        Color-based particle filter has a good object tracking performance against background clutters and is robust to object rotation and scale variation. However, as the particle filter estimates the probability of the object by averaging the likelihood measured at each sample, we need a lot of samples for desirable object tracking performance. Thus the implementation in real-time demands high computational cost. In this paper, we present experimental object tracking performance and processing time of the four steps of the particle filter according to the number of samples for implementing real-time object tracking system.

      • COB(Chip-on-Board) 자동 검사 시스템의 개발

        Recently, COBs(Chip-on-Boards) are widely adopted for their small size and the demand of security in the emerging applications including smart cards, electronic money cards, and RF identification cards. For mass production of such cards, it is required to verify the functionality of all COBs before they can be inserted into the cards. In this paper, we present a system for automatically testing COBs wound in reel. The presented system consists of COB feeding mechanism, COB probes, and S/W controller, and can test EEPROM-type COBs and RF-type COBs alike by the reconfiguration of some H/W and S/W components.

      • 적응 필터링을 위한 개선된 Polyphase 구조와 성능 비교

        Recently, an asymptotically alias-free polyphase structure (PPS) for adaptive filtering application has been reported [8] in which the DFT falter bank polyphase decomposition allows fast convergence and tracking capabilities compared to LMS and FDLMS algorithms. However, it inherently suffers from computational problem for updating the auto- and cross-correlation when applied for real-time processing. In this paper, we present a modified PPS adaptive filtering method and its application to cancelling acoustic echoes for hands-free telecommunication. Also presented are experimental results on the performance of the proposed algorithm compared to NLMS-based approaches.

      • 자동초점 기능이 있는 영상 추적 카메라 시스템의 개발

        A video tracking camera system is presented that can track a target person continuously while maintaining the camera in focus on the target. For tracking the target, we have used the well-known meas-shirt (MS) algorithm with some modifications such that the estimated target sire is more accurate than the original MS algorithm. The modified MS algorithm is implemented on a prototype H/W board that is equipped with TI's TMS320C6211 DSP and Samsung ARM7-based MPU. The prototype H/W board then controls a CCTV camera that is capable of Pan/Tilt/AF control through a RS-485 serial line. The constructed video tracking camera system can track the target in real-time with a processing rate of 7 frames/sec.

      • 음향적 반향 제거 알고리즘의 고정소수점 구현시 성능 비교

        Acoustic echoes are very annoying in the full-duplex communication applications such as hands-free telephones and remote teleconferencing. However the cancellation of these echoes is very difficult as it requires an adaptive filter which attains fast convergence and good tracking capability. In this work, we present an improved NLMS-based adaptive echo cancelling algorithm and a systematic method to convert it into the corresponding fixed-point one. Also, the performance of the resulting fixed-point implementation is analyzed through computer simulations. Based on these results, we can implement acoustic echo cancellers using cost-efficient fixed-point DSP processors.

      • ON THE EVALUATION OF THE SCHEDULING TIME SPACE FOR RECURSIVE DATA-FLOW-GRAPHS

        디지털 필터를 포함한 많은 신호처리 알고리즘들은 데이터흐름 그래프(DFG)로 효과적으로 표현될 수 있다. 이때, DFG에 피이드백(feedback) 루프(loop)에 의한 recursive 처리 부분의 존재 유무에 따라 recursive DFG와 non-recursive DFG로 구분할 수 있다. 후자의 경우 처리에 필요한 latency를 충분히 길게 허용한다면 각 노드간의 처리순서(precedence)를 유지하면서도 임의의 원하는 만큼의 처리속도를 얻을 수 있다. 그러나 전자의 경우 피드백 루프에 속한 각 노드간의 처리순서 제한조건을 위배하지 않으면서 무한정 빠르게 처리를 할 수 없다. 최적의 처리속도를 얻기 위해서는 recursive DFG에서 각 노드가 스케줄 될 수 있는 시간영역을 분석하여 내는 일이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 recursive 처리부를 갖는 DFG에서 스케줄링 가능한 시간영역을 찾아내는 그래프상의 최단 경로 탐색 알고리즘에 근거한 방법을 제시한다.

      • 스케일 추정을 동시에 수행하는 Mean-shift 얼굴 추적

        The mean-shift(MS) algorithm is widely accepted as an efficient method for detection and tracking of human faces with an active camera. The MS algorithm employs the Bhattacharyya coefficient as a similarity measure between the color distribution of the face model and the reference model. However, it is known that if the scale of the face model is not estimated correctly the performance of MS algorithm suffers severely, and thus there have been many research efforts to estimate the correct scale of the target face. This paper presents a new algorithm that can track the human face using the mean-shifting iteration while controlling the scale of the face precisely at the same time. Computer experiments have been conducted to show that the presented method is superior to the previous MS-based methods in tracking capability due to the precise estimate of the scale of the face.

      • 다상 FIR 필터와 Farrow 구조 보간기를 직렬 연결하는 분수 샘플 비율 변환기의 설계 및 성능 연구

        Fractional sample rate converters (SRCs) are essential for signal processing applications such as sample rate conversion, clock synchronization, and fractional delay. A fractional SRC can be designed as one polyphase-phase FIR filter, or as a two stage filter where an integer-factor interpolator is cascaded with an arbitrary sampling rate interpolator based on the Farrow structure. In this paper, we compare the two design approaches through simulations in terms of the frequency response and the required amount of hardware. Simulations show that the latter approach requires much less hardware than the first one while satisfying the design specification of the SRC well.

      • Evaluation of the Maximal-Rate Iteration Period for Recursive Data-Flow Graphs

        신호처리 분야에서 널리 사용되는 recursive 데이터 흐름 그래프(DFG: Data-Flow Graph)는 cycle희 인해 필연적으로 처리 속도에 제한을 가진다. 주어진 recursive DFG가 얼마나 짧은 반복 주기로 처리될 수 있는지 알아내는 문제와 또 어떤 cycle로 인하여 처리 속도가 제한되는 지를 알아내는 것은 다중 프로세서에 DFG를 스케줄링하는 데 있어 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 그래프 이론적인 배경을 사용하여O(│η³logη│)의 시간 내에 DFG의 최대 처리 반복 주기를 계산한 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. 제시된 방법은 이론적으로 가능한 최대 처리율을 갖는 반복 주기 값을 얻을 수 있다.

        A new survivor-path traceback method for high-speed Viterbi decoding is presented. Previously known methods require either a complex κ-ported memory structure of κ-times faster memory read capability than write, which are not suitable for high-speed operation. In the new method, a novel usage of multiple starting node number deciding circuits enables to achieve the immediate traceback of the survivor path and to use only a pair of one read-pointer and one write-pointer. Thus, the proposed method can achieve smaller survivor path memory size and processing delay time than the previous methods.
