessness. Conclusion: Hospitalized cancer patients benefit from greater family-support and higher self-esteem in the relief of the feeling of powerlessness.

아로마 에센셜 오일을 이용한 외요도구 간호가 여성노인 환자의 외요도구 상태에 미치는 효과

Purpose: This study was done to examine the effects of meatal care with essential oil on meatal E-coli and pH of inpatients in geriatric hospital. Methods: The participants were 40 patients admitted to J geriatric hospital in G city, Korea. Twenty patients were assigned to the experimental group and 20 to the control group. Participants in the experimental group received meatal care with essential oil (application of essential oil mixture consisting of lavender, tea tree, and frankincense). The control group received meatal care with saline. The meatal care was performed twice daily for one week in both groups. The scores for meatal odor, meatal pH and bacterial count for E-coli were measured before and after the treatment. Results: The score for meatal odor were significantly lower in the experimental group compared to the control group. The meatal pH and bacterial count for E-coli significantly decreased in the experimental group compared to the control group. Conclusion: Findings indicate that meatal care with essential oil is an effective nursing intervention to reduce meatal odor, meatal pH and bacterial count for E-coli for elderly women inpatients in geriatric hospitals.

리도카인 패치 적용이 당뇨노인환자의 혈당검사 시 통증과 두려움에 미치는 효과

Purpose: This study was done to examine the effects of lidocaine patch application to decrease pain and fear during blood sugar testing in elderly patients with DM. Methods: The participants were 56 elderly patients admitted to J geriatric hospital in G city, Korea. Of the elderly patient, 27 were assigned to the experimental group and 29 to the control group. Participants in the experimental group applied a lidocaine patch on the fingertip for 30 minutes before a blood sugar test. The control group applied a plaster on the fingertip. Pain was evaluated using a visual analogue scale and fear using the Procedure Behaviour Check List. The results were compared using paired t-test and t-test. Results: The scores for pain and fear were significantly lower in the experimental group compared to the control group. Conclusion: The lidocaine patch was found to be an effective local anesthetic to relieve pain and fear during blood sugar test in elderly patients with DM without any severe adverse events.
