Brachial plexus block has been evaluated in 192 cases of surgery of the upper extremities performed during the past 13 years and 9 months. (from Jan. 1958 to Sept. 1971) We have assessed supraclavicular and axillary brachial plexus block using 1% to 2% procaine and lidocaine adding adrenaline case by case. The dosage given was 30 ml to 40 ml in each case There were 142 males and 50 females. In 26 blocks judged unsatisfactory for surgery, we have usually substituted inhalation anesthesia and .2 cases were supplimented with intravenous thiopental sodium, 2.5%, 3 ml to 5 ml intermittently and 4 cases with intravenous thiopental sodium and meperidine. There were 4 cases of complications of supraclavicular brachial plexus block including 2 cases of pneumothorax, one of Horners syndrome only and a cardiac arrest immediately after block. There were no complications in axillary approaches. Therefore in conclusion this brachial plexus block was a simple and useful technic in surgery and treatment of the upper extremities.

Corporate strategy and manufacturing activity are determined by characteristics of its internal manufacturing system as well as external environments. The internal manufacturing system generally develops through the stages which are called the evolution of manufacturing. A relevant relationship between evolution of manufacturing method and corporate manufacturing program results in a desirable corporate performance. This study reviewed the literatures regarding the strategtic advantages of FA, specifics of various quality management programs and requirements of effective quality management. Based on the research results, several practical implication of this study can be given as follows: First, through framing the automation stages in terms of their present status, the study provides future directions of FA progress and characteristics. Second, the difference findings in the quality performance by automation stage can be a help in search of strategic factors, which should be strategically scrutinized in the consistent advance of factory automation.

한반도의 동쪽에 위치해 있는 삼척(venus clam from Samcheok; VCS)과 원산(venus clam from Wonsan; VCW) 지역에서 채취된 민들조개(Gomphina aequilatera)에서 genomic DNAs(gDNAs)를 분리 추출하였다. 증폭산물은 primer agarose 전기영동법에 의해서 생성되었고, EtBr에 의해서 염색된 이후에 자외선에 의해서 확인되었다. 150 bp에서 2,400 bp에 해당되는 shared Genomic DNAs(gDNAs) were isolated from the venus clam(Gomphina aequilatera) from Samcheok(venus clam from Samcheok; VCS) and Wonsan(venus clam from Wonsan; VCW) located in the East Sea of the Korean Peninsula. The amplified products were generated by agarose gel electrophoresis(AGE) with oligonucleotides primer, detected by staining with ethidium bromide and viewed by ultraviolet ray. The seven arbitrarily selected primers BION-21, BION-23, BION-25, BION-27, BION-29, BION-31 and BION-33 generated the shared loci, polymorphic, and specific loci, with the molecular sizes ranging from 150 bp to 2,400 bp. In this study, 147 polymorphic loci(147/954 loci, 15.41%) in VCS population and 274(274/996 loci, 27.51%) in VCW population were generated with seven primers. These results suggest the genetic variation in VCW population is higher than in VCS population. Especially, the 700 bp bands generated by the primer BION-21 were identified commonly in two Gomphina populations, which identified populations and/or species. This specific primer was found to be useful in the identification of individuals and/or population, resulting from the different DNA polymorphism among individuals/species/population. Two Gomphina populations between the individual SAMCHEOK no. 03 and WONSAN no. 22 showed the longest genetic distance(0.696) in comparison with other individuals used. The complete linkage cluster analysis indicating three genetic groupings and dendrogram revealed close relationships among individual identities within two geographical populations of venus clam(G. aequilatera) from the Samcheok and Wonsan. The intra-species classification and clustering analyses inferred from molecular markers supported the traditional taxonomy of the species based on morphological characters such as shell size, shape and color. Accordingly, as mentioned above, RAPD analysis showed that VCS population was more or less separated from VCW population.
토끼 대동맥환에서 Halothane 과 Sevoflurane 이 내피의존에 의한 혈관 장력에 미치는 영향

This study was aimed to elucidate the endothelium-dependent vascular effects of halothane and sevoflurane on rabbit aortic rings at two conventional concentrations(high induction and low maintenance concentration in human). Isometric tenslon was recorded in isolated aortic rings. Preparations of rabbit thoracic aorta were suspended in Krebs' buffer and aerated with 95% O_2 and 5% CO_2. One set of the rings had intact endothelium and the other set of the rings had endothelium mechanically denuded. In the first experiments, the rings were precontracted with norepinephrine(NE) of 10^(-7) M. After tension was stabilized in 10~15 minutes following NE, halothane(1, 2%) or sevoflurane(2, 4%) was bubbled with O_2/CO_2 gas mixture at increasing concentrations. In the second experiment, O_2/CO_2 gas mixture only(control rings), halothane 2% or sevoflurane 4 % with O_2/CO_2, gas mixture was bubbled for 10 minutes prior to and during contraction with NE of 10^(-7)M. After tension was stabilized following NE, acetylcholine(10(-8)-10(-6) M) was added cumulatively. In the third experiment, the procedure was as same as the second experiment except for that acetylcholine(10^(-8)-10^(-6) M) was substitued for nitroglycerin (10^(-9)-10^(-6) M) . The present study demonstated that both of halothane and sevoflurane at high concentration caused a vasoconstriction to 110.7±4.2% and 122.4±8.4% in vascular rings with intact endothelium, and 106.1±1.9% and 118.3±3.5% in vascular rings with denuded endothelium, respectively, compared to each control value of 100%. Furthermore, halothane and sevoflurane attenuated the acetylcholine induced relaxing response in NE-precontracted vascular rings with intact endothelium, but did not affect any change of tension in vascular rings with denuded endothelium. Halothane and sevoflurane did not attenuate the nitroglycerin induced relaxing response in NE-precontracted vascular rings with both intact and denuded endothelium. In conclusion, halothane and sevoflurane at high concentration has vasoconstrictory effects ascular smooth muscles in rabbit aortic rings regardless of presence of endothelium and also attenuated the endothelium-dependent relaxation. A 43 years old female patient who had known FSH form(Fascioscapulohumoral type) muscular dystrophy was scheduled for total abdominal hysterectomy due to uterine myoma. Induction of ansthesia was performed without muscle relaxant and maintained with fentanyl, oxygen and nitrous oxide. Muscle relaxation was excellent without neuromuscular blocking agent by the meuromuscular twitch monitoring(too week response to neuromuscular twitch at 70mA). After the end of operation, the patient was awaken without any problem and was transferred to recovery room.
