        제인 오스틴의 『설득』다시 읽기

        김선희 미래영어영문학회 2010 영어영문학 Vol.15 No.2

A new English or British nationalism emerges in the war with revolutionary France in 1790s and 1810s. Austen writes Persuasion at a moment in which the bureaucratic age is coming. However, the trends towards greater national cohesion and uniformity are bound to strengthen the control and hegemony of Britain's ruling class. Criticizing aristocratic communities, Austen offers the navy as an alternate to create social and national cohesion. And she suggests that no individual and no single author can imagine the nation in which he or she lives, because for her the nation has no content. She offers a new form of nation that operates through state agencies like the British navy because England from the 1790s was a jittery nation and the English do have a regional identity of their own during the Napoleonic wars. Therefore, Austen argues that the navy better fulfills the duties and obligations that aristocracy neglect, and suggests administrative agencies such as the British navy define individuals' obligations to the nation as a whole and causes them their nationality. Austen shows a larger social change in marrying her heroine Anne into Captain Wentworth of the Royal navy in Persuasion. She also shows that the wives of the naval officers as members of the organization of the navy, and emphasizes that women experience nationality in a familiar context because the national and the domestic are inextricably fused. As Austen's famous description of Anne's "alarm" as a "tax" shows, Anne realizes that she belongs to a nation that may make demands on her. Furthermore, Austen argues the administrative structure like the navy provides a foundational core for communal national life. Finally, Austen guarantees the navy's very "national importance" in British society. And I read Austen's emphasis of the navy's administrative structure one register of her claims for the reforms to create social and national cohesion.

        『滄浪詩話』의 ‘識’과 ‘別材·別趣’ 小考

김선희 한국중국언어문화연구회 2009 한중언어문화연구 Vol.- No.19

『Chang Rang Si Hwa (滄浪詩話)』 : an essay on poetry composed by Um Woo (嚴羽) in end of the Song Dynasty made a huge repercussion in the history of poetics in China. Through the work, Um Woo intended to reflect and criticize the literary men's trends of those days; which were ignoring the nature of poetry being bound by Jeong Go (典故) : an authentic precedent and Su Sa (修辭) : a figure of speech. In this study, I researched the poems created by Lee Baek (李白) and Du Bo (杜甫) in consideration of 'Sik (識)' and 'Byeol Jae · Byeol Chwi (別材·別趣)': knowledge or understanding and special quality · special style, respectively, of which concepts Um Woo presented in 『Chang Rang Si Hwa (滄浪詩話)』 · 「Si Byeon (詩辨)」. What Um Woo presented in the section of 「Si Byeon (詩辨)」 can be summarized to two opinions. First, he told that the nature of gusto of poetry was ‘Si Do Jae Myo Oh (詩道在妙悟)’ : the principles of writing a poem lie in being enlighten, and embodied it as 'I Seon Yu Si (以禪喩詩)': learning poetry through Zen, in which Zen (禪) and literature were inter-related. Second, he insisted the state of being enlighten (妙悟) about creating poetry (詩作) could be learned though the methods of 'Sik (識)' and 'Byeol Jae · Byeol Chwi (別材·別趣)' and worshipped Seong Dang Si (盛唐詩) : a style of poetry creation in Tang period. He considered Li Baek and Du Bo among High-Tang Poets as those poets who had perfectly mastered creating poetry. Um Woo tried to explain the nature of poetry by analyzing both Li Baek and Dubo, and insisted that their poems should be studied as then people learned Confucian classics in the sections of 「Si Pyeong (詩評)」 and 「Go Jeung (考證)」: poetry review and historical research, respectively. Criticizing the study trend to focus on, simply, the words and phrases (字句) and authentic precedents (典故), he emphasized the importance of appreciating the nature of poetry by presenting the concepts of 'Sik (識)' and 'Byeol Jae · Byeol Chui (別材·別趣)' in the poems of Li Baek and Du Bo. He lay stress on the importance of acquiring the nature of poetry by accumulating one's abilities to discern and judge, and, eventually, intended to explain the superb state of 'Oen Wae Ji Ui (言外之意)’ : meanings which lie beyond what's been told, through which a poet could naturally express in his poems without being bound by the knowledge existing inside of the poet.

        김선희,최종백,김상찬,Kim, Sun-Hee,Choi, Jong-Baek,Kim, Sang-Chan 대한한의학방제학회 1997 大韓韓醫學方劑學會誌 Vol.5 No.1

This study was aimed to investigate the anti-tumor and immune response effect of Samyongtang(S1; this medicine represents for 'ENERGIZER'), Yangjeongjejeoktang(S2; this is the 'INTERMEDIATE METHOD' of S1 and S3) and Onbeakwon(S3; this is 'ATTACK' the disease of mass) on the experimental rats induced by Sarcoma-180 and Methotrexate. And to observed the differences S1, S2, and S3 treatment groups. Tumor weight(TW) in vivo, interleukin-2(IL-2), hemagglutinin titer(H.A), hemolysin titer(HL), rossete forming cell(RFC), delayed type hypersensitivity(DTH), and natural killer cell activity(NKCA) in vivo were measured in rats. The obtained results were summarized as follows. 1. Tumor weight was decreased in all treatment groups (S2>S3>S1) as compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant each treatment groups. 2. Interleukin-2 was increased in all treatment groups (S1>S2>Ss) as compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant each treatment groups. 3. Hemagglutinin titer was increased in all treatment groups (S1>S2>S3) as compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant each treatment groups. 4. Hemolysin titer was increased in all treatment groups (S1>S2>S3) as compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant each treatment groups. 5. Rossete forming cell(RFC) was increased in all treatment groups (S1>S2>S3) as compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant each treatment groups. 6. Delayed type hyperseneitivity(DTH) was increased in S1, S2 treatment groups (S1>S2) as compared with control group, but it was decreased in S3 treatment group. Therefore, S1 group was statistically significant compared with S3 groups. 7. Natural killer cell activity(NKCA) was increased in all treatment groups (S2>S3>S1) as compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant each treatment groups. Based on the above mentioned results, it is suggested that S1, S2 and S3 will have anti-tumor substances and enhance effect of immune response. But the differences were not statistically significant in each treatment groups, except for delayed type hypersensitivity.

The Effects of a Fluid Intake Intervention for Elders in Long-term Care Hospitals

김선희,이명하,강정희,정석희 기초간호학회 2012 Journal of korean biological nursing science Vol.14 No.2

Purpose: This study was done to evaluate the effects of a fluid intake intervention on increasing fluid intake and ameliorating dehydration status in elders admitted to long-term care hospitals. Methods: A nonequivalent control group, pretest and posttest design was used. The experimental group of 39 participants received the 4-week intervention while the control group of 38 participants received routine care. Outcome variables were daily fluid intake and physiological indexes such as blood urea nitrogen and creatinine ratio (BUN/Cr), urine specific gravity (USG), and urine color. Results: After the intervention to increase fluid intake, there were statistically significant increases in daily fluid intake, normal BUN/Cr, and USG in the experimental group. However, a statistically significant improvement in normal urine color was not found for either group. Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrated that the fluid intake intervention improved hydration status of the experimental group participants. Consequently, it was confirmed that the intervention is considered to be effective in preventing dehydration which occurs frequently in older adults in long-term care facilities and, thus this intervention may contribute to preventing various health issues resulting from dehydration.

Choe Hangi’s Gihak: Universal Science and the Fusion of Eastern and Western Knowledge

김선희 한국학중앙연구원 한국학중앙연구원 2023 THE REVIEW OF KOREAN STUDIES Vol.26 No.1

Choe Hangi, a 19th-century Korean scholar, established an original field of scholarship called gihak, or qi-study which goes beyond the boundaries of the Confucian and Neo-Confucian intellectual foundation of that time. In his study, he used as important intellectual resources Western Learning taken from books translated into Chinese by European missionaries who aimed to propagate Christianity in China. The Western scientific knowledge in those books led him to develop a unique paradigm of thought. This paper focuses on the purpose and effect of his adoption of Western scientific knowledge, rather than his perspective or the particulars of the Western science introduced to his study. The proposition that his gihak should be defined as a meta-discourse and universal science is instrumental in order to expound the implications and purpose of his adoption of Western knowledge. This notion will frame Western science as the sub-disciplinary scholarship constituting the details of the universal framework presented in his gihak. Choe perceives the movement and action of qi as the essence of the world. With an eye towards establishing gihak as a universal science, he used his knowledge of Western learning to prove that the movement and action of qi can be used to interpret the nature and purpose of universe and all living things including humans. This paper will explain the characteristics of gihak as universal science, examine the three layers of scope in his study, and a shift in human understanding. Through this, his intention to address the problems of the time, communicate with the world, and pursue peace through the fusion of Eastern and Western knowledge will be demonstrated.
