During the aerobic composting of livestock excrement, or leachate, which is generated in the composting process,is distributed through a bulking agent. In this research, a specific microorganism expected to reduce the emissionof odor was activated in livestock excrement supernatant, which is similar to the leachate used for water control. While the microorganism was being diffused, odor properties were examined. The bulking agent, in which thespecific microorganism was activated, was produced by applying a bioreactor filled with pumice and pellets tothe treatment process of livestock excrement activation sludge method. The dominant microorganisms werePseudomonas genera. Experiment results showed ammonia content was lowered as to 0.27 ppm 1n 15 days;however, it remained at levels of 3.15 ppm in the control reactor. After the composting time was completed, theammonia concentrations were 0.07 ppm and 3.43 ppm, respectively. The complex odor in the test reactor was28~30 times greater than of dilution, but was 42~45 times greater in the control reactor. Hydrogen sulfide andmethyl mercaptan were not detected in either reactors. Ammonia was thought to be the major odor-producingsource during the aerobic composting process of livestock excrement, and it was expected that the odor could bereduced by spraying a microorganism -activated solution as a bulking agent.
순천만 갯벌에서 분리한 균주 YUN4의 악취물질 분해능 평가

This study was conducted to separate microorganisms with excellent odor component decomposition ability from nature. Microorganisms growing sulfur and ammonia compounds as substrates were isolated and identified in the tidal flat of Suncheon Bay. The strain YUN4 cultured on ammonia and sulfur compound substrates was found to have 100% genetic homology to Streptomyces fulvissimus. The optimum growth temperature of YUN4 was 20oC to 40oC, and the optimum pH was investigated in the range of pH 5 to pH 9. In addition, in order to evaluate the ability to reduce odor, after mixing the culture strain with each concentration of 1%, 5%, and 10% in the malodor generating sample, the efficiency of malodor reduction was evaluated after 30 minutes. As a result, the ammonia decomposition efficiency was 82.4%~93.9%, and hydrogen sulfide was 88.7%~94.9%.
온라인 실행공동체(Communities-of-Practice) 활성화 요인과 스폰서의 영향

Firms are increasingly adopting online communities-of-practice (CoPs) with strong managerial support in hopes of promoting knowledge sharing and creation within the organization. Excessive managerial concern and sponsoring, however, could harm the spontaneity of CoP participants, which is one of the pivotal characteristics of virtual communities, and in the end, have negative impact on their smooth operation. In this regard, this study examines the factors which affect the stimulation of CoPs and explores the difference in their operating mechanisms under two differing organizational structural settings by the existence of a sponsor. By analyzing 133 samples of CoPs in a globally leading company, this study found that the existence of a sponsor designated by the organization, has serious influence on the working of CoPs, That is, leaders' enthusiasm and the level of off-line activities are critical factors for the stimulation of CoPs which have no sponsor, while in case of CoPs that have their sponsors, neither leaders' enthusiasm nor the level of off-line activities are significantly related to the stimulation of CoPs. At the same time, the performance of CoPs which have their sponsors was found significantly higher than that of CoPs which have no sponsor. These results indicate that firms need to pay special attention to organizational sponsorship when introducing CoPs within their organizations.
흰쥐 관류간 모델에서 저산소 및 산소재도입시 vitamin C 가 간장기능에 미치는 영향

This study was done to investigate the effect of vitamin C on hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced hepatic injury in isolated perfused rat liver. Isolated livers from rats fasted 18 hours were subjected to 45 min of hypoxia followed by reoxygenation for 45 min. The perfusion medium used was Krebs-Henseleit bicarbonate buffer (pH 7.4) and 0.5 mmol/L of vitamin C was added to the perfusate. Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels were significantly increased by hypoxia/reoxygenation. These increases were augmented by vitamin C. Glucose output and bile flow were markedly decreased by hypoxia/reoxygenation. Vitamin C aggravated the decrease of glucose output but had little effect on bile flow. Our findings suggest that hypoxia/reoxygenation diminishes hepatic metabolic and secretory functions, and vitamin C significantly aggravates these changes.

The aim of this study was to measure whole blood viscosity (WBV) and then to establish its referencevalues and identify correlation between WBV and hematology or serum chemistry in beagle. The experiment wasmade up of 82 healthy beagle dogs. Jugular vein blood samples (10 ml) were collected. WBV (cP) measured within4 hours after collection by U-shaped scanning capillary-tube viscometer (BVD-PRO1®) which is capable of measuringyield stress and viscosity of whole blood continuously over a wide range of shear rates from 1 s−1to 1000 s−1 is newtype of capillary tube viscometer and calculates viscosity using Casson fluid model. Measured values of WBV, Completeblood cell count, serum chemistry were analyzed by RM-ANOVA test. Mean diastolic and systolic WBV (cP) were29.032 ± 6.137 and 4.528 ± 0.865. Bodyweight (BW), Red blood cell count (RBC), Hemoglobin (HGB), Hematocrit(HCT), Alkaline phosphatase (ALP), Cholestetol (CHOL), Total protein (TP), Globulin, Chloride (Cl), Fibrinogen, werestatistically correlated with WBV over whole range of shear rates (p < 0.05). This study newly evaluated referencevalues of WBV by U-shaped viscometer in beagle. Correlation between WBV and BW, RBC, HGB, HCT, ALP, CHOL,TP, Globulin, Cl, Fibrinogen was presented.
