The purpose of this study is to provide definition of proprioception, foundations and roles of neuroanatomy, and systemical review of proprioceptive activities in sensory integration intervention. Proprioception exists in muscle, ligaments, joints and skin and it plays important role in controling body movements and interacting with environment during child development. Proprioception interacting with tactile and vestibular systems contributes to the change of muscle tone, postural control, refinements of planning and praxis. Children who are deficit in proprioceptive processing would seek hypo-responsive proprioceptive input or avoid hyperactive one. Outcome of poor proprioceptive input would cause the problems of praxis and postural control. Because proprioception provides information about the position and movement of body and limb it is important for development of body scheme and motor planning. It also influences the arousal and emotional tone. Sensory integration intervention which provides rich proprioceptive activities will improve the level of arousal and enhance motor planning.

Cloning and Expression of Human ${\alpha}1$-antitrypsin cDNA in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae

인체 알파원앤티트립신 cDNA 서열을 효모 Saccharomyes cerevisiae에서 GAL10-CYC1 하이브리드 프로모터의 조절하에 발현시켰다. $Gal^+$ 숙주 균주는 각각 다른 유전자에 변이가 생긴 두 개의 $Gal^-$ 균주를 교배하여 얻은 이배체를 사포자분석하여 얻었다. 상기의 균주 KY8을 발현벡터 pGAT7로 형질전환시키고 갈락토스배지에서 알파원앤티트립신의 발현을 유도한 결과 일레스타제의 저해활성 및 면역블랏법으로 그 생산을 확인할 수 있었다. 효모에서 생산된 재조합 알파원앤티트립신의 분자량은 약 44 kDa로서 이는 알파원앤티트립신 구조유전자의 cDNA 서열로부터 예측한 바와 같다. Human ${\alpha}1$-antitrypsin cDNA was expressed in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae under the regulation of GAL10-CYC1 hybrid promoter. A suitable $Gal^+$ host strain was constructed by tetrad analysis of a diploid from a cross of two $Gal^-$ strains, each affected in a different galactose utilizing gene. The resulting strain KY8 was transformed with the expression plasmid pGAT7 and the synthesis of ${\alpha}1$-antitrypsin was induced in galactose medium. Production of ${\alpha}1$-antitrypsin in recombinant yeast cells was confirmed by an elastase inhibitory assay and an immunoblotting method. The molecular weight of recombinant ${\alpha}1$-antitrypsin synthesized in yeast was 44 kDa which was expected from the full length cDNA sequence of the ${\alpha}1$-antitrypsin structural gene.

성별, 가구의 소득수준에 따른 유아의 학교준비도 잠재평균분석

The purpose of this study was to examine the differences of preschool children's school readiness for types of gender and household income level. For this, latent means analysis was used to identify more accurate group differences by controlling measurement errors. This study used the 7th data of Panel Study on Korean Children(PSKC) of Korea Institute of Child Care and Education. The results of the study are as follows. First, girls’ school readiness was significantly higher than boys. When Cohen's effect size was taken into consideration, the effect size of approaches to learning had a large degree, while the effect size of social and emotional development and cognitive development and general knowledge had a moderate degree. Second, the latent means analysis by household income level indicated that the children with above middle income family showed higher school readiness than the children with low income family in all four subcategories. The Cohen's effect size of cognitive development and general knowledge had a moderate degree, while the degree of social and emotional development approaches to learning and communication skill was slight. Based on the results of the research, policy suggestions for enhancing the preschool children’s school readiness were suggested. 본 연구는 유아의 학교준비도가 아동 성별 및 가구 소득계층에 따라 차이를 보일 수 있다는 점에서 성별과 소득계층에 따른 집단 간 평균 차이를 비교 분석하였다. 유아의 학교준비도는 개념적으로 정의된 구인이므로 측정오차를 통제하지 못하는 t검증이나 분산분석보다 더 정확한 집단 차이를 규명할 수 있는 잠재평균분석을 활용함으로써 집단 간 차이를 면밀하게 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 잠재평균 분석 결과 성별 간 비교에서 여아가 남아에 비해 사회정서, 학습태도, 의사소통, 인지발달 및 일반적 지식 모든 하위 영역에서 모두 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. Cohen의 효과크기를 고려하였을 때 학습태도는 큰 정도, 사회정서 발달과 인지발달 및 일반적 지식은 중간 정도 수준 이상의 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 의사소통의 차이는 미미하였다. 둘째, 가구 소득수준에 따른 집단 간 비교에서 중산층 이상 가구의 아동이 저소득 가구의 아동에 비해 학교준비도 네 가지 하위요인 모두 높은 것으로 나타났다. Cohen의 효과크기를 고려하였을 때, 인지발달 및 일반적 지식은 중간 이상의 차이, 사회정서 발달, 학습태도와 의사소통능력은 비교적 미미한 차이를 보였다. 본 연구결과에 터하여 유아의 학교준비도 제고를 위한 정책적 제언을 도출하였다.
