        Association between Ectopic Eruption of the Maxillary First Permanent Molar and Skeletal Malocclusion

        This study assessed the association between ectopic eruption of the maxillary first permanent molar and skeletal malocclusion in 5- to 10-year-old children. As subjects, 786 children who attended the Wonkwang University Dental Hospital for orthodontic diagnosis were included. Children with unerupted first permanent molars or fully erupted second permanent molars were excluded. The study group demonstrated ectopic eruption of the maxillary first permanent molar, while the control group did not. Cephalometric radiographs taken between January 2003 and August 2015 were analyzed. Skeletal class III malocclusion was detected in 57.0% of the study group, which differed significantly from that in the control group (p <0.05). The SNA, ANB angles, and A to N-perpendicular distance were significantly smaller, whereas the A-B plane angle and APDI were significantly greater in the study group than in the control group (p <0.05). The SNB and mandibular plane angles were not significantly different between the groups. Thus, maxillary undergrowth is a risk factor for ectopic eruption of the maxillary first permanent molar.

        잿빛곰팜이병균 Botrytis cinera가 분비하는 Polygalacturonase의 부분정제와 특성

        Polygalacturonase (PG) produced by Botrytis cinerea in the culture broth containing citrus pectin as a carbon source was partially purified and characterized. PG was produced on a range of carbon sources such as starch, glycerol, cellobiose, and Na+-PAG with total activities of 34.8, 32.0, 29.2, 27.8 units, respectively. The specific activity was highest with 2316.7 units on Na+-PGA. Proteins of culture filtrate were concentrated with polyethylene glycol and acetone and applied to a hydroxyapatite column. Among three active fractions collected from the column, the reaction containing the highest PG activity was resolved by a Q-sepharose column. The active fraction from the Q-sepharose column was further purified by HPLC Mono Q column. The partially purified enzyme was analyzed by 10% sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Among a few protein bands revealed, the amount of the protein of which molecular weight estimated to be 43 kDa coincided with the PG activity. The partially purified PG had optimal temperatures between 35~55$^{\circ}C$ and pH between 4.5~5.5.

        발성을 통한 호흡훈련이 목 척수손상 환자의 노력성 폐활량과 최대 호기속도의 차이 비교

        This study aims to investigate the effects of a vocalization-based respiratory training intervention on forced vital capacity (FVC) and peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) in patients with a cervical spinal cord injury in a recovery phase, ultimately to present clinical evidence for an efficient respiratory physical therapy. Fifteen participants with a cervical spinal cord injury were randomized to the vocalization-based respiratory training group (n=8) and incentive spirometry training group (n=7). The participants underwent 30 minutes of conservative physical therapy and additionally underwent 15 minutes of their corresponding intervention (respiratory training and incentive spirometry) five times a week for four weeks. Prior to the intervention, pulmonary function tests were performed to analyze FVC and PEFR, both of which were measured again after four weeks of intervention. The values were compared within and between groups. Both groups showed significantly increased FVC and PEFR after the intervention, and the FVC and PEFR in a seated posture significantly differed between the vocalization-based respiratory training group and the incentive spirometry group (p<.01). In the supine position, FVC did not significantly differ between the two groups (p>.05). The results of this study show that vocalization-based respiratory training is more effective in improving FVC in a seated posture and PEFR in the supine position. Vocalization-based respiratory training would improve pulmonary function parameters in patients with cervical spinal cord injury, and additional studies are needed based on these results to examine a variety of variables according to the type of respiratory training technique.

        유네스코 인류무형문화유산 ‘영산재’의 공연 현황과 과제

        Yeongsanjae, which was registered as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009, is the world's cultural heritage that represents Buddhist music and rituals. Since the designation of the national intangible cultural heritage No. 50 in 1973, the tradition and development of the original culture have been carried out by many traditional people, especially the Taego order of Korean Buddhism. In particular, the establishment of the Yeongsanjae Preservation Association in 1987 and the fact that the preservation and performance of Yeongsanjae are in the spotlight on the world stage is a pride of Korean Buddhist culture. In this article, after examining the research trends of Yeongsanjae and Yeongsanjae performances, we looked into the ritual procedures of Yeongsanjae and the performances of Yeongsanjae before and after UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage. In particular, Yeongsanjae, which covers both domestic and international areas, is held to console many victims, including world peace and peace, war and disaster. This shows that the globalization of Korean Buddhism begins with fulfilling its original responsibilities. In addition, Yeongsanjae's performance leaves behind various issues such as national support, organization stabilization, performance manual, feedback system after the performance, and tourism content. We hope that Yeongsanjae will be handed down along with the community culture at the site of his life, taking into account the UNESCO registration criteria. 2009년 유네스코 인류무형문화유산에 등재된 영산재는 불교음악과 의식을 대표하는 세계의 문화유산이다. 1973년 범패가 국가무형문화재 제50호로 지 정된 이후 한국불교태고종을 중심으로 수많은 전승자들에 의해 고유문화의 전승과 발전이 이뤄지고 있다. 특히 1987년 ‘영산재보존회’가 설립되어 본격적 인 영산재의 보존과 공연이 세계무대에서 각광을 받고 있는 점은 한국불교문 화의 자랑이라 할 수 있다. 본고에서는 영산재와 영산재 공연의 연구동향을 먼저 살펴본 뒤 영산재의 의식 절차와 유네스코 인류무형문화유산 등재 전후의 영산재 공연에 대해 살 펴보았다. 특히 영산재는 국내외를 망라하고 세계의 평화와 안녕 그리고 전쟁 과 재난 등 수많은 희생자들을 위로하는 의미에서 행해지고 있음을 알 수 있 다. 이로써 한국불교의 글로벌화는 불교 본연의 책무를 다하는데 부터서 출발 하고 있다는 특징이 드러난다. 또한 영산재의 공연은 국가적 지원, 조직의 안 정화, 공연의 매뉴얼, 공연 이후의 피드백 시스템, 관광콘텐츠화 등 여러 과제 를 남기고 있다. 이후 유네스코 등재 심사 기준을 감안하여 영산재가 삶의 현 장에서 공동체 문화와 함께 전승되기를 기대한다.

        PEDOT:PSS 및 PVDF 기반의 유-무기 열전 필름으로 제작된 플렉서블 열전 에너지 하베스터의 발전 성능 평가

        Thermoelectric (TE) energy harvesting, which converts available thermal resources into electrical energy, is attracting significant attention, as it facilitates wireless and self-powered electronics. Recently, as demand for portable/wearable electronic devices and sensors increases, organic-inorganic TE films with polymeric matrix are being studied to realize flexible thermoelectric energy harvesters (f-TEHs). Here, we developed flexible organic-inorganic TE films with p-type Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 powder and polymeric matrices such as poly(3,4-eethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) and poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF). The fabricated TE films with a PEDOT:PSS matrix and 1 wt% of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) exhibited a power factor value of 3.96 μW ‧ m-1 ‧ K-2 which is about 2.8 times higher than that of PVDF-based TE film. We also fabricated f-TEHs using both types of TE films and investigated the TE output performance. The f-TEH made of PEDOT:PSS-based TE films harvested the maximum load voltage of 3.4 mV, with a load current of 17.4 μA, and output power of 15.7 nW at a temperature difference of 25 K, whereas the f-TEH with PVDF-based TE films generated values of 0.6 mV, 3.3 μA, and 0.54 nW. This study will broaden the fields of the research on methods to improve TE efficiency and the development of flexible organic-inorganic TE films and f-TEH.

        셰익스피어 원작 <로미오와 줄리엣>의 현대적 변용: 뮤지컬 <웨스트 사이드 스토리>를 중심으로

        셰익스피어의 희곡인 <로미오와 줄리엣>은 연극, 영화, 뮤지컬, 무용, 애니메이션 등 거의 모든 분야의 콘텐츠에서 변용 양상을 보인다. 그만큼 셰익스피어의 작품이 주는 권위가 인정된다. 특히 미국에서 뮤지컬과 영화로 제작되어 전 세계인의 사랑을 받고 있다. 이중 본고에서는 <웨스트 사이드 스토리>에 주목하여 <로미오와 줄리엣>의 현대적 변용 양상을 살펴보았다. <로미오와 줄리엣>은 새로운 문화적 코드와 결합하여여러 문화 장르로 재창조되고 있다. 뮤지컬 <로미오와 줄리엣>의 음악은웅장한 음악과 풍부한 선율 그리고 극적인 구성이 잘 표현되어 있는 서정적인 멜로디를 특징으로 하고, <웨스트 사이드 스토리>는 재즈를 중심으로 팝과 하이테크와 같은 대중음악이 두드러지게 연주되어 전통음악과 현대음악이 유기적으로 결합되었다. <로미오와 줄리엣>이 14세기 이탈리아의 베로나를 무대로 두 연인간의 사랑 이야기를 다룬 반면, <웨스트 사이드 스토리>는 20세기 미국 브로드웨이 뮤지컬로 초연되어 인종차별과 갈등 현상으로 변용되었다. 두 작품은 연인간의 사랑 관계, 인종간의 갈등 관계 등 개인적 문제뿐만 아니라 사회적 맥락에서 일정한 교훈을 주고 있다. 그 속에서 음악이 차지하는 비중은 지대하다.

        Hypersensitivity to Local Anesthetics: A Case Report

        Local anesthetics are widely used in clinical dentistry. However, while rare, there have been some reports of true hypersensitivity to local anesthetics. A case of hypersensitivity in a 26-month-old boy is reported. After administering local anesthesia with lidocaine, treatment was performed while the patient was under oral sedation. After treatment, the patient presented with lower lip edema. Treatment with anti-histamines and a steroid successfully reversed his symptoms.

        Development of rice-based gluten-free muffins enriched with tigernut dietary fiber

        The effects of tigernut dietary fiber (TDF: 5, 10, and 20% w/w) inclusion in rice muffin formulations on the functional and pasting properties of composite powders, as well as the nutritional and sensory properties of muffins were investigated. The results showed a significant (p<0.05) proportional increase in the water and oil holding capacity as TDF increased in the powder blends. Moreover, pasting viscosity was found to decrease with the inclusion of TDF. TDF muffins showed improved nutritional quality, with increased protein (~14%), insoluble fiber (~128%) and total fiber (~34%) contents compared to 100% rice muffins. Also, TDF-muffins had lower baking losses (~22%) and better texture, including firmness and chewiness. Sensory scores of TDF-muffins (up to 10% w/w) showed similar consumer acceptability for all parameters considered. Overall, this study suggests tigernut fiber as a functional additive that balances the growing consumers’ demands for healthy and quality gluten-free rice muffins.
