최근 숲길에 대한 수요가 증가함에 따라 전국적으로 많은 숲길이 계획·조성되고 있으나 그에 따른 기준 및 관리 지침의 부재로 인해 문제점으로 대두되고 있는 실정이다. 이에 많은 국외 사례를 통하여 국내 숲길의 유형과 적정규격을 구분해 보았다. 국내 숲길의 유형을 규모나 관리 형태에 따라 구분하는 것이 바람직하다고 판단되어 그 유형을 국가 숲길(national trail), 광역 숲길 (provincial trail), 지역 숲길(local trail)로 나누었다. 국가 숲길은 전국 규모의 장거리 숲길로서 그 규모는 백두대간 구간 DMZ 구간, 국립공원 등 그 상징적 가치가 크고 역사·문화적으로 국가 단위의 관리와 운영이 필요한 구간으로 정하며, 광역 숲길은 광역 단위를 대상으로 조성된 숲길로 백두대간 체계의 정맥, 지역 단위 문화재 및 도립공원 등 의 구성요소를 포함하고 있어야 하는 숲길, 그리고 지역 숲길은 행정구역 단위의 비교적 작은 규모의 숲길(일반적으로 노선길이 5~20km)을 말하며, 대상은 백두대간 체계의 지맥이나 지역의 주요 산을 중심으로 하거나, 지역의 향토문화, 주요 경관우수지역을 중심으로 구성된다. Due to the increased demand for trails, many trails recently have been planned and organized nationwide. But there are many problems issued due to the absence of standards and management guidelines of the domestic trail. We classified domestic trails into the types and proper standard trail through the oversea practice instances. For the trail standards we considered the classification into size and management form. For that reason, we classified types into the national trail, provincial trail, and local trail. The national trail which is the Baekdudaegan and DMZ region, national park having huge symbolic value need the management of national unit in history and culture. The provincial trail which include the big branch of Baekdudaegan and the cultural property should be included as a component of the regional and provincial park. The local trail which is a relatively small trail (generally distance 5~20km) of the administrative unit composed of the branch of Baekdudaegan and main mountain of local area, superb natural landscape area and native culture of local area.
