Transference of Cold 85Rb Atoms from a Mirror MOT to U-MOT on an External Atom Chip
2010 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.56 No.3
We have designed an atom chip for manipulating cold atoms with magnetic fields generated by electric currents. Electric wires with a U shape for a quadrupole trap and a Z shape for the Ioffe-Pritchard trap were printed on the 26 mm × 26 mm chip. This chip was bonded on a 16 × 16× 70 mm3 glass cell. The glass cell was for a mirror MOT. 85Rb atoms are magneto optically trapped near the chip’s surface (mirror-MOT); then, the trapped atoms are transferred from the mirror-MOT to the U-MOT by gradually decreasing the magnetic field for the mirror-MOT while increasing the current for the U-MOT. A transfer efficiency of 27.1% was measured by comparing the fluorescence from the atoms of U-MOT and the mirror-MOT.

Even though the shape of an object in a shadow or an image performed by lens or mirror looks similar, they are conceptually completely different from each other. In Korea science curriculum, a shadow is related to straight propagation of light, and an image is related to reflection by mirror or refraction by lens. There is conceptually confusion in both shadow and image, because the same word “상”, which means a shape, is used to two different cases. This paper will help teachers to understand shadow and image by using the situation of “the shadow image".

The electromagnetically induced absorpTIon (EIA) in the transition line, F=4$\longrightarrow$F'=5, of Cs $D_2$ line was lnveslIgaled. We observed the large increase in atomic absorption due to cohelent interaction with two resonanllaser fields. The requuements of EIA in the Cs atoms were investigated experimentally. The magnitude of EIA signal dependIng on both laser jinewidth and the intensity of coupling laser was measured. Also we are able to observe the amplified absorption signal by incoherent optical pumping of atoms into the closed system.system.

A two-color LED multi-flash stroboscope made by connecting two LEDs emitting different colors of light to a general household alternating current (AC) power source was used to take stroboscope photos for the motion of various objects. This multi-flash stroboscope is made of inexpensive materials such as a breadboard, two LEDs, a resistor, and a transformer, and is very easy to manufacture. In addition, it is convenient to use at school because it uses AC power for home use, and it is safe for students to operate it by lowering the voltage using a transformer. Directly taking multi-flash photos presented in the current curriculum not only leads students to analyze various movements, but also finds the characteristics of LEDs and diodes, the concept of resistance and resistance values, AC and DC, and principle of transformer in the process of making the device. It has great educational utility in that it can enhance the convergence competency emphasized in current science education. Because two-color LEDs are lit alternately, the movement of objects can be seen in more detail than when a single light source is used, and when a picture is taken with a smart phone, it can greatly attract students' attention. Through this study, it is expected that a two-color LED multi-flash stroboscope device using alternating current can be easily manufactured and used for various motion analysis, thereby stimulating interest in physical learning and enhancing the learning effect.

Vol.2 No.2
We have proposed three methods to measure sound speed, which are measurements of a wavelength (1)using two microphones, (2) moving a microphone between two speakers for standing wave, and (3) moving a speaker for generating a standing wave. We are able to show the same speed in all three cases at the same room temperature

Vol.2022 No.11
CFRP, which consists of composite materials and can easily be exposed to a high-pressure environment, requires a systematic safety inspection to identify specific defects and failure types. AET is a suitable method for fault diagnosis because AE signals can be collected sensitively to the source of defects. However, there is no system to accurately diagnose the fault of CFRP. This study introduces a method for identifying defects in CFRP using the deep learning-based model of AE signal. The dataset was established by collecting defective sensor waveforms generated during the tensile test on CFRP materials. A deep learning-based 1DCNN model was developed by classifying each source, showing 91.6% accuracy. Through this study, a prompt and accurate diagnosis of CFRP can be established resulting in structural stability.
