This research investigates current operation status of green architecture-related organizations and suggests several recommendations to improve inefficient green architecture policies in Korea. The diverse approaches, such as green building certification systems, eco-friendly and low-energy construction technologies, investment on specialized green architecture researches, etc., have been executed to support green architecture under the green growth policies of the Korean government. In addition, several green architecture-related institutions and organizations have been working to drive green architecture processes. In spite of these efforts, overall improvements and synergy effects have not been achieved to the level of the satisfaction mainly due to the lack of operational integration of those respective organizations. Therefore, this study compares operational characteristics of green architecture-related organizations of five countries. As the results of investigation, 1) unified operation of green architecture institution, 2) training of professionals of green architecture, 3) systematization of education of green architecture, and 4) unified of operation of certification system were recommended. These suggestions could be used to develop more specified integration plan of the future green architecture-related organizations and establish detailed programs and roles of respective organizations.

The goal of this study is to suggest an improved Green Building Certification Criteria(GBCC) operational system in Korea. The scope of the study covers the identification of the GBCC operational status of five leading countries, Korea, U.S, England, Australia, and Japan, in the construction of green buildings. The analyses were mainly classified into two folds, GBCC operation system and GBCC supporting system. For the GBCC operation system, a new integrated GBCC operation structure, which includes certificating, reviewing, and upgrading processes, is suggested in lieu of the exiting plural operation structure. The current both preliminary and final review should be combined an unified organization. An online GBCC processing is recommended to save money, time, and space. For GBCC supporting system, GBCC educational programs should be developed in separate and sequential levels. Professional qualification program and its public relation are also mandatory subjects for the globalization of the GBCC. Further studies, the possibility and necessity of their integrated performances would be proceeded as well as the extension of the certification institution work.

With recent increasing environment friendly recognition, this research studied a methodology to design a environment friendly office building focused on the open and continuous spacing programming. Especially, 'communication among human being, nature, and office space' in designing office buildings is a key factor to improve personal potential development and information productivity. This study concluded that office buildings should he designed not by the functional space partition method, but by the suggested integrated space programming through the open and continuous space programming from early preliminary design phase.
