        Shih-tzu견에서 혈장 progesterone과 estradiol-17β 농도 측정에 의한 배란시기 및 교배적기의 추정

        The aim of this study was to estimate the time of ovulation and mating derived by plasma progesterone and estradiol-17b concentrations. The 11 pregnant Shih-tzu bitches were investigated the plasma progesterone and estradiol-17b concentrations from proestrus to parturition. Gestation length in the 11 pregnant bitches was 61.9± 1.1 (mean±SD) days when Day 0 was timed from the day that plasma progesterone concentration was first increased above 4.0ng/ml. The litter size was 3.8±0.3 pups. Plasma progesterone concentrations were increased at the first day of vulvar bleeding and showed at Day 0 with 5.2±0.3ng/ml. It was gradually increased to reach a peak at Day 15 with 42.6±3.7ng/ml, thereafter it was gradually decreased to below Day 62. Plasma estradiol-17b concentrations were increased above 1.0pg/ml at the first day of vulvar bleeding and showed a peak at Day -2 with 33.5±8.0pg/ml, thereafter it was gradually decreased. When Day 0 was timed from the day that plasma progesterone concentration was first increased above 4.0ng/ml, plasma estradiol-17b concentration reached a peak at Day -2. In conclusion, these results indicated that ovulation was estimated to occur the day when plasma progesterone concentration was first increased above 4.0ng/ml after the first day of bleeding. It was estimated that mating time was the day when plasma progesterone concentration was between 3.0~8.0ng/ml.

        Shih-tzu견에서 초음파 검사에 의한 분만일 예시표 확립

        To establish a prediction table of parturition day real-time B-mode ultrasonographic examinations were performed in 12 pregnant Shih-tzu bitches. Measurement of inner chorionic cavity diameter and fetal head diameter was performed from 15 days of gestation to parturition. These were converted retrospectively based on the day of parturition (Day 0). The data of inner chorionic cavity diameter obtained from Day -44 to Day -25 and fetal head diameter obtained from Day -25 to Day -1 were used to compile a prediction table of parturition day. The 22 pregnant Shih-tzu with unknown mating time were examined to assess an accuracy of the table established in this study. And these results were applied to the prediction of parturition day and compared to actual parturition day. Parturition day prediction based on the inner chorionic cavity diameter and fetal head diameter was 100% accurate within ${\pm}2$ days. In addition, the accuracy for parturition day within 0, ${\pm}1$, and ${\pm}2$ days interval using the prediction table of parturition day were 68, 82, and 100%, respectively. Therefore, the prediction table of parturition day seems to be a useful tool for the prediction of parturition day in practice.

        Shih-tzu자견에서 머리둘레, 눈의 변화 및 유치의 맹출 시기의 변화상

        The purpose of this study was to document the development of head circumferences, changes of the eyes,and the time of eruption of deciduous teeth in Shih-tzu dogs. In 12 pups of 4 Shih-tzu bitches, the development ofhead circumferences were estimated from whelping day (Day 0) to 41 days after birth, and the changes of the eyesand the time of eruption of deciduous teeth were estimated from whelping day to 45 days. The head circumferenceswere 11.24. 0.67 (mean. S.D) cm in Day 0 and 19.87. 1.42 cm in Day 41 and the daily increased length was 0.22. 0.08 cm, respectively. The changes of the eyes were determined the first and the completely opening time of eyes.The first and completely opening time of the eyes in pups Day 10.75. 0.97 (range: 9.50~13.00) and Day 13.17.1.27 (11.50~15.33), respectively. In the time of deciduous teeth eruption in Shih-tzu, the first day of eruption wasstarted in Day 35.90. The rank of deciduous teeth eruption was C1, C1, P3, I3, I2, P4, I1 and P2, respectively.

        Estimation of Gestational Age by Measurement of Fetal and Extra-fetal Structures in Miniature Schnauzer Bitches

        Serial ultrasonographic examinations were performed on 9 Miniature Schnauzer bitches from day 15 of gestation until parturition to determine the ultrasonographic measurement of gestational structures. Ovulation was designated the day that plasma progesterone concentration exceeded 4.0 ng/ml (day 0). Extra-fetal structures were measured from day 17 or 18 to 60. Outer uterine diameter (OUD) increased from 6.50 ± 1.06 mm (Mean ± SD) to 50.89 ± 5.62 mm, inner chorionic cavity diameter (ICCD) increased from 2.10 ± 0.15 mm to 37.15 ± 4.36 mm, and length of placenta (PL) increased from 7.50 ± 1.41 mm to 40.62 ± 3.27 mm. OUD and ICCD were significantly and linearly relative to gestational age especially through day 37, whereas PL was not significantly relative to gestational age. Of the extra-fetal structures, ICCD was the most accurate for estimation of gestational age before day 38 of gestation. Fetal structures increased at a linear rate to parturition. Fetal crown-rump length (CRL) increased from 2.55 ± 0.07 mm on day 22 to 85.25 ± 9.89 mm on day 48. Fetal head diameter (HD) increased from 3.43 ± 0.64 mm on day 27 to 25.06 ± 0.41 mm on day 63. Fetal body diameter (BD) increased from 5.96 ± 0.84 mm on day 30 to 43.76 ± 3.36 mm on day 63. Of the fetal structures, HD was the most accurate for estimation of gestational age after day 38 to parturition.

        Shih-tzu견에서 임신일령에 따른 임신구조물의 초음파상 II. 태아 및 태아외구조물의 측정에 의한 임신일려의 추정

        Serial ultrasonographic examination was daily performed on 12 pregnant Shih-tzu bitches from day 15 until parturition to determine the size of gestational structures. Gestational age was timed from the day of ovulation (day 0), which was estimated to occur when plasma progesterone concentration was first increased above 4.0 ng/ml. Extrafetal structures were measurable from days 17 to 46. Outer uterine diameter increased from 9.90.4 mm (MeanSD) at day 20 to 44.30.8 mm at day 46 and inner chorionic cavity diameter increased from 7.20.2 mm at day 17 to 36.91.5 mm at day 41. Length of chorionic cavity or zonary placenta increased from 6.60.4 mm at day 21 to 46.4 0.9 mm at day 44. Of the extra-fetal structures, inner chorionic cavity diameter was the most accurate for estimation of gestational age until day 38. Fetal structures were measurable from days 23 to 60. Crown-rump length increased from 3.90.3 mm at day 23 to 55.23.3 mm at day 41, fetal body diameter increased from 7.90.6 mm at day 32 to 47.82 mm at day 60, and fetal head diameter increased from 6.31.1 mm at day 29 to 25.60.2 mm at day 60. Of the fetal structures, fetal head diameter was the most accurate for estimation of gestational age from day 38 until day 60.

        PMSG와 hCG 병용 투여에 의한 Shih-tzu 견에서의 인공 발정 유기

        무발정기에 속한 Shih-tzu 견 9두를 대상으로 하여 PMSG(50IU/kg)를 10일 동안 매일 근육주사 후 마지막 10일째에 hCG(1,000IU/head)를 정맥 주사하여 인공적으로 발정을 유기 하였다. 실험견 9두 중 9두(100%)에서 발정 출혈, 회음부 반사, 외음부 종대 및 수컷 허용 등의 임상적인 발정 증상이 관찰되었으며 그중 5두(55.6%)가 임신하였고 4두는 임신되지 않았다(44.4%). 임신견 5두 중 3두(33.3%)가 자연분 This study was performed to induce the estrus in 9 anestrus Shih-tzu bitches by intramuscular injection of pregnant mare serum gonadotrophin (PMSG) 50IU/kg for 10 consecutive days and by intravenous injection of human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) 1,000IU/Head on Day 10. The day when the first injection of PMSG was counted as Day 0 of experiment. All of the bitches were monitored by vaginal discharges, displays the perineal region, vaginal swelling and male acceptances. The 9 bitches (100%) showed vaginal discharges and vaginal swelling, and were mated. The 5 bitches out of 9 bitches were pregnant (55.6%) and 4 bitches were non-pregnant (44.4%). The 3 bitches out of 5 pregnant bitches were spontaneously delivered (33.3%) and litter size were pups. The 2 bitches were diagnosed as early embryonic death on days 38 and 41 after first injection of PMSG. These results indicated that rates of estrus induction, pregnancy and delivery were 100%, 55.6% and 33.3%, respectively, using PMSG and hCG.

        Proxicam을 이용한 개의 방광 내 종괴 치료 1례

        A 7-year-old, female Shih-tzu dog with clinical signs of hematuria, oliguria, stranguria was brought to theVeterinary Teaching Hospital, Chonnam National University. Ultrasonography revealed the left hydroureter, hydro-nephrosis and urinary bladder mas (12.1 2.0 m). The dog was finally diagnosed as the secondary unilateralobstructive uropathy by urinary bladder mass. The treatment such as unilateral nephroureterectomy and chemotherapyusing piroxicam were performed to the dog. After 8 months of treatment, the polyp was not detected by ultrasonography.We concluded that urinary bladder mas was cured completely.

        Shih-tzu견에서 발정 주기 동안 질세포 검사 및 번식 호르몬 측정에 의한 교배 적기 및 배란 시기의 판정

        Shit-tzu견에서 발정 주기, 교배 적기 및 배란 시기를 정확하게 추정하기 위한 질 세포 검사를 확립하기 위하여 Shih-tzu 견 12두를 대상으로 발정 주기동안 질 세포 검사 및 estradiol-와 progesterone 농도를 측정하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 발정주기별 질 세포상의 특징적인 변화로서 발정 전기에는 무핵 세포와 적혈구, 발정기에는 표층 세포와 무핵 세포 및 적혈구가 주종을 이루는 세포였으며 발정 휴지기에는 소형 중간 세포와 Vaginal cytology was examined in 12 Shih-tzu bitches to establish the accurate basic data for estimate to the optimal mating time and ovulation time. The mean duration of proestrus and estrus were days and days in pregnant bitches. The gestational length in the 12 pregnant bitches was days in pregnant bitches when Day 0 was timed from the first day of male acceptance. Characteristic features of vaginal cytology during the estrous cycle were the high proportion of large intermediate cell, superficial cell, anuclear cell and erythrocyte in proestrus, superficial cell, anuclear cell and erythrocyte in estrus, and parabasal cell, small and large intermediate cell and leukocyte in diestrus, respectively. Cornification index (CI) was the high proportion in proestrus and estrus, then it decreased in diestrus and anestrus. When Day 0 was timed from the day of the first male acceptance, the CI peak was Day 2 and maintained above 80% between Day -4 and Day 6 during 11 days, and above 90% between Day -1 and Day 5 during 7 days. In relationship between CI and reproductive hormones, CI showed peak at the first day after plasma estradiol- concentration peak and plasma progesterone concentration was first increased above 4.0 ng/ml at Day 0 which was the first day after CI peak. In conclusion, ovulation in Shih-tzu bitches occurred at the first day after CI peak. Vaginal cytology is the simple and reliable method for estimating estrous cycle, optimal breeding time and ovulation time in Shih-tzu bitches.

        아토피 피부염 환자에서 12 주간의 심층 영양관리에 따른 식사의 질과 혈중 지방산조성 및 면역지표에 관한연구

        Atopic dermatitis (AD) is one of the major public health problem. It has been reported that the prevalence of AD in children and adults are 10-20% and 1-3%, respectively. Westernization of food habits, urbanization, and environmental pollution are contributing factors toward the recent rise in prevalence. Excessive dietary restriction leads to chronic malnutrition in atopic dermatitis patients. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of medical nutrition therapy (MNT) on quality of diet and blood immune parameters in atopic dermatitis patients. The 19 atopic dermatitis patients (7 men and 12 women) admitted to K University Medical Center were studied. During the 12 weeks of intervention, the subjects were given MNT by a dietitian for 30-45 minutes every other week. MNT was comprised with general dietary therapy, intake of balanced meals, emphasis on n-3 fatty acid contents in foods, and food allergies. Anthropometric and dietary assessment and blood analysis were taken at baseline and after 12 weeks of MNT. After 12 weeks of MNT, the subjects` dietary qualities, including dietary diversity score (DDS), meal balance score (MBS) and dietary variety score (DVS) were significantly increased (p < 0.05). According to significantly increased intake of EPA and DHA, dietary n-6/n-3 fatty acid ratio decreased to the recommended level for the atopic dermatitis patients (p < 0.05). These changes of dietary fatty acid consumption were reflected erythrocyte fatty acid composition. After 12 weeks of MNT, serum levels of IgE and IL-4 levels were significantly decreased, however, the levers of INF-γ, WBC, lymphocyte and TLC were not changed. As a conclusion, the individualized MNT improved the quality of diet in atopic dermatitis patients thereby influenced RBC fatty acid composition and IgE and IL-4 levels.
