Metallurgical remains such as crucible, mould, slag and tuyere are generated in the production of bronze. The analysis of slag in particular can be used to identify the raw materials, processes and environments (temperature and condition) employed in the bronze fabrication . The Gwanbuk-ri site in Buyeo is known as the location of a royal palace during the Baekje period, in the 6-7th centuries, and crucible fragments and slags used to make bronze were excavated there. The purpose of this study is to understand the process of bronze production and the origin of the raw ores used in the Baekje period, through micro-structure and microchemical analyses. Using chemical analysis and observation of the microstructure of the crucible and slag samples, we identified evidence of the bronze alloying and melting conditions. The melting process would have taken place under a variable redox atmosphere at 1,100 oC. Cu-Sn-Pb ternary bronze might have been produced by alloying Cu-Sn metal with lead ore (galena) in the Baekje period. The lead isotope composition ratios of 2 bronze slags were located in zone 2 and zone 3 of the lead isotope map in the southern Korean peninsula, which indicates the use of galena from south Chungcheong and north Gyeongsan provinces. For efficiency and costeffectiveness, a concentrate of lead ore might have been transported from the mine to the consumer site.
지체장애 부모를 가진 비장애 자녀의 경험에 대한 연구 - 청년기 자녀를 중심으로

본 연구는 지체장애 부모에게서 자란 비장애 자녀의 경험을 이해하고자 시행되었다. 그들이 자라면서 어떤 환경 속에서, 어떤 경험을 하고, 또한 그러한 현실을 어떻게 극복해 나갈 수 있었는지에 대해 관심을 가졌다. 이를 위해 지체장애 부모에게서 자란 18세 이상의 비장애 자녀 8명에 대해 인터뷰를 실시하였고, 인터뷰한 내용을 전사하여 현상학 방법으로 분석을 시도 하였다. 그 결과 비장애 자녀들도 장애인만큼이나 여러 편견들 속에서 다름의 고통을 겪고 있는 것이 확인되었다. 그러나 삶의 다른 기준을 확인하고, 부모와 주변의 지지가 있을 때, 그리고 그들이 자신의 상황에 개방적일 때, 이러한 고통은 극복될 수 있었다. 다만, 지속되는 장애부모에 대한 부양과 사회적 편견은 여전히 그들로 하여금 사회적 장애를 경험하게 만드는 요소였다. This study is to explore the life experience of non-disabled children raised by Parents with Physical disability. For this purpose, we have an interview with adult children with physical disabled parents. The analytic results of interview data show that non-disabled children suffers form social prejudice on disability as disabled people does. However, they were able to overcome their painful situation by finding the different life criteria, getting the support of their parents and other people around, and opening up their situation. But, the continued caregiving burden and social prejudice are the elements to make them uncomfortable.
Trichostatin A Protects Liver against Septic Injury through Inhibiting Toll-Like Receptor Signaling

Sepsis, a serious clinical problem, is characterized by a systemic inflammatory response to infection and leads to organ failure. Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling is intimately implicated in hyper-inflammatory responses and tissue injury during sepsis. Histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors have been reported to exhibit anti-inflammatory properties. The aim of this study was to investigate the hepatoprotective mechanisms of trichostatin A (TSA), a HDAC inhibitor, associated with TLR signaling pathway during sepsis. The anti-inflammatory properties of TSA were assayed in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. Polymicrobial sepsis was induced in mice by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP), a clinically relevant model of sepsis. The mice were intraperitoneally received TSA (1, 2 or 5 mg/kg) 30 min before CLP. The serum and liver samples were collected 6 and 24-h after CLP. TSA inhibited the increased production of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and interleukin (IL)-6 in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. TSA improved sepsis-induced mortality, attenuated liver injury and decreased serum TNF-α and IL-6 levels. CLP increased the levels of TLR4, TLR2 and myeloid differentiation primary response protein 88 (MyD88) protein expression and association of MyD88 with TLR4 and TLR2, which were attenuated by TSA. CLP increased nuclear translocation of nuclear factor kappa B and decreased cytosolic inhibitor of kappa B (IκB) protein expression, which were attenuated by TSA. Moreover, CLP decreased acetylation of IκB kinase (IKK) and increased association of IKK with IκB and TSA attenuated these alterations. Our findings suggest that TSA attenuates liver injury by inhibiting TLR-mediated inflammatory response during sepsis.
