There has been recent interest in intelligent vehicle technologies, such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADASs) or in-vehicle information systems (IVISs) that offer a significant enhancement of safety and convenience to drivers and passengers. However, unsuitable design of HMI(Human Machine nterface) must increase driver distraction and workload, which in turn increase the chance of traffic accidents. Distraction in particular often ocurs under a heavy driving workload due to multitasking with various electronic devices like a cell phone or a navigation system while driving. According to the 2005 road traffic accidents in Korea report published by the ROad Traffic Authority (ROTA) more than 60% of the traffic accidents are related to driver error caused by distraction. This paper suggests the implementation of vehicle environment to monitor driver and vehicle to reduce the driving workload which is can be used the advanced driver and vehicle management systems (ADVMS). On-road experiment results showed the feasibility of the suggested vehicle environment for driver and vehicle monitoring.
운전부하 추정을 위한 Driving Performance 특성 분석

There has been recent interest in intelligent vehicle technologies, such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADASs) or in-vehicle information systems (IVISs) that offer a significant enhancement of safety and convenience to drivers and passengers. However, the use of ADAS- and IVIS-based information devices may increase driver distraction and workload, which in turn increase the chance of traffic accidents. The number of traffic accidents involving drivers has increased due to distraction, misjudgment, and delayed detection of danger related to the drivers declining physical and cognitive capabilities. According to the 2005 Road traffic Accidents in Korea report published by the Road Traffic Authority (ROTA), more than 60% of the traffic accidents in Korea are related to driver error caused by distraction. This paper analyzes characteristic of the driving performance using driving simulator to estimate driving workload while driving. The analyzed results of the driving performance suggest that could play a key variable to estimate driving workload.

A windshield wiper system plays a key part in assurance of driver's safety. However, because the intensity of rain and snow varies according to time and the velocity of automobile, drivers need to change the speed and operation interval of the wiper from time to time in order to secure enough visual field in the traditional windshield wiper system. Because the manual operation of windshield wiper distracts driver's attention, this may be a significant cause of traffic accident. Therefore. this paper presents the concept of a vision-based smart windshield wiper system and the rain sensing algorithm for nighttime. The system regulates the speed and operation interval of windshield wiper automatically according to the amount of the rain drops on the windshield Also. this paper introduces the fuzzy wiper control algorithm and evaluates the performance of the suggested algorithm on a wiper simulator.<br/>
X-By-Wire 시스템을 위한 통신 프로토콜의 성능 평가

Today, many protocols have been developed to satisfy various requirements for automobile application. Especially, the X-By-Wire system is issued in automobile company, and protocols such as TTP, TTCAN, and Flex Ray have been developed by many automobile companies. However, because any protocol is not dominant in the market yet, it is very difficult to choice appropriate protocol for X-By-Wire system. Hence, this paper presents the performance evaluation of CAN and TTP via discrete event simulation to compare features of X-By-Wire protocols. Through numerous simulation experiments, several important performance indices such as the transmission failure rate, average system delay (data latency), and maximum system delay have been evaluated.
소프트웨어 복잡도 감소를 위한 노드 기반 FlexRay 스케줄링 기법 개발

As vehicles become intelligent for convenience and safety of drivers, in-vehicle networking (IVN) systems are essential components of intelligent vehicles. Recently, the chassis networking system which require increased network capacity and real-time capability is being developed to expand the application area of IVN systems. Also, FlexRay has been developed for the chassis networking system. However, FlexRay needs a complex scheduling method of static segment, which is a barrier for implementing the chassis networking system. Especially, if we want to migrate from CAN network to FlexRay network using CAN message database that was well constructed for the chassis networking system by automotive vendors, a novel scheduling method is necessary to be able to reduce design complexity. This paper presents a node-based scheduling method for the static segment, to reduce the software complexity in FlexRay network systems. To demonstrate the feasibility of the technique, its performance is evaluated in terms of various software complexity index.
홍삼추출액의 인간성체신경줄기세포 증식과 세포사 관련 세포주기의 변화에 대한 효과

홍삼추출액의 신경성체줄기세포 성장과 생존에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 human neuronal stem cell line인 F3 cell을 배양한 후 홍삼추출액을 여러 농도로 희석하여 MTT assay로 cell viability를 측정하였고 FACS analysis로 cell cycle변화를 측정하였다. 특정한 농도에서는 세포가 증식되는 경향을 보였으며 농도가 증가되면서 viability가 감소되는 현상을 확인할 수 있었다. Cell cycle분석상 세포증식시에는 S phase 및 G2/M phase가 증가되는 경향을 보였고, viability가 감소되면서 S phase가 감소되고 G0/G1 phase가 증가되었다. 한편 DNA fragmentation이 cell viability감소에 따라 증가되었으나, Caspase 3 activation 또는 Bax expression과는 관련성이 적었다. The present study is to determine whether the Red-ginseng extract has a proliferative or cytotoxic effect on the human neuronal stem cells(hNSCs). The hNSCs were grown and incubated with different doses of Red-ginseng extract. We tested the proliferative or cytotoxic effects by MTT and FACS analysis. Cell viability, cell cycle analysis, DNA fragmentation, and bax or PARP expressions were evaluated. The hNSCs showed a proliferatve trend with its peak concentration at 0.3㎍/㎖. Beyond this point, higher doses decreased viabilities and showed a cytotoxic effect at 10㎍/㎖. There was a tendency of increased S and G2/M phases during cell proliferation. In a cytotoxic condition, decreased S phase and increased G0/G1 phases were noted, suggesting cell cycle arrest. The cytotoxic effect was associated with increase DNA fragmentation in a dose-dependent manner. However, PARP cleavage or bax expression was not detected. Our results suggest that Red-ginseng extract has dual effects, the cell proliferative or cytotoxic effect, on hNSCs in vitro with dose-dependent manner.
