      • 右心房璧 移植에 關한 實驗的 硏究

        Macroscopic and histological studies were done on the canine right atrial patch grafts. Fresh autogenous and alcohol prserved homologous pericardium, dacron, and compressed. ivalon sponge patches were grafted into the right atrium to expand the atrial cavity. One, two, three, and four months specimens were obtained from each patch group off long term survivors. . Macroscopic findings: Among twenty long-term survivors an .organized thrombose was found on the intimal surface of the homologous pericarduim and decron patch, which were one month old. In one month old specimens, intimal surfaces were ragged and rough, while after two months every specimen showed smooth and glittering endocardial surface except homologous pericardiums. There was no evidence of aneurysmal dilatation of thee grafts. Shrinkage of the graft was almost absent in ivalon and remakeble in the homologous pericardium group. Microscopically: . One month group showed mainly neutrophile polymorphnuclear leucocyte infiltration, indicating acute inflammatory processes. . Two to three months old groups of the specimens showed subsiding acute inflammatory signs and repairing processes with marked small round cell infiltration, fibroblast, and fibrous connective tissue proliferation in and around the patches. In four months specimens fibrous connective tissue capsules were incorporated into the hosts’ myocardium firmly, and in most of them endothelialization of the intimal surfaces of these connective tissue capsules were noted. Among these four kinds of patch groups dacron showed the most and autogenous pericardium the least severe tissue reactions. In this right atrial patch graft experiment it was shown that the grafts healed satisfactorily in four months.

        Effects of Students’ Perceived Safety of Public Outdoor Environment on Academic Achievement at University Campus

        The physical environment can dramatically affect students’ feeling and their behavior, educational attainment, and the way in which we do school activities. Unlimited access to campus areas without appropriate securities have reported an increase of crime in school area and safety issues has encouraged school facility planners to install securities devices at every corner of buildings. However, it is still questionable whether this approach is enough to protect students and staffs from the victimization of crime, including thefts, burglaries and sexual offences. There has been continued doubt about the safety of educational facilities where individual college students are studying and enjoying extra-curricular activities. Therefore, the purpose of this study is intended to investigate the effects of perception of safety by students on the level of academic performance at public outdoor environment of university campus. An extensive literature noted that the central element of modern school design principle mainly holds the theory of crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) and the concept of defensible space. The second generation of CPTED also focused on social soft issues as well as situational factors, which extends beyond mere physical design to include social factors. The correlation analysis found that the effect of sense of safety does appear to be statistically significant on the facilitation of academic achievement. However, the analysis of Chi-square concluded that the perception of safety was not related to demographic and socio-economic profiles of the group except for gender. Further, stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most prime predictor for academic achievement were ‘safe public outdoor space/paths’ at university campus environment, implying careful design of public open space and sidewalks based on the guideline of CPTED. The study also demonstrated that as the level of positive perception of safety rose, the overall academic achievement also responded to the specified rate (β=.99). Finally, the findings reinforce an evidence that high-quality school environments are a positive factor in student academic performance.

        유니버설디자인 개념에 의거한 대학내 학생편의시설 평가 및 개선방향에 대한 연구

        The student hall and its convenient facilities are hot-core space for various student activities in university campus. It has been for most of the student a place of sweet memories and romance imprinted by a positive image of a cozy atmosphere of unique eating establishments or student hectic activities that used to take place. However, it is questionable whether that facilities are open for all of the students and other users including the handicapped. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate student convenient facilities and to provide an improvement guideline for the wellbeing of students and other users, based on universal design concept. For that purpose, eight universities were selected for an investigation and 81 survey items were developed based on universal design concept; supportive, adaptable, accessible, and safety-oriented design. The analysis found that accessibility to main entry areas, main entry doors, stairs, and handicapped parking were positively evaluated, while information system for handicapped, handicapped public bath, and corridors lacked some notion of supportive and accessible design. Finally the study suggested some useful planning and design guidelines for an extensive and precise application of universal design concept.

        유니버설디자인 개념에 의거한 대학내 학생편의시설 평가 및 개선방향에 대한 연구 - 미국 텍사스주를 중심으로 -

        Student halls and their convenient facilities have been a focal point for various student activities at university campus. It has been for most of the student a place of unique memories and of attachment often associated with those good and bad school days. However, it is questionable whether these facilities are supportive and accessible for all of the students and other users including the handicapped. Therefore, based on the concept of UD(universal design) which was widely applied to U.S. institutions, this study intended to evaluate student hall facilities in U.S. and to provide an improvement direction for Korean UD application. For that purpose, four universities were selected for an in-depth analysis and 76 survey indices were utilized based on previous research. It was found that (1) design consideration without braille sign for VIP(visually impaired person) in student buildings can be differently approached with electronic devices; (2) the best demonstration of UD in student buildings can be seen in spacious flat pathway, easy access through ramp and wide entry area, necessary for people in wheel-chairs, but used by all, implying an increase of the ratio of public space; (3) one of the good UD features is an attractive physical environment rather than institutional appearance, in which they ultimately will support and completely adaptable at optimal levels by everyone; (4) consistent maintenance and management maximize the potential of UD principles and minimize physical limitations.

        Análisis comparativo de las fricativas entre el español, el inglés y el coreano

        En este trabajo se va a averiguar lo que sucede en la realización fonética de las fricativas del español por medio de la comparación del español, el inglés y el coreano, puesto que para cada idioma los fonemas fricativos son muy distintos y causan muchas dificultades a los estudiantes coreanos de español al pronunciar los sonidos tales como [θ, S, , x, β, δ, γ]. Por lo tanto este trabajo trata de explicar cómo y por qué interfieren los hábitos articulatorios de la lengua materna en el aprendizaje de la lengua española, mediante el análisis auditivo y articulatorio. Para ello hemos comparado el sistema fonético y fonológico de español, coreano e inglés, como método de predicción de errores. Podríamos predecir los errores de producción en español(L2), a partir de los elementos ausentes en el inventario del coreano(L1) que se encuentran en el español <[f], [θ]>. Y también podríamos predecir las equivalencias a partir de los elementos ausentes en el inventario de L2 que se encuentran en L1 <[sʻ](ㅆ), [h](ㅎ), [ɦ](ㅎ)>. Los sonidos [β], [δ], [γ], [s] y [x] son los elementos, totalmente o parcialmente comunes al español y al coreano, y naturalmente ejercerán la transferencia positiva. En cambio, los sonidos [f] y [θ] son los elementos inexistentes en coreano, y ejercerán la transferencia negativa.

        都心部 龍山軍移積地의 地域 象徵性을 고려한 都市建築 方向設定에 관한 연구

        Historically Yongsan area of Seoul has been the center of military uses, even though most of them occupied by foreign forces. Since the MOA(Memorandum of agreement) regarding the relocation of U.S. Army base has been accorded by Korean and U.S. government in 1990, the appropriate development of the area in accordance with moving out of military facilities has been hot issue in recent years. Moreover, building construction of War Museum, Yongsan Family park, and National Central Museum without long-term mater plan raised more confuse for the adequate development goals and objectives. Therefore, the main purpose of the study intended to analyse current problems and opportunities for improving local identity and proper urban function and to propose the most desirable development directions for Yongsan military base. The research found that new development in relation with thema park needed to comply with existing historically significant structures for the preservation of local tradition and cultural assets, and that efficient circulation of automobiles and pedestrians had potential of easy accessibility from other areas Moreover, concept of green networks around the area, harmonious urban skyline, eco-park, cultural public open space were explored for sustainable development and friendly environment.

        Uruguáy or Urúguay?

        Won - pil Kim. 2002. Urug uáy or Urú g uay ? S tud ies in M od e rn Grammar 27, 179 - 196 . While in English the letter y can operate not only as a semi- vowel or a semi- consonant - day, stay, y es, y oung - but as a whole vowel - my, cry, study, every, p sy chology - , in Spanish it functions, in some cases, as a semi- consonant at the initial position of a syllable or a word - yo, leyó, leyeron, leyendo- , and in others as a fricative palatal consonant at the same position - y eg ua, cónyug e- . But in the case that the y is positoned after a vowel, as in the toponym 'Uruguay ' , it is pronounced in Spanish as [urugwái]. Therefore we are likely to define it as a consonant, because the Real Academia Española determines it as oxytone, when a word ends in a consonant except n and s . But this is not acceptable because the y is not allowed as a fricative consonant after a vowel. When treating the last syllable as a set of vowels, that is, a triphthong, it is not acceptable either, due to the discrepancy with the Spanish accent rules. Therefore we now suppose that the final vowel y constitutes a separate vowel as the result of 'hiatus ' , regarding that there exists, in Italian and Portuguese, a general tendency of syllabification of the high and weak vowel / i/ , as in 'Uruguai' , and that 'Uruguay ' is a loanword from the Indian language where the vowel y formed a sememe ('river ' ). In addition to this ethymological aspect we must take account of the psychological aspect . Who are very accustomed to Spanish tend to accommodate to the paroxytone, the general tendency of Spanish, especially for the words that are composed of any morphological and semantical elements at the word- final position, as in habláis, estudiáis .
