        Ultrastructural Localization of ZnT3 and Zinc Ions in the Mouse Choroid Plexus

        We have detected the murine zinc transporter, ZnT3, and zinc ions in the mouse choroid plexus by immunocytochemistry (ICC) and zinc selenium autometallography ($ZnSe^{AMG}$), respectively. BALB/c mice served as experimental animals. Routine floating ABC immunocytochemical procedures were used for the ZnT3 immunocytochemistry, and the mice were injected intraperitoneally (i.p.) with sodium selenide (10 mg/kg) for the zinc selenium autometallography. The choroid plexus showed weak immunoreactivity (Ir) for ZnT3. At high magnification, ZnT3-Ir was seen to be located in the choroid epithelium and the connective tissue of the capillaries. At the EM level, a high electron density of ZnT3-immunoreactivity was restricted to vesicle membranes as well as microvilli in the apical membrane. In contrast, immunostaining of ZnT3 was completely absent in the basolateral plasma membrane and other cell organelles. After silver enhancement, fine $ZnSe^{AMG}$ grains were observed in both the epithelial and endothelial cells of the choroid plexus. Few $ZnSe^{AMG}$ grains present in the cell bodies of the choroid epithelial cells were located in multivesicular bodies. It is striking that very many $ZnSe^{AMG}$ grains were observed in the endothelial cells of the capillaries. These findings establish the choroid plexus as a non-neuronal pool of zinc ions in the brain, although the functional significance of this pool is not clear. The choroid epithelium, however, may play an important role in the transportation of zinc between the CSF and brain tissue. 본 연구는 BALB/c 생쥐 맥악얼기내 ZnT3 및 zinc 이온을 ZnT3 항혈청을 이용한 면역세포화학법(ABC법)과 autometallography ($ZnSe^{AMG}$)로 각각 동정하였다. 저배율에서 맥락얼기내 ZnT3 면역반응은 미약하였으나, 고배율에서는 맥락상피와 맥락조직에 국한된 뚜렷한 면역반응이 관찰되었다. 전자현미경에서 관찰된 ZnT3 면역반응은 주로 맥락상피의 자유면쪽 미세융모 및 막성 소기관에 국한되었던 반면 맥락조직내 모세혈관의 내피세포에서는 면역반응이 전혀 관찰되지 않았다. AMG 염색결과 맥락상피와 맥락조직에서 강한 AMG 과립이 관찰되었으며, 특히 모세혈관의 내피상피에서 가장 많이 AMG 과립이 분포하고 있었다. 맥락상피내 AMG 과립은 주로 다소포체에서 관찰되었으며, 소수는 특정 세포질소기관과 상관없이 사이토졸에 산재해 있었다. 이러한 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 저자들은 맥락얼기가 일종의 zinc pool의 역할이 있을 것이며, 최소한 뇌척수액과 뇌실질간에 zinc의 이동에 중요한 역할을 담당할 것으로 믿는다.

        신경망과 전이학습 기반 표면 결함 분류에 관한 연구

        In this paper, a method for improving the defect classification performance in low contrast, ununiformity and featureless steel plate surfaces has been studied based on deep convolution neural network and transfer-learning neural network. The steel plate surface images have low contrast, ununiformity, and featureless, so that the contrast between defect and defect-free regions are not discriminated. These characteristics make it difficult to extract the feature of the surface defect image. A classifier based on a deep convolution neural network is constructed to extract features automatically for effective classification of images with these characteristics. As results of the experiment, AlexNet-based transfer-learning classifier showed excellent classification performance of 99.43% with less than 160 seconds of training time. The proposed classification system showed excellent classification performance for low contrast, ununiformity, and featureless surface images.

        성인에서 눈꺼풀속말림과 눈꺼풀겉말림 환자에서 발생원인과 치료방법에 대한 분석

        <b>Purpose:</b> To evaluate the causes and treatments of entropion and ectropion in adults. <b>Methods:</b> A retrospective review was performed of 397 patients (490 eyes) with entropion and 109 patients (138 eyes) with ectropion who underwent corrective surgery at Kim's Eye Hospital from January 2009 to December 2012. <b>Results:</b> The surgical correction of entropion was 3.5 times greater than that of ectropion. The causes of entropion were classified as senile (98.4%), cicatricial (1.4%) and spastic (0.2%). The causes of ectropion were classified as cicatricial (60.1%), paralytic (23.2%) and senile (16.7%). <b>Conclusions:</b> The main causes of entropion and ectropion were senile and cicatricial, respectively. Specifically, senile entropion was more common than senile ectropion, which is considered to be related to the lid anatomy of Asian patients. J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2014;55(7):953-957

        퇴행성 아래눈꺼풀속말림의 치료에 있어 퀴커트 봉합술의 효과

        Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of the Quickert-Rathbun suture to correct involutional entropion. Methods: A retrospective review was performed of 132 consecutive patients (132 lids, male 58, female 74) with involutional entropion who underwent correction from September 2001 to June 2004 at Kim`s eye hospital. All surgical corrections were performed with the Quickert-Rathbun suture technique. The average follow-up period was 9 months (1~17 months). Results: The average length of follow-up time was 14 months (6~22 months). There were no long-term complications like lagophthalmos or ectropion. Surgery was successful in 102 (77.2%) of the 132 eyelids in the first Quickert-Rathbun suture. The second Quickert-Rathbun suture was performed to 17 out of 30 recurred patients, One of whom was noted to have recurrent entropion at 12 months. The final success rate of Quickert-Rathbun suture was 89.3%. The average length of recurrence time was 9.1±8.4 months. Conclusions: The Quickert-Rathbun suture described is simple, straightforward and reliable for the correction of involutional entropion primarily.

        척수신경 결찰에 따른 랫드 척수 회색질내 zinc의 감소와 통증의 연관성

        본 연구는 잘 알려진 통증모델을 대상으로 척수 회색질내 zinc 이온(Zn2±)의 변화량을 조직화학법(autometallography, AMG)으로 정량화함으로써 통증의 발달, 유지 및 회복과정에서 Zn2±와의 연관성이 있는지를 규명하고자 하였다. 10 주령된 Sprague-Dawley 계통의 랫드를 실험동물로 사용하였고, pentobarbital (50 mg/kg)로 마취상태에서 다섯 번째 허리쪽 척수신경(L5)을 결찰한 후 5일 및 10일 실험군으로 나누었다. 각 실험군의 동물은 통증모델 시술후 해당 시간에 이르러 selenium (20 mg/kg)을 복강내 주사하고 1시간 후에 관류고정시킴으로써 동물을 희생시켰다. 척수의 L4, 5, 6 분절을 구분하여 절취한 후, freezing microtome위에서 30 μm 두께의 횡단 척수절편을 작성하였다. 척수절편내 Zn2±을 동정하기 위해 Danscher(1981)의 AMG로 염색을 시행하였고, 광학현미경하에서 그 변화량을 측정하였다. 대조군에서 랫드 척수 회색질내 Zn2±의 분포는 등쪽 회색질내에 높은 농도로 분포하였으며, 이곳에서 층판구조를 보였다. 실험군에서는 척수신경을 결찰한 쪽에서 Zn2±가 유의한 수준으로 감소되었으며, 특히 통증전달과 관계가 깊은 등쪽 회색질의 표층 (Rexed’s laminae III, IV)에서의 감소가 뚜렸하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 통증과 척수 회색질내 Zn2±의 변화와 밀접한 관련이 있음을 시사하며, 향후 통증의 복잡한 병리기전을 이해하는데 중요한 단서를 제공하는 계기가 되었다. This study was designed to investigate any correlation between the mechanism of pain development and changes of histochemically-reactive zinc contents in the rat spinal cords following peripheal nerve ligation. Male Sprague-Dawley rats (270~290 g) were used for this study. We ligated a left-sided lumbar spinal nerve with silk under anesthesia using pentobarbital (50 mg/kg). Semmes-Weinstein monofilaments (Stoelting Company, Wood Dale, IL) was used to test for mechanical hyperalgesia. 30 μm-thick spinal cord cryosections were stained by autometallography (Danscher, 1981). The density of zinc was significantly decreased in zinc concentration in the dorsal horn of 4th, 5th and 6th lumbar segments at 5 and 10 days after the spinal nerve ligation. Here, zinc depletion was apparent in superficial gray matter, especially layer III-IV. In addition the nerve ligated rats showed lower pain threshold. This increased pain sensation might be related with lowered vesicular zinc level in the superficial gray matter in the spinal cord. The present findings offer a proposed link between zinc and pain. Our interpretation is that there may be an extension of fine primary afferent fibers into lamina III and possibly lamina IV following peripheral nerve ligation. If further work bears out this conclusion, this would provide a possible explanation for the chronic pain states that sometimes follow peripheral nerve damage.

        임신 1 삼분기중 Nuchal Translucency 와 free β-hCG , PPP -A 를 이용한 염색체 이상진단의 선별검사로서의 유용성

        N/A Objectives: The aim of this study is to determine the efficacy of nuchal translucency in combination with free β-hCG, PAPP-A in the first trimester screening for chromosomal anomaly in general population. Methods: Between April 1998 and December 1999, we evaluated 263 pregnant women undergoing first trimester screening test for fetal chromosomal anomaly using nuchal translucency combined with free β -hCG, PAPP-A. We confirmed the pregnancy outcomes through chorionic villi sampling, amniocentesis or term delivery. We excluded 15 pregnant women because of their obscure pregnancy outcomes. Statistical analysis w; considered significant when P value was lower than 0.05. Results: With a risk cut-off of 1 in 400, 24 pregnancies(9.7%) of 248 cases were screen positive and 224 pregnancies(90.3%) were screen negative. 2 cases of Down syndrome and 1 case of Tumer syndrome were detected in screen positive group. No chromosomal anomalies were detected in screen negative group. Conclusion: In this study, 8.57% of false positive rate and 12.5% of positive predictive value were obtained in the first trimester screening for chromosomal anomaly using nuchal translucency and serum markers.

      • 뉴타운사업이 주민에게 미치는 영향과 저감방안에 대한 제언

        뉴타운사업은 도시기반시설의 부족 문제를 개선하고 계획적 개발을 유도하기 위한 ‘기성 시가지 재개발방식’이다. 개발사업은 사업방식에 관계없이 사업진행과정에서 나타나는 다양한 문제나 갈등으로 인해 기존 주민들에게 직‧간접적인 영향을 미치게 된다. 이러한 문제나 갈등의 양상은 사업초기에는 뉴타운사업 자체에 대한 반대, 사업방식 합의과정의 갈등, 그리고 개발계획의 수정 등으로 나타나며, 사업 진행과정에서는 보상이나 분양권 등의 문제를 둘러싼 주민과 사업주체와의 갈등, 주민내부간의 갈등으로 표면화되고 있다. 이러한 갈등은 주민참여 기회의 제한, 다양한 계층에 대한 대책 부재, 공식적 주민대표조직의 부재 등에 기인하며, 주민대책위의 난립으로 인해 주민내부 갈등이 심화되고 있다. 이상의 부정적 주민영향을 최소화하기 위해서는 주민참여 절차의 개선, 주거빈 곤층에 대한 주거권 보장, 자세한 주민조사 등이 이루어져야 할 것이다. “New town program” in Seoul is an urban redevelopment method to solve the shortage of urban infrastructure and so lead to planned development Development projects give direct and indirect influences on the residents with the conflicts and problems in development process. This problems and conflicts are presented as the opposition to the development, conflict on the development method, and the revision of development plan in the early stage. And in actual development process, these are presented as the conflict on the compensation and the right to buy homes between residents and developer These conflicts result from the limit to the residents' participation, the lack of counterplan for the various kinds of classes, and the lack of residents' representitive organizations To minimize the negative influence on the residents, the improvement of paticipation process should be improved, the housing right for the poors should be guranteed, and the investigation of the residents in the planning stage should be considered.

        웨이블릿 합성 영상 및 엔트로피 기반 판별함수를 이용한 철강 후판 검사의 최적 조명메커니즘

        Demand for both quality steel-plate products and the quality inspection of steel plates is increasing. In order to guarantee the quality of steel plates, consistent automatic inspection is required, but there is a lack of research on illumination mechanisms for automatic inspection. The steel plate has low contrast, non uniformity, and featureless. To configure an illumination mechanism to cope with this problem, a discrete wavelet transform is used to decompose the image into multiple resolution regions to improve the contrast of the image and highlight features. In order to select the optimum illumination mechanism, the discriminant measure applying the entropy function is applied to the numerical analysis of the regions. The experimental results show that the BI&CIW illumination mechanism exhibits the highest discrimination, so BI&CIW is selected as the optimum illumination mechanism.
