        Extended Culture of Bone Marrow with Granulocyte Macrophage-Colony Stimulating Factor Generates Immunosuppressive Cells

        Bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BM-DCs) are generated from bone marrow (BM) cells cultured with granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) for a week. In this study we investigated the effect of duration on the BM culture with GM-CSF. Within several months, the cells in the BM culture gradually expressed homogeneous levels of CD11c and major histocompatibility complex II on surface, and they became unable to stimulate allogeneic naïve T cells in mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR). In addition, when the BM culture were sustained for 32 wk or longer, the BM cells acquired ability to suppress the proliferation of allogeneic T cells in MLR as well as the response of ovalbumin-specific OT-I transgenic T cells in antigen-dependent manner. We found that, except for programmed death-ligand 1, most cell surface molecules were expressed lower in the BM cells cultured with GM-CSF for the extended duration. These results indicate that BM cells in the extended culture with GM-CSF undergo 2 distinct steps of functional change; first, they lose the immunostimulatory capacity; and next, they gain the immunosuppressive ability.

        The Critical Review of the Discourse of North Korean Human Rights and International Anti-corruption: Focused on the Paradox of Human Rights and Sovereignty

        The corruption scandal of North Korea has seen by UN reports said the food and humanitarian aid being diverted to corrupt bureaucrat, whereby requesting to open an investigation. Given int'l inquiry, North Korea has responded by the paradox of human rights and sovereignty, which reflected human security and the principle of nonintervention. That is not, however, only North Korea's assertion in which some way analogous to a long-standing claim of the third world : the issue of North and South, and imperialism versus anti-colonialism. From the sense, the analysis has focused the normative issue of human rights and state sovereignty, and has explored the sphere of the notion in which North Korea engaged the Third World enquiring the justice of the core in line with anti-corruption regime's evolvement. Secondly, it evolved to show what attributes the paradoxical logic to North Korean regime's highly rigid political sense, namely sovereign priority.

        영국과 미국의 그린벨트 사례연구

        Recently Ministry of Construction and Transportation has been purchasing private land in Green BeltArea. Purchasing land for public purpose has been considered to be the governments active measures to preservebudget, more fundamental approaching solution for the preservation is needed. This study is to compare cases inUK and the US utilizing Green Belt system. Green Belt system in UK, which is the parent model of Korean GreenBelt, has been continuously expanded since the establishment in 1938. Green Belt system in the US isdifferentiated from the original Green Belt system because of its object to develop cities for national welfare.However, like the city Howard in UK, which was the model of the US’s Green Belt, cities in the US had forestsGreen Belt surrounding them. The study result shows that the Green Belts in UK and the US have been utilized toincrease amenities of residents. Residents showed their preference for open green land. At the end, this studyrestriction, and increasing amenities of the society. 최근에 건설교통부는 그린벨트의 사유지 일부를 매입하였다. 공영목적의 토지매입은 그린벨트 보존을가 있으므로 보다 근본적인 보존방법에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구는 이러한 목적에서 영국과 미국 그린벨트의 사례를 그린벨트의 활용이란 측면에서 비교하였다. 우리나라 그린벨트의 모체라고 할 수 있는 영국의그린벨트는, 1938년 제도도입 이래 국민적 지지를 받으며 지속적으로 확대되어 왔다. 미국의 그린벨트 도시는차이가 있으나, 그린벨트 도시는 영국 하워드의 전원도시를 모델로 하여 녹색산림지대가 벨트모양으로 둘러싸여 있다는 특징이 있다. 연구결과 영국의 그린벨트와 미국 그린벨트 도시의 녹지는 주민의 어메니티 증진에활용되고 있었다. 녹지가 여가공간의 확보와 쾌적한 환경조성에 도움이 됨으로써 지역주민들은 개방녹지와 자의 이미지보다‘그린’의 이미지를 높이고, 그린벨트의 보존에 대한 지역주민의 자발적 지지를 이끌 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

        옥상녹화에 관한 연구동향

        This study aims at understanding the trend of researches carried out both domestically and internationally on the subject of rooftop afforestation. Together with the discussion on sustainable development, the issue of rooftop afforestation is receiving attention as one of the plans to secure green zones in urban area. While the actual execution of rooftop afforestation in Korea is only in the initial state, thus is not activated, studies on this subject have been actively carried out particularly in terms of the methods of rooftop afforestation. Recently, studies are being actively performed on the creation and effect of rooftop afforestation. However, these studies tend to focus on specific areas. This leads to the necessity to approach the issue of rooftop afforestation with a wider perspective. Therefore, in this study, the previous studies on rooftop afforestation carried out both in and outside the country are categorized as the study on the methods, effect and activation plans of rooftop afforestation, thus are examined to understand the recent trend in the study of rooftop afforestation. The results indicate that domestic studies, which was centered on themethods to promote rooftop afforestation, have been expanding into the study on the methods to establish eco-habitat on rooftop as well as on the environmental and economic effect of rooftop afforestation. On the other hand, overseas studies, previously focused on measuring of economic effect of rooftop afforestation, have been expanding into the study of environmental effect analysis. However, despite the numerous studies performed on the subject, rooftop afforestation is yet to become activated in Korea. Therefore, a supplementary study is required to closely examine problems in the current system or execution method of rooftop afforestation in Korea. 본 연구는 옥상녹화에 관한 국내외 연구동향을 파악하고자 하였다. 지속가능한 개발 논의와 함께 도시의 녹지 확보 방안 중 하나로 옥상녹화가 주목받고 있다. 우리나라의 옥상녹화 시행은 시작단계라 할 만큼 활성화되지 못한데 반해, 옥상녹화 연구는 옥상녹화의 기법 연구를 중심으로 활발히 이루어져 왔다. 최근에는 옥상녹화의 조성, 효용 등에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으나, 연구가 세부적으로 광범위하게 이뤄지고 있어 이를 종합적으로 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 옥상녹화의 국내외 선행연구를 기법, 효용, 활성화 방안에 관한 연구로 분류하여 살펴봄으로써 최근 옥상녹화 연구동향을 파악하였다. 연구결과 옥상녹화 보급을 위한 기법 연구가 중심이었던 국내 연구는 옥상의 생태서식지 조성 기법, 옥상녹화의 환경적·경제적 효용에 관한 연구로 확대되고 있었다. 해외연구는 옥상녹화의 경제적 효과 측정 연구 중심에서 환경적 효용 분석 연구로 확대되고 있었다. 그러나 옥상녹화의 많은 연구에도 우리나라에서는 아직 옥상녹화가 활성화되지 못하고 있기에, 현재 옥상녹화 제도나 실행의 문제점을 면밀히 분석할 필요가 있다.

        문화산업의 불균등 성장과 지리적 특성 분석

        본 연구는 문화산업의 입지동향과 지리적 특성을 분석하였다. 문화산업의 직간접적 효과를 지역개발에 접목시키는 전략이 주목받고 있다. 그러나 문화산업의 공간분포와 지리적 특성은 산업의 구조와 특성의 영향을 받을 수 있다. 또 문화산업의 개념과 범위가 광범위하기에, 동 산업이 상대적으로 입지자율적인가라는 논쟁이 있어왔다. 본 연구는 문화산업을 유형화하고, 문화콘텐츠산업의 가치사슬별·지역별 입지동향과 특화도(LQ)를 분석하여 지리적 특성을 고찰하였다. 연구결과 문화콘텐츠산업은 전국적으로 증가하고 있었으나, 제작부문의 사업체와 종사자가 서울을 중심으로 불균등하게 집적되는 특성을 보이고 있었다. 이러한 결과는 발 없는 산업이라는 기대와 달리 문화콘텐산업의 입지 경향이 산업구조와 특성, 지역적 역량에 영향을 받고 있음을 보여준다. 따라서 문화산업을 유치·육성하고자 하는 지역 그리고 국가적 정책은 개별 문화산업의 구조, 산업 네트워크의 밀도, 지역 역량을 면밀하게 검토하여 추진되어야 할 것이다.

        Modified Mandibulotomy Technique to Reduce Postoperative Complications: 5-Year Results

        Purpose: To review the 5-year outcomes of our modified mandibulotomy technique. Retrospective review of a tertiary level oral cancer center. Materials and Methods: During a 5-year period, 30 patients who had a uniform surgical technique consisting of a lower lip-splitting, modified stair-step osteotomy with thin saw blade and osteotome after plate-precontouring and combination fixation with monocortical osteosynthesis (miniplate) and bicortical osteosynthesis (maxiplate and bicortical screws), with at least 14 months postoperative follow-up, were selected and reviewed retrospectively. Results: There were 8 women and 22 men with an average age of 56.5 years. All the patients involved malignancies were squamous cell carcinoma. The main primary sites of the those who underwent a mandibulotomy were the tonsil, the base of tongue, the oral tongue, the retromolar pad area, and others. Others included buccal cheek, floor of mouth, and soft palate. 23 patients received postoperative radiation therapy, and among whom 8 patients also received chemotherapy. Total four (13%) mandibulotomy-related complications occurred, only two (6.7%) requiring additional operation under general anesthesia. Conclusion: Our modified mandibulotomy meets the criteria for an ideal mandibulotomy technique relatively well because it requires no intermaxillary fixation,can precise preserve the occlusion in a precise way, allows early function, requires no secondary procedures, and has few complications.

        Nutritional, Chemical, and Physical Factors Affecting Callus Induction andProliferation in Pimpinella brachycarpa

        The effect of plant growth regulators, nutrient strength of MS medium, sucrose concentration, and photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) on the induction and proliferation of embryogenic callus (EC) in Pimpinella brachycarpa was investigated. The optimal MS medium strength and sucrose concentration for induction and proliferation of EC were 1.0X and 30 g・L-1, respectively. Treatment with 2,4-D resulted in more induction of both EC and non-embryogenic callus (NEC) than other plant growth regulators. The percentage of EC induction was the greatest (40%) after treatment with 2.0 mg・L-1 2,4-D. Treatment with NAA, IAA, and IBA resulted in rooting and/or shooting, which is disadvantageous for establishing a micropropagation system using somatic embryogenesis. EC proliferation rate was the greatest in auxin-free medium. Better EC induction was found in darkness or dim lighting (20 μmol・m-2・s-1 PPF) compared to higher PPFs. EC proliferation was also retarded at higher PPFs and was best at 0 μmol・m-2・s-1 PPF. After inducing EC from a single explant, the EC mass increased 25 times (from 0.05 to 1.30 g) after 4 weeks when nutritional, chemical and physical factors were optimized.
