This study aims to set an interface for the navigation that will help the visually impaired people estimate the distance better. The metric system of measurement is a universal way to estimate the distance. However, the metric system is hard to be accustomed when it comes to visually impaired people who possess different perception of distance. Therefore, this study suggests another way to estimate the distance, which shall be done with using visually impaired people’s own pace. In other words, information about the number of remaining steps will help the visually impaired people to get to their destination effectively. The theoretical consideration and experiments have been done to organize and develop the interface. It is expected that the results of this study can actualize the visually impaired people’s real freedom of movement since the interface can be applied to way-finding navigations.
