Learning Third Language Brings Changes in Executive Function: An ERP Study

A number of studies have found that bilinguals differ from monolinguals not only in verbal aspects but also in nonverbal cognitive functions. This study aims to investigate whether learning a third language also affects our executive functions. To demonstrate a direct effect of learning a third language (German) in executive function, 32 English-Korean bilinguals participated in the ERP experiments twice: before and after language training. Based on the Dual Mechanism Control (DMC) model, we used an AX-CPT paradigm to analyze the proactive control processing with P3b and reactive control processing with N2 and P3a components. The results showed an increase in P3a amplitudes after learning the third language which implies enhanced response inhibitory function. Thus, our results suggest not only the second language but also the third language acquisition influences reactive control functions.

Apoptotic effect of IP6 was not enhanced by co-treatment with myo-inositol in prostate carcinoma PC3 cells

Inositol hexaphosphate (IP6) is a major constituent of most cereals, legumes, nuts, oil seeds and soybean. Previous studies reported the anticancer effect of IP6 and suggested that co-treatment of IP6 with inositol may enhance anticancer effect of IP6. Although the anticancer effect of IP6 has been intensively studied, the combinational effect of IP6 and inositol and involved mechanisms are not well understood so far. In the present study, we investigated the effect of IP6 and myo-inositol (MI) on cell cycle regulation and apoptosis using PC3 prostate cancer cell lines. When cells were co-treated with IP6 and MI, the extent of cell growth inhibition was significantly increased than that by IP6 alone. To identify the effect of IP6 and MI on apoptosis, the activity of caspase-3 was measured. The caspase-3 activity was significantly increased when cells were treated with either IP6 alone or both IP6 and MI, with no significant enhancement by co-treatment. To investigate the effect of IP6 and MI of cell cycle arrest, we measured p21 mRNA expression in PC3 cells and observed significant increase in p21 mRNA by IP6. But synergistic regulation by co-treatment with IP6 and MI was not observed. In addition, there was no significant effect by co-treatment compared to IP6 treatment on the regulation of cell cycle progression although IP6 significantly changed cell cycle distribution in the presence of MI or not. Therefore, these findings support that IP6 has anticancer function by induction of apoptosis and regulation of cell cycle. However, synergistic effect by MI on cell cycle regulation and apoptosis was not observed in PC3 prostate cancer cells.

사회복지실천현장에서 교류분석 시간구조화의 적용

본 연구는 사회복지실천현장에서 교류분석(TA) 시간구조화의 적용에 관하여 살펴보고, 사회복지실천 사정 단계에서 사정 도구로서 시간구조화의 유용성과 활용방안을 모색하고자 한다. 연구결과, 사회복지실천현장에서 클라이언트의 사정 과정은 개인을 둘러싼 환경과의 관계뿐 아니라 개인적 요인특성에 따른 개별화된 개입방법이 중요한 요소임을 확인하였다. 따라서 다양한 사회복지실천현장에서 사정 도구로서 교류분석 시간구조화의 적용은 인간의 특성에 따른 개별화되고 전문적인 개입방법을 제시해 줄 수 있으며, 클라이언트의 건강한 대인 간 교류를 활성화할 수 있는 개입방안의 기초자료를 제시해 줄 수 있을 것이다. This study examines the application of time structuring of Transactional Analysis(TA) in the field of social welfare practice, and tries to find the usefulness and use of time structuring as an assessment tool in the stage of social welfare practice assessment. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the individualized intervention method according to the characteristics of individual factors as well as the relationship with the environment surrounding the individual was an important factor in the client's assessment process in the social welfare practice field. Therefore, the application of Transactional Analysis time structuring as an assessment tool in various social welfare practice sites can suggest an individualized and professional intervention method according to human characteristics. It will be able to present basic data for interventions that can activate the client's healthy interpersonal exchange.

N/A In this study we fed control diet and tryptophan supplemented diets containing 0.35% tryptophan to ICR mice for 2 weeks. The concentrations of serotonin and 5-HIAA were changed by injection of the serotonin synthesis inhibitor, p-CPA and the serotonin precursor, serotoninP and the change of brain serotonin concentration negatively correlated with that of pain sensitivity, and p-CPA and serotoninP also changed the analgesic effect of morphine. The injection of naloxone, the opiate antagonist, resulted in an increase in the writhing frequency, but its antagonistic effect was not significant. The concentration of 5-HIAA elevated in mice brain at least 3hr after administration of morphine hydroxide indicates that the changes in brain serotonin metabolism may be associated with the acute effects of morphine analgesia. In short, these results not only suggest that tryptophan supplemented diet suppress pain sensitivity in mice, but also indicate that at least in part analgesic mechanism of serotonin may be associated with morphine analgesia.

In this study we fed control diet and tryptophan supplemented diets containing 0.1, 0.2, 0.35% tryptophan to ICR mice for 1∼3 weeks to investigate the effects of tryptophan supplemented diet on pain sensitivity and the analgesic mechanism of serotonin. Animals fed tryptophan supplemented diets displayed increased antinociception when measured with hot plate and phenylquinone-writhing tests. And animals with typtophan supplemented diet had higher brain serotonin and 5-HIAA concentration than the control animals.

파스콜리(Pascoli) 시학의 특성 연구 - 이탈리아 데카덴티스모(Decadentismo)와의 연관관계를 중심으로

  데카덴티스모는 실증주의에 대한 반발로 19세기 말엽 이탈리아에 대두하였다. 세기말 불안한 인간의 심리 상태를 표명하면서 이전의 전통적 가치 체계를 부정하고 새로운 것을 추구하고자 했던 데카덴티스모는 고전주의처럼 깊은 학문적 체계를 가지지는 못했지만 그때까지 소원했던 인간의 정신을 문제 삼고 새로운 시도를 행했다는 데에 그 의의가 있다. 당시 만연한 실증주의가 과학에 의해 모든 존재를 규명할 수 있다고 생각한 반면 데카덴티스모는 세상에는 우리가 알 수 없고 정의내릴 수 없는 신비한 존재가 있다는 사실을 자각하였다. 그리고 이러한 신비적인 존재는 합리적이고 이성적인 사고에 의해서가 아니라 직관과 주관적인 사고에 의해서 순간적으로 인식할 수 있는 것이라고 주장했다.<BR>  이탈리아의 데카덴티스모는 다른 유럽 국가들에 비해 데카덴티스모의 모태가 되는 낭만적인 경험이 부족하여 그 사상적 뿌리가 깊지 않았고, 이 때문에 많은 비평가들의 혹평을 받기도 했다. 그러나 이탈리아에서 데카덴티스모는 20세기 이후에 전통 타파와 개혁을 부르짖으며 등장한 이탈리아 사조들의 정신적 기반을 형성하는데 중요한 영향을 미쳤다는 점에서 그 중요성을 간과해서는 안 될 것이다. 이탈리아의 데카덴티스모는 단눈치오와 파스콜리에 의해서 본격적으로 시작되었다. 단눈치오는 초인 사상을 바탕으로 유미주의와 관능성을 작품에 반영하면서 이탈리아의 데카덴티스모를 유럽적이고 보편적인 데가덴티스모로 발전시키고자 했다. 반면에 파스콜리는 작고 사소한 일상적인 사물들에 관심을 기울이며, 이탈리아 문학의 뿌리는 다른 유럽 문학들이 아닌 오로지 이탈리아 문학에서만 발견할 수 있다는 자신만의 독창적인 감수성으로 이탈리아 고유의 데카덴티스모를 형성하였다.<BR>  본고에서는 데카덴티스모의 특성 중에서 신비에 대한 인식과 전통적 가치 체계에 대한 반발에 중점을 두었으며, 이것에 바탕을 두고 파스콜리에게서 나타나는 데카덴티스모의 특징을 살펴보았다. 파스콜리는 신비적 존재를 표출하는 방법으로 상징주의, 심미주의 그리고 인상주의적인 요소를 사용하였다. 과거의 설명적인 시어에서 벗어난 데카덴티스모 작가들은 애매모호하고 암시적인 상징이야말로 알 수 없는 신비적 존재를 표현하기에 적절한 방법이라고 생각하였고, 파스콜리의 시에서도 ‘상징’은 중요한 특징으로 자리하고 있다. 특히, 그의 시에서는 ‘죽음’을 거부할 수 없는 신비적인 힘으로 표현하였다. 이것은 어린 시절 기족들의 잇따른 죽음을 경험한 시인의 개인적인 체험의 영향이라 할 수 있다.<BR>  파스콜리의 대표적인 시학 이론서 『Il fanciullino』는 그의 작품 중 가장 데카덴티스모적인 경향이 강한 작품으로 평가받는다. 시인은 어린아이의 눈, 즉 동심을 통해 세상을 바라보아야 한다고 주장한다. 큰 것을 작게 하고 작은 것을 크게 하는 fanciullino의 사상은 파스콜리의 독창적인 감수성을 나타내며 이것이 그를 데카덴티스모 작가로 간주하는 가장 큰 이유가 된다. 순간적이고 직관적으로 사물을 인식하는 fanciullino는 직관과 체험으로 대상을 표현하는 심미주의의 측면에서도 관찰할 수 있으며, 언어를 사상이나 개념이 아닌 감각과 소리 이미지라고 생각한 인상주의의 측면에서도 파스콜리의 데카덴티스모의 특성은 나타난다. 특히 자연의 소리를 즉석에서 기록한 의성어와 감각적 인상 특히 시각적 인상을 중시하여 사용한 공감각적 표현 그리고 자연 외에도 무생물인 대상에 관심을 가진 인상주의적 요소는 그의 작품에서 독특한 분위기를 형성한다.<BR>  물론 이러한 파스콜리의 문학이 완전한 근대성을 획득했다고는 말할 수 없다. 그러나 시인의 독창적인 감수성과 그가 실행한 전통에 대한 끊임없는 새로운 시도는 파스콜리를 중요한 데카덴티스모 시인으로 간주하기에 충분할 것이다.   The Decadentism raised against the Positivism at the close of the 19th century. The Positivism was regarded that it could be examined all existence by science. On the other hand, the Decadentism was aware of the mystery existence which we can not justify. These mystery can be notified abruptly by its own thought, not by rational and reasonable thought. The Decadentism sought some new idea while described the scared human"s mentality in the end of the century and denied the old traditional value system. It mattered human"s mentality which we had really wanted even though it didn"t have a deep study system like the classicism. That is the point in the Decadentism. I would like to find out Pascoli literature which brought the Decadentism in Italy. Before describing its characteristic, we do need to know the Italian Decadentism has a less conceptional root than other European countries. Because, they didn"t have enough romantic experience which is the Decadentism"s matrix.<BR>  The Italian Decadentism might be from D"annunzio and Pascoli. D"annunzio developed general Decadentism with his work which endowed with supermanism, florid language technique and sensualness. On the other side Pascoli composed proper Italian Decadentism with his own unique sensibility. This paper emphasised awareness of the mystery and resistance of the old traditional value system among the Decadentism"s feature. Pascoli used symbolism, estheticism and impressionism as one of the ways to express the mystery. The Decadentists who were freed from an old informational poetic word thought an unclear and suggestive symbol was the best way to express the unknowable mystery. "The symbol" is also a very important feature in Pascoli"s poetry. Especially, "the death" was described as an unrejectable mystery power in his poetry. It could be influenced by the poet who experienced his family"s death in his childhood. And the theory book 〈Il Fanciullino〉 which contains Pascoli"s representative poetics is regarded as the most Decadentistic work. The poetry saw the world through the child"s mind and we can find his mysticism there. Fanciullino"s idea which make small thing to big and big thing to small appears Pascoli"s unique susceptibility so that he is regarded as a Decadentic writer. Fanciullino which recognised feature abruptly and intuitively can be also found in the estheticism which expresses feature by intuition and experience. And also we can find Pascoli"s decadentistic character out from the impressionism aspect which treated the language as a sense or sound not an idea or conception.<BR>  Pascoli"s impressionistic feature which contains an onomatopoeia, naught sensual expression and an inanimate object appears in a realistic topic.<BR>  Undoubtedly, we can justify that Pascoli"s lecture has secured the perfect modernity. But his unique susceptibility and ceaseless attempt about traditional rule are good enough him to be regarded as a decadentic poet.

등조도 곡선의 자동화 측정

Low-cost and automated isolux diagram measurement system are investigated. The system is constructed with illuminance measurement array, analog multiplexer, A/D converter and 16-bit microcomputer. The experimental results show good agreement with the measured illuminance values. Decreasing the measure-spacing, the more accurate diagram can be obtained.
