As nuclear industry has been developed, a various types of radiological contaminationhas occurred. After 9.11 terror in U.S.A., it has been concerned that terrorists’ active area hasbeen enlarged to use nuclear or radioactive substance. Recently, the most powerful earth-quakestroke, which triggered a massive tsunami in Japan and then Fukushima nuclear power plant reactorhas suffered from a serious accident in history. The Fukushima reactor accident has occurredan anxiety of radiation leaks and about 170,000 people have been evacuated from the accidentalarea near the nuclear power plant. For these reasons, a social chaos can be occurred if radiologicalcontamination occurs to the supply system for the drinking water. As such, the establishmentof the radiation monitoring system for the city main water system is compelling for the nationalsecurity. In this study, a feasibility test of radiation monitoring system which consists of unifiedhybrid-type radiation detectors was experimented for multi detection system by using gammarayimaging. The hybrid-type radiation sensors were fabricated with CsI(Tl) scintillators andphotodiodes. A preamplifier and amplifier was also fabricated and assembled with the sensor inthe shielding case. For the preliminary test of detection of radiological contamination in the river,multi CsI(Tl)-PIN photodiode radiation detectors and 137Cs gamma-ray source were used. TheDAQ was done by Linux based ROOT program and NI DAQ system with Labview program. Thesimulated contamination was assumed to be occurred at Gapcheon river in Daejeon city. MultiCsI(Tl)-PIN photodiode radiation detectors were positioned at the Gapcheon river side. Assumingthat the radiological contaminations flows in the river the 137Cs gamma-ray source has beenmoved and then, the contamination region was reconstructed.

Crohn's disease is an indolent, chronic inflammatory bowel disease capable of involving the entire alimentary tract. The exact etiology and pathogenesis remain unknown despite a long and intensive research, but the finding of various abnormalities of the immune response in patients with Crohn's disease has led to the concepts that immune mechanism is involved in the pathogenesis of this disease. Recently, we have experienced a case of Crohn's disease. So the purpose of this study is to examine the efficacy of Oriental medicine for Crohn's disease.

Hydrocele is commonly found clinically and it is associated with patent processes vaginalis. The exact causes of this disease have no been proved up to now however monthly this disease disappears in twelve months after birth but some cases remain. For the treatment we do hydrocelectomy and although the rate of complications were low, sometimes the complications result in reoperations of children. Form the view of oriental medicine, hydrocele is included in susan(水疝) and this treatment originated from naekyung(內經). In this case, we got good results after treating a boy at the age of twenly-five months by bojungikitanggamibang therefor we want to annoume this.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is case report of stroke in childhood. The childhood cerebrovascular diseases are interesting than those seen in adulthood, because the etiology and prognosis of the disease in children are quite different from those of adults. Cerebrovascular diseases in children is more common than once recognized. However, relatively little attention has been paid to the epidemiology of childhood stroke. Methods : We experienced one case of ischemic stroke in childhood whose symptoms are similar to that of adults. There is no evidence of cerebrovascular malformation at MRI, MRA film. The cause of stroke is undetermined and just we can see the little infarction lesion on Lt. pons. We treated the patient with herb medicine, acupuncture-Tx, negative-Tx, moxa-Tx and physical treatment. Results : After the treatment of oriental medicine, the patient recovered from the stroke symptoms. Conclusion : we thought that the more follow-up is needed. So we repoert one case of cerebral infarction in children that recovered from stroke symptoms after the treatment of oriental medicine.

Modelling the damage to DNA molecules by ionizing radiation plays a crucial part in predicting the biological effects of any form of radiation therapy, but the creation of accurate damage models remains scientifically challenging. This study evaluated the frequency and severity of DNA strand breaks caused by direct and indirect radiation effects using the Geant4 DNA simulation toolkit. The DNA itself was represented as a continuous fractal Hilbert curve with a total length of approximately 6.4 Gbp, consisting of straight and twisted chromatin sections placed inside a simplified model of a human fibroblast cell. Using At-211 and Ac-225, both alpha-emitting radionuclides employed under assumption of radiopharmaceutical treatment, the results were compared to those from external irradiation with 1.5 MeV gamma rays. For each Gy of absorbed dose, the strand break yields were 103 ± 10 SSBs/Gbp and 15 ± 4 DSBs/Gbp for At-211, 96 ± 10 SSBs/Gbp and 15 ± 4 DSBs/Gbp for Ac-225, as well as 198 ± 14 SSBs/Gbp and 7 ± 3 DSBs/Gbp for the gamma rays. Thus, the radionuclides exhibited more than double the incidence of DSBs at the expense of SSBs compared to the gamma radiation. By demonstrating the feasibility of adapting the Geant4 DNA toolkit for in silico studies of the radiobiological effects of therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals at the DNA level, this is the first step towards the development of a comprehensive simulation model for determining the relative biological effectiveness of radiopharmaceuticals.
