This study was conducted to evaluate the fruit characteristics of ‘Kalle’ pear with red skin under the Korean climatic condition. It was analyzed for the anthocyanin expression by different development stages with bagging and no bagging condition and also change of fruit quality under the room temperature(RT) after the ripening treatment(RIT; 2oC, 10days). In the result, average fruit weight of ‘Kalle’ was 220 g, full blooming date was about 25 Apr., harvest time was about 123 days after full blooming( DAFB) and it had resistant to scab(Venturia nashicola). Fruit length(L), diameter(D) and weight were increased continuously but not for L/D ratio from 85 to 120 DAFB. Namely, it was estimated that the fruit development was by length in the early stage and by width in the late stage. For bagging condition, there was significant decrease to 21.6, 19.7, 11.6mg/100g in the anthocyanin content of fruit skin for 85, 100, 120 DAFB, respectively. Though red color remained for no bagging fruits at the harvest time, anthocyanin contents also decreased compared to those of early development stage. Ripened fruit quality of ‘Kalle’ was the best in 15 ~ 20 days under RT condition. Fruits hardness kept at RT condition was decreased slowly during two weeks from 2.7~2.9 kg/5mmΦ to below l kg/5mmΦ. It seemed RIT made the flesh buttery and juicy, and also increase for aroma release and soluble solids contents.
